  1. I was so excited, I found creme brûlée at target to make at home. I was like it is soft and my FAVORITE. So I made it today and ate a who,e serving, turns out is is like 430 calories. I got so sick, nausea, sweating, headache etc. I did not throw up (thank god) but I did have to take a 3 hour (!) nap. And now I am starving. I have not had anywhere near this many calories since surgery on 9/16. I feel like a stupid failure and i don't know what to do from here. :-(
  2. So I was sleeved on 9/16 and the surgery went smooth. I had minimal pain after and once the pain pump was removed I didn't use any other pain meds. I walked like fiend in the hospital and had some gas and shoulder pain on the second day. Once my drain was removed all shoulder pain immediately disappeared. Upon coming home I had trouble finding a comfortable sleeping position but as my incision sights heal this is a non issue now. Physically I get tired quicker than before as I am still healing and I am adjusting to that, not being able to walk long distances with my dog sucks as does relying on the husband to do the laundry due to the 10lb weight restriction. food, that is the strangest thing. Tracking my food in myfitnesspal is weird because my calories are so low. I am tolerating everything and have had no issues with nausea or constipation. Actually I have had only very loose loose/watery stool. Oh and pain when I sneeze. I lost 11 pounds this week!!!!!!
  3. So I got sleeved on 9/16 and I came home last night. I started my period during surgery "due to the trauma of surgery" said my doctor and nurse. So I am not even sure what i am feeling in my new tummy: hunger? Pain? Cramps? I am so confused. Yesterday was my last "official" day of Clear liquids. I tried beef broth and get really sick and had some sf Jello. Last night I sleep in my own bed and had to get up every 2 hours to pee and/or readjust. Also I was/am having a bit of coughing that is so scary like I'm going to pop my stiches/staples. The most uncomfortable night of my life. Now this morning I get to start soft foods and I am completely lost. How can I get at least 40 grams of Protein in? What should I eat?
  4. So today I purchased baby silverware, and a baby pillow pet as my tummy pillow. My surgery date is Monday, it is so close. Eek! Any other supplies I need?
  5. I have PCOS and that is the main reason for my surgery. My insulin resistance is very bad and has caused many problems. I was diagnosed about 7 years ago and have tried a gagillion things with no avail. My husband and I want to start a family and I was told this is my best option. My surgeon said it will drastically improve my insulin resistance, weight and in turn fertility. I am happy that so many of you have had baby success. I have read that PCOS makes losing weight slower even with VSG, had this been the case with any of you? My surgery is set for sept 16.

    PCOS sisterhood.

I am super excited after reading the improvements everyone has had after surgery. I've been diagnosed since 2005,after bleeding for over a year and finally demanding tests. I have been married for 2 years and we really want to start a family. My doctor said that the surgery will help with my severe insulin resistance and get me off all the meds. Right now I have my period about twice a year because I do not want to be on birth control.
  7. So I got my FMLA approved today, there was some concern as it can be labeled as "elective." So it feels really real now, we are go for the 16th (eek!). Also tried a whole bunch of different protein shakes, so far I HATE muscle milk, and everything else (special k, ensure, oxyelite) is okay. The oxyelite is a powder I mixed with lactaid according to the directions and it was WAY to thick, I had to force it down. Next time more liquid. I also got some Greek yogurt and jello to eat with a spoon--you know to mix it up some. Overall I got about 95 grams of protein in. Today I also bought the recommended chewable vitamins, antacids and GasX strips. Any other suggestions for supplies?
  8. So I have 2 weeks of liquid diet and I am having a hard time. The smell of the shakes is a killer and the after taste is worse. I am having a banana creme muscle milk for lunch. The lady at vitamin shoppe said it was her favorite. I guess I need suggestions of stuff with little to no after taste. Does that even exist? Or are there protein pulls I could take instead? Thanks.
  9. I'm doing the same thing. Just in case. :-)
  10. Is there any shake that is thinner like yoohoo consistency or even more watery. Or is there any that are like juice? I hate shakes, even full on ones from baskin Robbins.
  11. So I went shopping today at GNC, Vitimine Shoppe and Publix to stock up on a variety of protein shakes for my 2 week pre-op diet, which starts on Monday. I am concerned about being able to stick to it. All the drinks i have sampled have terriable after tastes. My husband says "you just have to power through it" but i am really concerned. My brain is like okay lets go but my mouth is like nope-not gonna happen. AHHHH it is so frustrating.

Also the 16th! Excited and nervous.
  13. Hello all, I just finished my pre-op testing and I am set for sept 16th. I have never had surgery or even been in the hospital, so I am a bit scared, but super excited to take this step. I am starting my 2 week liquid diet on Monday. Suggestions?
