my life is miserable since the sleeve
Chittick24 replied to luckyqueenbee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was 5 months post op when I had my gallbladder out because of gallstones . Hope you see an improvement soon -
It's hard to adjust. I found that my crock pot is my best friend. I can't imagine having older kids. I have a 19 month old... But there are times I just don't want to cook. I'm 3.5 years post op and still eat small amounts and it just doesn't seem worth the effort sometimes. But I do like using the crockpot. And I have found if I cook just twice a week and we just eat leftovers.... I am much happier because I don't have to plan or think about food.

Maybe Thyroid Level is why I CAN'T get to goal! Progression Pics.
Chittick24 replied to Lisa's Hope's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I feel for you. I am hypothyroid issues for 15 years now. For 13 years I faught with my thyroid levels. Currently I am on 275 mic of synthroid.... Very high dose. I have noticed that I do better limiting any carbs what so ever. But I hope things get better for you. -
I'm 3.5 years post op and getting water in is still an issue for me. I have never drank a lot of fluids. After surgery plain water was impossible, made me nauseated. So now my water is mixed with crystal lite or the packets for Hawaiian punch.

I need to know the truth.
Chittick24 replied to jenRRT's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In addition.... As far as people saying it's the easy way out.... They are not you and do not know what's it's like to be obese and your body not helping you lose weight. The survey is a tool that levels the playing field with dieting. After surgery it is easier to lose weight an control your eating.... Your almost like a normal weight person that decides to watch what they eat to maintain or lose a few pounds... We are not programmed that way which is why we are obese in the first place. This is my opinion of my own situation not everyone's of coarse. I got to a point before and after surgery where I would hear the easy way out comment... And my response was simple... "Sounds like an uneducated opinion" " I guess if your not walking in my shoes... Your opinion should stay inside your own head". -
I need to know the truth.

From my experience being 3 years post op ... People who might have had a depression issue prior to surgery seem to have it going through the process. There is a point where u almost "grieve" for the food and social situations with it . The key is to get yourself in different social activities. The gym?, yoga, walking, book club, etc. you have to think... Your family and friends will be going though a change with you. You will be changing physically, emotionally, and mentally and they won't know how to relate. Involve them ex specially your husband in the changes you do to your life style. In the end you have to do what you need to for yourself... There will be highs and lows dealing with anxiety, fatigue , hormone changes, mood swings at time, etc. just be equipped to notice it and be able to accept and deal with it. Your family just needs to know you are doing it period and you need their support or you will have to space yourself from them until you reach your goal weight. They can either decide to help u in your goal or move out of the way while you achieve it. -

Anyone starting to get a slowdown in their losses?
Chittick24 replied to BigHappy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Don't stress. I'm 3 1/2 post op. your likely to hit a stall along the way. If your going to the gym even just doing cardio can gain muscle which will weigh more. (Keep in mind in the long run muscle buts fats). If your doing everything right... Just keep it up and maybe try to get some extra water in -
Defiantly sounds like dehydration. Try sip sip sip and slowly do more fluids

I know most people or carb crazy but will I ever be able to eat a sandwich again?
Chittick24 replied to endless80's topic in Food and Nutrition
I am 3 1/2 yrs post op. there are occasions that I eat a 6" sub with light veggies and the end pieces cut off since it is usually harder bread. It still fills me completely but I try to only do this in moderation. It's all about balance and I'm still a work in progress lol -
I cant stand liquids
Chittick24 replied to a_jap21's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know it sucks. Just hang in there. -
I guess it just depends on the person. I had no high blood pressure. No high cholesterol. No other risks to mention. And I had a stroke related to the depo. There is a risk of taking it that increased after the age of 30. I guess people just need to see what would work for them.
-
Please please please be careful.... I was on the pill after sleeve and got pregnant. The doctors don't have enough studies but the thought is that since there is less stomach there is less stomach lining to absorb the pill. I also got the depo postop and after having my son. I am the one in a million under 35 that have that slight chance of having a stroke.

please help! How to restart weight loss after surgery
Chittick24 replied to Beck'smom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm in the same boat you are. I got pregnant with my son just after a year post op. gained 35 while pregnant but a week after Shane was born I was back at my pre pregnancy weight. However...... He is 18 months old now and I have gained 40 lbs. I know sugar and carbs have snuck their way back in and I have to get that under control. I will be watching your tread to see what others suggest. -
Awesome job . You look great!

pregnancy weight gain worries
Chittick24 replied to joanne2013's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
I wAs just over a year post op when I found out I was pregnant. I gained 30 lbs through out which dropped pretty quickly after I gave birth. However, you have to deal with a new baby, exhaustion and getting yourself back into sleeve life. That meaning meals, protein, water etc. that is what I didn't do and I gained 30 lbs in 18 months. Now I'm back and trying to lose. Do as best you can to make a schedule that will allow you to get back in to pre pregnancy maintenance
