Question about feeling full in chest after eating
OBXgirl replied to OBXgirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow, I'm hoping it gets somewhat better later on. Or guess I will have to get used to it. -
Gamergirl: when u have protein shakes, how many ounces can u tolerate? It seems to take me forever to get down 8 oz. I am a little over 3 weeks out.

9 month Anniversary today! 112 pounds lost!
OBXgirl commented on KristyM's blog entry in KristyM's Blog
You look incredible! Congrats. Just wondering (since I'm a newbie) what you eat at nine months out? Are your meals more "normal"? I feel like a fish out of water right now. I'm only over 3 weeks out, but feel like I made a bad decision. Can u give me any insight into how u progressed throughout these 9 months? Thx! -
About to celebrate my 2 year sleeve-aversary!

Thank you so much for sharing your experience! I am three weeks post op today. Doing well for the most part....struggling somewhat with the transition of eating so much less etc. Some days it is hard to wrap my mind around it. I have a question for you - do u experience any acid reflux? I am already having a little and my dr has me on zantac twice daily. I am concerned that it may be worse later on down the road. Wondering what your experience has been with this?? I watched your video...such an inspiration. Thank you! -
2 week post op QUESTION-Need Advice
OBXgirl replied to guthsj's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
kathp - thanks for the response. I have been eating cottage cheese, string cheese, soft eggs, jello, pudding, refried beans, mashed potatoes. That's about it other than protein shakes. Some days are better than others. It normally takes me about 15 minutes to eat 3 tablespoons or so of food. Is that normal? -
2 week post op QUESTION-Need Advice
OBXgirl replied to guthsj's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Guthsj (and anyone else who wants to chime in) - i have a question along these same lines...I will be three weeks post op this wednesday. I am still having trouble getting in all my required fluid. I feel too full. I try to sip all day, but still hard to get it all in. I also can only eat around 2-3 tablespoons of food about 3 or 4 times a day (and i am still doing pureed). If i eat any more, my chest hurts. By the time i get the food in, it seems like hours before there is room for more water. So my question is, what is your method for getting in all your fluids and do they go down easily? I'm beginning to wonder if something is wrong with me. It can take me an hour or more to drink an 8 oz protein drink....it feels like it sits in my throat and has to slowly trickle down. Anyone else feel like this? -
Thank you so very much!! I appreciate it

Love your blogs and your positive outlook on everything. I am just over two weeks out, and constantly worrying about getting a leak or something. I keep praying about this and hope my fears go away so I can focus more on the positives like you

So I am two weeks post op and made it to Onederland today . Very exciting!! I did great with surgery and the two days in hospital. However, this has been very challenging both mentally and emotionally. Each day seems to get a little better though. I'm thankful for this forum and all the great discussion and advice. On that note, how about some advice for getting in more liquids? I'm not doing the best in that department. Water actually makes me sort of nauseous, is this common?? I'm also on puréed foods, any suggestions other than yogurt, cottage cheese, etc?

My doc said its fairly common to have a flare of acid reflux for first few months, but it should settle down after that. Lets hope!!

I have a question for everyone having bad reflux....did any of you have a hiatal hernia repair during sleeve surgery? I did, but still having a little burn in my throat after eating.

Wow!!!! You look amazing!! Thanks for sharing. I'm only 8 days post op and struggling just a little, but pics like these keep me going. -
Thanks for your posts. Makes me feel like I'm not going at this alone....having many of the same emotional and physical feelings. Put on my worship music this morning and got my mind in a better place

I am also 6 days post op KCSG. I can relate to how you are feeling. It seems I spend all my time wondering if I did the right thing (even though there's no way to go back now lol). I continue to think of long term complications and unknowns of this surgery. I mean, what if something would happen and I lose my entire stomach etc.??? Am I the only one who thinks these things? I have 2 children and want to be here for them.

OBXgirl replied to grateful-1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Grateful 1 glad to hear how well you are doing!! I had surgery same morning as you. Im getting ready to head home as well. Have had alot of gas pains too. And alot of tummy rumbling....are u having this?? I mean it rumbles out loud!! Keep us posted, glad you are doing well. -
Day 3 and headed home soon Yay!!! Surgery went well. I walked as soon as i could and believe this really helped. I definitely had a few moments of 'why did i do this.' But i know in the end, i will be happier and healthier. Having alot of gas and tummy rumbling. Dr says this is normal. Had some broth and crystal light this morning. Tummy making all kinds of rumbly noises even as im typing this....anyone else experience this??
