    Bougie Size

This is very interesting to me. I actually don't know. I think I will call my doctor and ask. I know there is people that have regained and lose the restriction but I thought that it is because they started eating more than the 3-6 oz they are supposed to eat. I am worried that when I get to a year that the 3 oz or 4 oz won't make me feel full but I have heard that if you continue to weigh and measure and stay on top of the carbs then you should be fine. I am hoping that is the case. I know several people that they eat what ever they want but they just eat a small amounts and I think this is what ends up hurting over time because they are eating the heavy carbs like Pasta and bread and when they start eating more like a cup they are getting too many unhealthy carbs. I am going to ask my doctor about the bougie. I think that is a good idea and do some research on it. Thanks for the info and I wish you the best with the revision.
  2. Hello I was sleeved on 7/11/2013. I am the same. I have read a lot that at 5 and 6 months out this is normal. A 1 to 2 pound a week is normal. After the body goes through a rapid weight loss it slows down a bit. I just keep plugging along. . I did push my self a little harder at the gym that helps. It also depends on how much you have to loose. I think others that have more to loose it may be more than the 1 to 2 pounds but once you get closer to your goal it just takes longer. I am now in a size 14/16 from a 22 so I couldn't be happier. I keep my carbs under 40 a day and I work out 4 days min a week. I figured that if I loose 5 to 8 pounds a month that would put me at goal around August and that would be 13 months from Surgery. I have happy with that. It is a life change for me and the scale I try to not think abut too much. I am just so happy my sleep apnea is gone and my feet don't hurt!
  3. Wow great job. You must feel great!

    The "e" Word

I started going to the gym at 3 weeks after surgery after my doctor cleared me. I started just walking on the treadmill. After about 2 weeks I moved to weights and pushing cardio. My main focus was weights due to losing weight so fast and losing muscle. I now do about 30 min of cardio and 30 of weights. I am happy I was able to start that early. I did however have to take about a month before I could do anything with my mid stomach area. That took longer due to it being a little painful.

    Post-Op Cravings!

I dealt with this a lot when I was first sleeved. You will see a lot of advanced sleever's that talk about Head hunger. Your head has not caught up with you yet. It takes time. When I heard that upfront I thought people were crazy but it is totally true. You have to take the time and think about it. Is it hunger or head hunger. You will always have the head hunger. It just takes time to learn it. That is what is so great about the sleeve. I am 5 months out and have lost over 80 pounds. I now do not have as much hunger and head hunger that I had right after I was sleeved. I actually thought my sleeve was done wrong in the beginning because I kept on hearing that people were saying they were not hungry! I was like that is crazy I am hungry and my stomach would growl. It ended up being gas ( feels just like hunger pains) and then Head hunger on top of that. It will get better it just takes a little longer. !
  9. I let everyone know I had surgery. I shout it out load because I am so happy. It has changed my life in so many ways. I have lost over 80 pounds and I feel that people are going to know anyway. I have lost that in 5 months. They will see you eat small food and miss the office party birthday cakes etc. So I believe they will figure it out anyway. Most of my co workers are so helpful and interested. They actual love to talk to me about it all the time. I went to the bank yesterday and the teller who knows me did not know it was me. We laughed and and I even told her. I guess that is just who I am. I love to tell people. I know weird. There is many people that don't want anyone to know. I just feel like screaming it from a mountain top because I am so happy.

    Hernia

I also had a large Hiatal Hernia. It was repaired also in surgery. The good news is I have no acid reflux and have no problems after surgery. I love not having to take prilosec.

    Reflux Question

When I had my sleeve surgery in July 2013 I also had a large Hiatal Hernia repaired at the same time. Prior to surgery I used Prilosec and always had problems. The day I had surgery I never had reflux again. This is one of the biggest joys for me about the surgery. I am 5 months now and I never have any issues.

    Driving Right After Surgery?

I was back at work within 2 weeks and was driving to work. I do work close to home so was not driving more than 10 to 15 min but my job has me sitting all day. I know others that were out of work for a month but I did well. I wish you the same.
  14. I am about 5 months now and don't have any problems at all now. In the beginning I had the same thing. When I went to WLS support groups they all said use Miralax. It comes in a bottle and it is white powder that you put in Water. It worked great. Once you start eating more full foods it will get better.

    Crohns

I thought I had Crohns but got tested and I was diagnosed with Post infectious IBS. That was a year ago. I was sleeved in July 2013. I know it is not Crohns but I have had no issues what so ever. I used to take pro biotics and now I need nothing and doing well.

    Should I have the surgery?

I totally understand. I thought about having the surgery 4 years ago. I also lived in CA at that time and had started the meetings with the doctors but my family said the same thing. My husband and my family thought I could do it myself if I put my mind to it etc. I decided not to have the surgery. Now fast forward to 2013. I had moved to Texas and gained almost 40 more pounds and my yo yo dieting was just so frustrating. My health had taken a huge slide. I had sleep apnea and high blood pressure . I finally hit the breaking point and started the research again and made doctor appointments. Once I started going to meetings and made up my mind for myself my family followed. They saw that I had made up my mind and I was gong to change my life. By the time I was having my surgery my family was all on board. I am now 5 months post op. I am so happy I moved forward and did the sleeve surgery. . I wish I had done it earlier in my life. I work out 5 days a week. I have lost 71 pounds and I feel so much healthier. My family is so supportive and now see's how I have changed my life and is so happy for me. You also might think about taking your mom to support groups for WLS post and pre op. I have seen many family member's go with loved ones to help them get information that helps them to understand so it is not so scary. Good Luck with what ever you decide and I wish you the best.

    who drinks soda occasionally?

I said good bye to soda when I had my surgery 07/11/2013. I gave it up. From everything I read or talked to doctor they all said the same thing. Not good for you and can stretch your stomach. I figured I would not risk it. I must say I am 3.5 months out and it is lot easier. I craved it so bad the first month. Not so hard now.
