Today is day 10 post-op for me. I am having such a frustrating tearful time. Besides the gas with every sip of anything, I am having such a difficult time tolerating and getting down the Protein drinks. Since I have a sensitivity to artificial sweeteners I have been using shake brands with stevia. After my surgery I have been struggling with getting them down and averaging 20 grams of protein and about 250 calories daily. This morning I had an powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken Soup that my dietician gave me. I ordered the unflavored Unjury a couple days ago and can hardly wait for delivery. So to make a long story not too long let me cut to the chase...I went to GNC looking for unflavored Isopure Protein powder. They didn't have any. Then I went to Walmart and nothing. I caved and went to the dairy section and grabbed low fat ricotta, low fat cottage cheese and Chobani's Plain Greek Yogurt. When I got home I made a shake with skim milk, greek yogurt, ricotta and half a teaspoon of sugar. This of course is not on the plan my doctor has me on. I am suppose to have 6 more days of Protein shakes before I start with a pureed diet. Can anyone tell me the damage I am doing to my sleeve? Thanks so much for your help all.

What Damage Have I Done?

Thank you everyone. Sucralose is in all the GNC shakes that I am aware of. I have been using Tera's and Jay Rob (which I just noticed tonight is in GNC). These are sweetened with stevia. I had no problem with those pre-op. VSGNeophyte, hope you find a solution too. You must of had your surgery on the 6th. All the best! -

Hmm...maybe I would be better off having yogurt rather than shakes. At least then I would be starving myself. I am not hungry at all but the minimal calories makes me nervous. Thanks for the help and words of encouragement, Slurpee_girl. Hugs. -

Protein shakes for us for days 2-15 (60-70 grams/day). In addition, at least 64 oz of sugar-free, calorie-free liquid. -
Wow! Alimarie, I am sorry. I hope you can get those fluids in. I can understand your pain. I have gas pain with every sip of Water or anything. I am glad you feel a bit better but keep drinking. Hope this trial goes by quickly for you.

SOoo frustrated. I don't know why I am having such a hard time with this post-op shake stage. Today is day 10 post op for me. I am getting in my supplements and Water but I have been averaging 20 grams of Protein a day since I can't get myself to drink it. This morning I had a unjury chicken Soup. I was given it by my dietician along with the unflavored. I was fine with the unflavored added to boullion. I ordered a bunch of that a couple days ago and can hardly wait for delivery. I have sensitivity to artificial sweeteners and have been using Tera's whey Protein and Jay Rob's shakes until after my surgery. Now I am really having a hard time. I went to GNC tonight for unflavored protein and they didn't have any?? What is with that? So I went to Walmart and they had nothing unflavored either. I grabbed Chobani's Plain Greek Yogart, low fat ricotta and low fat cottage cheese out of desperation. I just blended skim milk, yogurt, ricotta and half a teaspoon of sugar. I know this is not on the plan the doctor desires for me but I have not been taking in more than 250 calories a day minus supplements. What damage am I doing to my sleeve?

Swallowing Fluids Right After Surgery

I it normal to have issues with swallowing. When I take sips I get a sensation of gas in my esophagus with a bit of pain too. Did anyone else have this happen to them? Thank you. -

Anyone from boston? Mgh?

Hi All. I am having surgery November 7th at BWH. Dr. Robinson is my surgeon. Can't wait till it is done and past the first stage. I am really having a difficult time drinking 64oz of water a day. I generally get half that down a day. I also am discouraged by all the sugar substitutes in protein shakes and foods. I have a sensitivity to them. Tera's Protein is what I have been using. The vanilla is great with PB2 added. I have also purchased Jay Robb but have not tried it yet. I am wondering if blending a shake whips too much air into it causing gas issues after surgery. Some things I have been thinking of purchasing are an ice cream machine to make healthy protein ice cream with skim milk and a Yonanas. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks. -
Found a shake I can tolerate

I am having a difficult time finding shakes without sugar substitutes. Has anyone found something out there that has stevia or some other alternative to sucralose, splenda, etc.?
