  1. How many months after VSG/how many pounds did it take before you began noticing your weight loss? Like one day you noticed your arms where thinner or face looked leaner? Where there any areas you lost weight faster than others? I have a chubby face and carry most of my weight in the stomach so hoping the belly decreases first.

    People don't recognize me!

Not a bad problem to have, imma right? Worse than people not recognizing you because you gained a ton of weight. Congrats on your weight loss, it keeps newbies like me motivated!
  3. After surgery, how long did it take you to recover, adjust to the diet and begin to loose weight? Your sweet spot being the time you'd healed, still loosing weight and had a handle on what you could eat/new eating style.
  4. Oh man, got discharged a couple of hours ago, showered and am now relaxing with some broth and apple juice. Surgery went well, no issues whatsoever and the nurses were outstanding. The best care i've had in a long time. Save for being on my period and not being able to shower at the hospital i'd rate it an A+. Thanks to everyone for sharing their experiences, it kept me calm and i burst out when I had similar experiences to others such as swallowing the blue dye (no leaks!) then peeing a blue-ish greenish color or passing loud gas after doing several laps. My belly is still sore and the incisions make my stomach look weird but i'm currently working on walking around, staying hydrated and getting the Protein in. Looking forward to getting off the hydracodone and getting to pureed foods. P.S. I believe I saw a fellow VST'er in the hospital as I walked about, we have the same doctor, our dates were a day apart so I DM'ed but that would be funny.
  5. Sleeved today! Went well no complications but sore like hell.
  6. As a carb lover, (love rice, bread, Pasta, potatoes!!!!!) hoping i lose my tastes for these. What did you love pre-surgery that you can no longer anymore?
  7. I'm getting sleeved today. Woke up, said a prayer and taking it easy before I have to head to the hospital. Feeling calm, excited and nervous at the same time. VST has been a major help in my decision to have surgery and played a great role in helping me get prepared and setting expectations. Thanks to everyone who responded to my posts, I feel ready for this. LET'S DO THIS! P.S Going under at 1:30PM Pacific time so please send your prayers/good thoughts my way. Thanks and looking forward to returning as a fellow sleever!

    Sleeve Day: This is it!

I'm alive, I'm alive lol. Everything went well thanks everyone!
  9. Thanks everyone. This has been helping in letting me know what to expect and feel more calm. Hopefully its a smooth experience
  10. But not in the way you think! Look I'm not one of these assholes that thinks this is the easy way out or there's a right way to lose weight but as my surgery looms on Monday I can't help but wonder if I tried hard enough to lose weight on my own. Months ago, if you'd told me to go on a liquid diet I would have told you to go f**k ourself. No way on earth I thought I would be able to endure the liquid diet and yet I did and lost 25 pounds. I'm looking forward to the positive lifestyle changes And weight loss that VSG will bring but even at my goal weight I don't think I'll be able to get over the fact that it had to come this. Oddly also feel I will regret not having tackled this weight issue and thought of VSG earlier as my 20s were essentially lost battling my weight, feeling isolated and not having much of a social life. Youth wasted! Maybe because there's a stigma about weight loss surgery I dunno. As much as I'm looking forward to being sleeved, I'm hating that I have to. Anyone feel like this?
  11. The entire time I've been on the liquid diet I've had vivid dreams about eating food. In some instances I felt like I could taste and it and would occasionally wake up in the panic thinking I'd cheated. I find this weird and hilarious. Has this happened to anyone else
  12. Had an aha moment yesterday. So I'm currently on the liquid diet and went in for my final checkup before surgery as I had gained 10 pounds after my 1st visit and the doc wanted me to lose 20 before surgery. Anyway they weighed me and turns out I've lost 22 pounds since starting the liquid diet and I have a few more days on it before surgery. I was so happy and relieved to have met the goal so as I'm drive home this thought pops in my mind of getting some food.....Wonton Soup or pho to Celebrate. Of course I said hell no and drove straight home but it made me think about my relationship with food. I don't think I'm going to be able to eat like this anymore and I'm sad yet happy. Looking forward to eating to live....with the occasional treat I imagine
  13. Few more days on the liquid diet before surgery but will still continue full liquids after surgery progressing to puréed foods then soft foods. It will be over a month before I can finally have regular food. I'm so looking forward to being able to eat, more so chewing, in the future! What was our first meal after you were cleared for solids?

What was your first solid meal postop?

Not being able to chew is brutal but honestly I'm just going to follow dr's orders. I know I'll be able to eat again so cheating/bending the rules doesn't seem worth it

What was your first solid meal postop?

This is my ideal meal either that or rotisserie chicken and mash or just turkey meatballs. Cannot wait to chew again!!!!!!
  16. I'm wondering how folks tackle having to eat so little in social situations. At work, I sometimes do group lunches and dinners and I'm wondering how to deal with not eating/drinking much (didn't tell them about surgery).
  17. I'm curious. I feel like keeping quiet about it because I don't want to deal with everyone's opinions about WLS and non-stop comments about my weight/diet. I'm generally a private person and don't want everyone knowing my business. I just want to drown out the noise and stay focused on my journey to good health and get support from fellow VSG'ers. Is this odd? Did you tell everyone? few folks? what were their reactions?
  18. How long were you on it and how much did you lose? I'm on Day 2 on the Optifast diet and it's going well but holy crap I can't stop peeing and have this nasty white coating on my tongue ewww! What side effects did you experience?

What foods can you simply not have anymore?

Awesome this is great to hear. It's sound like post VSG your cravings for the bad stuff have gone away, this is great stuff. Congrats! Also we seem to have started this journey at similar weights, how much did you lose the 1st month?

How much did you lose on the liquid diet?

Started on Tuesday and i'm now down 15 pounds. So darn tough (refuse to cheat!!!). I have a week left and will keep plugging along
  21. I've pretty much had chub rub my entire adult life so much so that the skin between my thighs is dark. Does chub rub go away after you lose weight? What's does it feel like to have thighs that don't touch lol.
  22. Did you try a favorite food after surgery and not just like it or it didn't agree with you? Did you simply not crave the unhealthy stuff anymore? Also how long before you felt like your tastes had changed

3 days on the liquid diet, down 10.6 pounds!

Hi ya, the liquid diet isn't too bad. They ease you in the beginning first replacing Breakfast then lunch then full liquids with only healthy foods so I just ate salads. They'll give you the shakes so no need to purchase. You can have everything I listed earlier and they recommend just Water and Crystal Light so that's what I've been using. It's tough but I've been distracted myself with work, also I binged like crazy before starting so I guess I fulfilled my cravings and I'm now super focused. Also the Jello and yogurt has been a huge help. All in all, tough but doable
  24. Doing the optifast liquid diet: shakes and soups, can have SF jello & low fat yogurt. Man this is the hardest thing I've ever done but keeping busy seems to make things easier. How's everyone liquid diet going and how much have you lost?
