:pHey fellow Kentuckians, Who is your doctor and what insurance do you have etc.? I have been to a seminar at St Mary's with Doctor Schuster. He seemed real nice. The nurses where very nice too. I have already sent in my paper work as well as all my medical records. What do I expect next? When will I be able to have a doctor appointment? I have Humana Preferred and am unsure of how easy it is for them to approve. I hope someone else om here has that insurance.

I am wondering the same thing KYangel. I turned mine in on October 1st and still nothing, I decided to go with Dr. Geller. he is very easy to get in contact with thru email so I thought I would be more comfortable with him.

Humana Insurance and plastic surgery
playmate2b replied to CaramelDiva1922's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I am in KY also, I know of a teacher that recently got Humana to pay for a under belly lift, not sure what it is called, she just had her dr. presrbe her rash cream and told the insurance she was getting bad rashes under the sagging skin and they paid. How hard was it for you to get approval for your lapband? -
`I wanted Dr. Lusco too but I have Humana PPo also and Dr. Luscos group is NOT in Humana's network so I would have had to pay $4000 up front as well as who knows what after the surgery, I have decided to go with either Dr. Allen or Dr. Geller with the Nortons group. They are in Humanas network and the only thing you pay upfront is $300 for the different tests the insurance requires and also your co pay. I have heard good things about the Norton group, people chime in and let us know what you think about them.

My husband and I are Big Brother Addicts!!! we DVR the 3 hour after dark every night and he even calls me at work and we discuss it. I don't know what we will do when it is over. I really like Dick being on the show because he makes it so much more entertaining. can you imagine how boring it would be without a little controversy.:heh:
-
ME TOO! I am so glad you asked, I have been terrible pictures in my mind of what it would be like, I am happy it isn't as bad as I was thinking.

I am filling out the packet for my surgeon, I wonder if there is anything I should stress on here, I put I was depressed because of my weight and have anxiety. is is better to let them see how bad you feel about yourself or not, I think this part will go to my pschiatric evaluation. I just want to do everything correct.
-
Congratulations!!!!! I am just starting the process and am very scared. Did you have any problems getting approved?
-
Thanks for warning us, My surgery is most likely some months away but I appreciate anything and everything anyone can tell me to help me be prepared.
-
Does anyone have Humana insurance? Has anyone bben approved without the total 6 month supervised diet? How long for approval? Has anyone heard if they have dropped the 6 month supervised diet? I heard through my doctors office that some of the policies have dropped the 6 month supervised diet.:nervous

Nurse Practitioner doing fills?????
playmate2b replied to suzielondon's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I would choose a Nurse Parctitioner anyday over a doctor. My sister is a Nurse Practitioner and on many occaions her patients have told her she is much better then the doctor. They seem more caring and have more time to spend with you. -
I decided to go to another doctor because Dr. Lusco is not in Humanas network and I was going to have to pay $4000 upfront. I am going to Doctor Gellar at Suburban, so far I am very very impressed with him, I have emailed him twice and he answered all my questions in a very timely manner, that makes me feel good like he will be there for me and not think of me as just another surgery. I will meet him next week because I have to go to his seminar. Has anyone here had him? can you tell me anything about him?

:rolleyes:Does anyone have Humana PPO and was it hard to get them to approve you. I have this insurance and am wondering how fast and how strict they are.:help:
-
Good Luck!! I am praying for you that you won't be so nervous and everything goes perfect. Who is doing yours and what insutance do you have? I am in this process and pretty confused if I am doing things rite. Please Please keep in touch and if you feel like it let us know how you feel tommorow when you get home.
-
Kathy, do you have to pay anything up front? Do you like Dr. Allen? I wonder if I should look around more since I have to pay $4000 up front and then my insurance will pay me a percentage back because my doctor is not a humana ppo doctor out of network.

kygal you are so funny:D

I am so glad you asked that question, I go to my surgeon on the 6th but I have already been told the insurance will probably deny and I will have to appeal. It is such bull that the insurance rules what the doctors are able to do for youe health! I hope we get lots of answers from everyone that has been thru this. I have Humana PPo

Where did you go to get your 6 month supervised diet?

Has anyone been appoved by Humana? Are they easy or a nightmare?
-

Stravi, Thanks so much for answering all my questions, I am so excited and want to hurry up and get it. I live in Louisville not far from St Mary's actually. I emailed Lana at the doctors office today and asked her if I should be doing anything, she said they didn't even send all the paper work to the insurance until after I see the surgeon!! It has bee 4 weeks and I thought I was waiting on the insurance! Now I am so bummed out. I asked her how I get to see the surgeon and was I supposed to call to get the appointment but she has not replied yet , it was at the end of the day. I am just getting bigger by the minuete and afraid to try and lose weight for fear I won't be approved, I have Humana Preferred through the State employees, I sure hope they don't give me any trouble.
-
:)Stravi, you way near what I weight and my BMI is not 40, did you have any trouble getting insurance to cover? I am doing the weighting game with The St Mary's group, it has been about a month and no word about anything yet. I loved the dr. and the girls at the seminar. The doctor was the newest one to the practice, his name escapes me rite now. Do you know if you get to choose which doctor you get out of the practice? I am going to keep in touch with you, I am so happy you are doing great. Oh also is it outpatient? Thanks sorry I have so many questions.
-
My insurance is through Humana also. My weight loss doctor for my 6 month pre surgery is ill and has given up her practice. Now I hope I don't have to start all over. Is yours through the State employees insurance? I have been on one type of weight loss drug or another for some time, I wonder if they take all the doctors records in accout for letting you get the surgery. How long is it before you find something out from your doctors? I am having my surgery at St Mary's also.
