    Who makes the decision?

Sometimes it is the doctor, but usually it is the insurance company that is driving the 6 month diet trial.
  2. I just started my pre-op today. It has been less than 8 hours and I already am going nuts. I am on a pure second stage liquid diet. I am thinking about selling my oldest child for a tortilla chip, as long as it didn't count towards cheating. And keep in mind, I like her. (My youngest, I would sell for half a tortilla chip, but might not get any takers.) How I admire all of you have successfully gone through this! I don't know if it is the idea I can't have anything or the fact that for the first time, I am actually hungry. I have been on a 1500 calorie diet for six months now, but this is different. Either way, I want to devour the whole pantry. I won't because I am a bleeping grown-up. But I sure as shooting want to. Also, what is with these stupid headaches that go along with this??! grrr As I hang here, holding on to the ledge, tell me it gets better? If not, lie to me.
  3. I promise, I am not pissed off. Just grumpy, bitchy, hungry, tired, and oversensitive. And unable to sell my kids for tortilla chips. Other than that, I am fine.
  4. Keep in mind, my daughter is 25 years old and says it is not okay for me to sell her for a tortilla chip. Kids can be so ungrateful.
  5. I realize your concerns. However, I never said I was not going to follow the doctor's pre-op diet. In fact, I said that I was. Sheesh. I didn't mean to cause controversy. I just wanted to rant about how horrible the pre-op diet is. And it is horrible. I do not remember ever being this hungry before. However, I trust my doctor, and have done too much to get this far for him not to operate. (His words were, "If patient has only one bite, I will not operate.") That being said, there does not seem to be an industry standard for pre-op diets. I have seen everything from 3 weeks to 24 hours. And everything from liquid diet to small meals. It is confusing. And piercedqt, don't give me any ideas.
  6. Well, I would agree with you but two weeks ago, we went on a Halloween cruise as a last hurrah, and I did enough damage to my liver, I better stick with the diet just in case. Thus, the 4 lb weight gain. But soooo worth it. I am thinking of getting the shirt that says, "Hi, I am B_tchy! The 8th drawf!" Thanks all for the encouragement. It helps so much to talk to people who have gone through this.

    Day before surgery and SICK!

Poor thing! That just sucks! I know we live close to each other and allergies around here are kicking everyone's rear. Good thoughts and prayers send your way that you will feel better enough to get your surgery.

    Can I smack someone?

I think someone has it right. After so long, and jumping through so many hoops, they have us now. It just is the most frustrating part of the whole process. But I finally got a date. and no longer have to deal with her. Yeah!

    Can I smack someone?

A few years ago, my friends and I had a game. If you could smack one person without consequences, who would you smack? You only get one in a lifetime. I was so pious then and said, "I can't think of a certain person who I would want to smack." Fast forward some odd years, and I can no longer say that. Today, I found a person I could smack. After two weeks, my case with Aetna is still pending. I called them today to see what was happening and to see if there was anything I can do to help the process. The insurance employee was kind and looked up and said it was still pending. They delved deeper and said the reason was they were missing information. Was it what type of classes I had taken or my dietitian report? Nope. Was it my report from the doctor or the exercise personnel? Nuh uh. IT WAS MY HEIGHT!!! The bleeping doctor's office failed to tell the bleeping insurance how tall I am!!!! The insurance had contacted my doctor's office and left a message several times and they had not heard back from them. I had just contacted my doctor's insurance coordinator Friday. She said she hadn't heard anything from the insurance company and she would call them and contact me either later that day or Monday for sure. Well, I called today and she is out of the office. <insert scream here> I now have found someone I could smack! So, here I am, insurance is still pending, because they don't have my bleeping height which they need from the doctor's insurance coordinator. This process is so frustrating! I bow down to those who have gone through it without losing their cool. I feel like just walking away from the whole process. And finding another doctor at this point is not an option. On a different note, anyone want a free 18 year old senior in high school? Free to good home. Yes, it has been a crappy day.
  16. Just got off the phone with my surgeon's office and I have a date! November 20th! Yeah! I am very happy about it, but George Clooney would be nice as well. At least one of those things will be a reality.
  17. Thanks all for the support! To tell the truth, I am torn between George Clooney and Hugh Jackman, but since Clooney is from my area, he is the more likely candidate. (By the way, if you had told me at 16 I would think a guy named Hugh or George would be a heartthrob, I would have thought you were nuts.) And proudgrammy, you are a tease! But I will have my own version of George there. At least my husband looks like George Clooney...in the dark. But my husband is much sweeter and just as handsome to me. I have lost 45 lbs since February, and 36 since June, when I went in for my initial consultation. That is due to MFP and the gym. I have to say I had a slide back moment last night when I said my final goodbyes and broke up with chocolate stuffed Oreos. But I was still under calorie for the day. And it made me realize how much I need this surgery to help with staying on track. Ironically, I lost another pound this morning when I woke up.

    Im not a jerk...

It isn't my husband, but my son who has been doing this. He has decided Carnation Instant Breakfast is his favorite thing in the world. He has been eyeing my Syntrax, but I said NO! The funny thing is he was then lecturing me on nutrition because he now knows about it through his drinking the Carnation breakfasts.

    tall female sleevers...

I am 5'9" and my goal is actually 169, so that I can be "average" bmi, instead of overweight. But it is so arbitrary. I will see how I feel when I make it to the loser's bench. My surgeon wouldn't set a goal for me, actually. They said there were too many factors. So, I set one for myself.

    Can I smack someone?

I was finally approved last Tuesday. I was the one who called my insurance coordinator to tell her. She then assured me that she would call me back on Wed. to set up the actual surgery date. So far, it is now Friday. No date and no call back. I realize she is busy with others, but if you say you are going to tell someone that you will call someone back on a certain date, you really should. So, she is still the number one person to be smacked. grrrrr
