Blood in vomit 6 months post op - ANYONE?
awold0 replied to cloud9's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am so sorry you are having this. Does not sound fun. I hear in your writing you maybe having thoughts of doubt. I hope someone can chime in that may have had this before. I know we are all different but if it was me I would also call my primary doc. I would think they could give you something to help the pain. Keep us posted and hope it goes away soon. -
so freaking funny...... Laughed hard..

Missed last Monday weigh in. I was out on the 20th for Gallbladder removal. I was scared to weigh myself because of all the air they blow into you for surgery. I have been very clean with my diet since the 17th and was happy to see me down 2 pounds today even with last weeks surgery and bloat! ST 170 CW 168 ST PATRICK GW 164

When does the pain completely go away?
awold0 replied to karice52's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was in pain like you. I am amazed when others have little or no pain. I was on pain killer for 2 weeks. Then switched to Tylenol liquid for about 2 weeks. Hang in there it will get better like they all say! -
Where/How/When did you get your motivation?
awold0 replied to aNewTanya's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I so understand your thread. I too thought the same prior to getting sleeved. I had read and also spoke to others that said what motivated them was actually the weight that comes off in the beginning quite quick. For me this was really true. I lost about 5 prior to surgery and then bam 25 pounds at 4 weeks and then it was 40 in a small amount of time. This motivated me to get into the gym and keep the momentum. Not everyone looses a lot in the beginning bot I started at 278. Then before you know it you feeling great eating small amounts and working out. Now 7.5 months out and I am 170. The motivation has to come from you but it does help in the beginning to get a jump start. Now at 7.5 I loose about 1 pound a week. I am fine with that. I feel great. -
Also I must add not 100 percent it was about 80 / 20 and my 20 percent was a most 6,000 dollars.

I have heard of others before. I have same insurance but texas and it is covered. I have a friend in North Carolina and it is same insurance but not covered there. Seems not fair.

I always considered myself a social smoker but was a social smoker for 25 years. I am 46. I would smoke about 2 sigs in the afternoon with wine. If I went out on weekend and drank too much it could be half a pack in one night. When I decided to have surgery ( took 3 years off and on to decide) I knew I had to stop the drinks since they were the slippery slope for smoking. So 8 months prior I did it cold turkey. Did I slip once and awhile? Yes. I know they (insurance) wants you to have quit for a year. My nut asked the questions when filling out the info for the insurance company. She told me most insurance co want a year. I told her 8 to 9 months and she put a year considering it was about 2 months till I had surgery anyway. To answer your question it was 3 things that helped me quit. My 9 year old son. My being totally scared to have surgery complications (smokeing increases this) and knowing if I was going to loose weight I know drinking would hinder that. Thus stopping the drinking it would stop the smoking because for me I never craved a sig unless I was drinking. I am 8 months out. I am down 108 pounds. 20 from goal. I have had a cocktail a few times but have stoped the smokeing. I know this will always be a struggle so I have to watch this always. Good luck to you and wish you a happy journey!

I would love this too. I have a support group but only 2 days a month and I seem to end up missing a meeting. Having a bigger group may help to have more meetings. I would love to be apart of this also and getting certified to help. I am also in texas. -
Do I still have Sleep Apnea?
awold0 replied to Teachamy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 7 .5 months out down 106 pounds. I am 1 70 and goal is 145. I had to keep going back and having them lower the air pressure several times. Could not sleep with it anymore pressure and air got to much. Then I stopped all together using it. So it seemed once I was below 200 I starting adjusting. I was diagnosed with it about 6 years ago because my husband recorded me he was so worried. With me it was totally weight related. Now I sleep like a baby and husband says I am super quiet and no choking or snoring. -

This is so normal. Hang in there. It is so worth it! It is just the unknown that drives us crazy. They take good care of you. Your journey is just beginning. Mine started in July 2013 and down 106 pounds. No more meds no more sleep apnea or foot pain. You can do this. Keep positive thoughts. I don't know if you have iPhone or have access to music but I downloaded some relaxing music like ocean waves etc. It helped I listed to it while sitting in the waiting room. I wish you a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing you on the losing bench! Good luck! -
I just had my gallbladder removed on Thursday of last week. I am taking it every 4 hours for the pain. I had sleeve 7 months ago. My wls doc prescribed it to me so it is just fine.

Insurance $2500 copay...anyone else have this?
awold0 replied to MizzouFan1's topic in Insurance & Financing
I had to pay my yearly deductible max out of pocket of 3500. Surgery was 18,000 and my deductible 3500. -
Same thing with me. My blood pressure was real high. They did notice when my pain went down from meds then BP would go down. When pain was high BP was high. I was home 1 day after surgery.

You know I thought the same thing for my first few months then realized it was by I lost weight in shoulders and back so it was longer.

I am 7 months out from Sleeve surgery and I now have to get my gallbladder out next week. I wish I would have had it out along with my sleeve! You are lucky. I hate having to go in for another surgery. With rapid weight loss this can cause gallstones which I started having symptoms a few weeks ago. I called doctor to be safe and they gave me an ultrasound and found large ones. So I think you are lucky. One less thing to worry about. Good luck with your surgery and I wish you a speedy recovery.

I am no doctor but it sounds like it could be the gallbladder. I was sleeved in July and I am having mine out next week. I have done a lot of reading on this topic. Do you have pain on your right side just under your right rib? This pain also goes to the back under your shoulder blades. There is so many people that write they think they are having a heart attack Some have major pain and some minor. Mine is minor but I had heard a lot about rapid weight loss and 30 % of patients have issues with gallbladder. I called my doctor when I started having sysmtoms and they do an ultra sound. They did and I have very large ones ( stones ). Call your doc to be safe. Good luck and keep us posted.
