Any July 07 Bandsters not filled yet?
LyssaRene replied to Sue Magoo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was banded July 27, 2007 and just had my first fill last week. Restriction is WAY there, I am still doing liquids after the fill and will continue until who knows. I did try to eat Friday I think and was a no go... so shakes I continue. -
As we are all coming up for our dates, I figured I would start a new thread on the pre-op diet. It should be easier to keep up with since we have made the other string so long! So -- my dr has me on liquids w/ 2 fruits a day. I am going to go ahead and start 07/01 eventhough my surgery isn't until 07/27. This will give me time for a few mistakes (hope not many) and I am sure it will get rid of some puffiness and make me feel better.

Figured I would start this one as well: What is everyone doing and planning on doing? Anyone looked into Curves?

Low Blood sugar --- I started my pre-op Sunday. Monday at work I had that dizzy feeling in between shakes. My dr allows a fruit snack in between so I am doing bananas to offset that feeling. It only lasted on Monday and seems to be gone now. Maybe do half a shake every 2 hours instead of 1 shake every 4 or so? Split it up to help keep it level.

Didn't do so hot on day one -- well did great up until the evening then binged. I was so mad at myself but have forgiven and moving on. Day 2 and 3 went very well. I can feel my body releasing some of its water weight, which is always a perk and incentive.

Congrats on quitting smoking! That is a big step. I have read some who don't have a pre-op diet at all. All depends on the dr.

I am starting a week early -- surgery is 07/27 so it is until then. Doing well on water/flavored Water thus far. Slimfast this morning and raspberries as midmorning snack. Just trying to keep myself busy doing stuff around the house so I don't think about it all that much.

This morning starts liquids and fruits only. I am starting a week earlier than needed so I can get the hang of it besides any extra weight lost is just an added benefit. Surgery date is 07/27/2008. Current weight - not known - my scales this morning won't read so either that means the battery is low or I am just too heavy for them to read. I will work on that. The # isn't that important to me right now so I am not concerned, it is more feeling good and noticing the difference myself. Right now I am retaining a ton of water. I think the weather heating up has made my body retain it, so drinking lots of water today to try and get it to release some. Plan of attack: Keep a list of things to do when I am hungry to distract me Investigate curves as possible exercise option

Welcome Beefy! Yours is coming right up. Keep in touch so we know how it goes after surgery. Don't be nervous, it will all be fabulous!
-
Or Boris will get angry LOL -- my off sense of humor. Anyhow - don't be nervous, all will go well. :nervous My mom had it done about 2 months ago on Friday, she was back to work on Monday. Said it wasn't as bad as she thought it would be. If you get nervous just go over your goal list - it will refocus you! I have had both an emergency csection and lapro tubal -- I can't imagine anything being worse than the csection so if I survived that, this is gonna be good.

What date so it can be added to our calendar?

Welcome to the group!!

Kathy - I would take yogurt and chicken any day. tonight I picked up a watermelon = fruit = yummy. Also some sugar free popsicles and more slim fast. You would swear my frig was a factory for them with as many in there! Gotta be prepared though, no excuses.

I am not telling anyone about the band. OK, my mom knows - she is a nurse and was banded 2 months ago and my boyfriend, that is it. I have decided if anyone asks about the weight loss (cause there will be some darn it) I am going to tell them I hired a personal trainer. I decided I am going to refer to the band as the personal trainer, his name will be Boris. Boris sounds foreign and I always wanted a foreign personal trainer with a sexy accent. So if someone asks me if I want cake, I am just gonna say "Boris doesn't allow it" -- and it is the truth cause he will make me choke it back up. :eyebrows:

Karen - don't worry about the cucumber. And ick (sorry just can't stand them). Just pick youself up and move forward, this is all about learning. OK girls - tomorrow it starts. I am excited and not sure how to explain it, fearful of failure? Bought fresh fruit today and slimfast low carb, so I am ready to go. Had my last rights with pizza for dinner tonight and will soon be going for my last starbucks white chocolate mocha :whoo: I will so miss starbucks. Anyway -- tomorrow morning starts for me! Good luck everyone!

Karen - you can do it! Keep at it - I will be joining you Sunday to feel the pain.

Tons of nervousness going on out there!! Remember --- we made this choice to better ourselves, keep your chin up! No nervousness, we are entering to the month that will determine the rest of our lives and it is going to fabulous!!!! Last night I read through the June 2006 band group in the monthly area, great inspiration going on over there.

Thanks! Didn't notice it up there. I am not sure I want to be turned out into the wild and get lost. Those that band together (no pun intended) stay together. We all will be going through similar things at the same time... you put me into the wild (everyone else) and I might get lost and so might you!

You might feel bloated for a few days, but your body is holding liquid then it will release it. Keep it up!!!

+++ Idea +++ what if we all started a thread with our user name as the title and kept everyone up to date of the progress so we could check on each others progress and post up stuff. This way each person would have their own progress to look back on as the coming year passes. You could make it a diary of sorts so maybe when having a bad day you could go back and read your own posts of good days to help you get by. Anyway, just an idea. I think I will start mine as long as no one objects. I would kinda like the diary to look back on

Mine is calling for protein shakes (slim fast lowcarb or the like) fruit twice a day and water, water and more water. I have decided to start my pre-op Sunday July 1. I have a busy week at the 2 week until surgery so I might as well get into the swing of things so I can go full force at the 2 week mark. That gives me a little more than a week to make mistakes (hope I don't but!) and correct them. Plus I am sure it will make me start feeling better and get more energy.

Not that far ahead :nervous I was at the store and had already started a list on the things I had read online etc. took advantage to pick them up. Oh also got ice cube trays! I read somewhere that is the right amount (medicine cup size) of liquids and you can premake your soup, freeze it, place it in ziplocs then heat it up as needed. Great idea! Have not found sugar free popcicles yet though....:cry

What is everyone drinking on preop for protein shakes and soups?
