    PUREE Stage.....yuck! Help!

I haven't pureed anything.. I was given a list of soft foods I could have besides puree.. stuff like tuna, flakey fish, etc. I'm just about sick of it by now, but at least I didn't have to blend anything up

I feel as if I made a bad decision.

Depending on the corrosion caused by the band, the bypass actually could make sense. Really though, they need to take a close look and see what the issues is

    Side Sleeping ?

I pretty much had to the first night.. I wasn't getting enough oxygen on my back (I assume from apnea). It was hard to get into that position, but boy was it worth it as I didn't have anyone waking me up and telling me to breathe!

saying goodbye to my old friend...FOOD

I was dumb and arrogant before the surgery. I had the thought that 'food isn't really that important to me, I just consume mass quantities of it at a sitting'. It wasn't until after surgery and the head hunger began that I came to fully realize how completely wrong I was. I was addicted and in denial about it. Heh, I really thought that with reduced capacity I wouldn't miss food that much I'll be a month out tomorrow, and while the head hunger hasn't completely gone away, it's quieted way down. I'm hoping that with more time it will just blend into the background.

    Pictures for the first time

Wow, all from your tummy! It's quite noticeable!
  7. I've found that most nutritionists are bonkers Well that's not true.. I just think they don't have a lot in the way of real guidelines. I think they're all taught something different, and they take what they've learned and rarely iterate on it. I'm 6'3, but I was still told to only take in 400-600 calories per day for 6 months, with little to no carbs. It's the same thing they tell everyone, but NOBODY is the same! Hell, I can't survive on 600 calories, let alone 400! I was also told, with a straight face, to only take in that many calories and NO SNACKING W - T - F?! To me that just sounds like a recipe for failure.. there's a reason I got surgery, I've already proven that when I restrict myself too much I go nanners! I will tell you though, what helped my 'movements' was adding some fat back into my diet. I get almost no Fiber, but with some fat everything is.. um.. smooth sailing?
  8. I have bad head hunger as well. My only recourse is to always be eating Protein. Even if I eat outside of a meal I make sure it's protein. It's not the fries I really want, but it tamps down other cravings and fills me up too much to eat more stuff.

    Maybe im weird

I never felt full until I started getting real food. Truth be told, I still don't really get full.. that is, feeling full has changed. It's not the same feeling, now it just kind of hurts in my esophagus when I eat too much vs feeling full in my stomach. It's definitely a learning curve
  10. They taste like hell to me, but post op Isopure helped me. 20 oz of liquid with 40 grams of Protein. Helped with getting both items out of the way
  11. I didn't really receive instruction, but it was probably 2 to 2 1/2 weeks. No real issues, but my abs felt like I did 100 crunches the next day

    Gluttonous PIG!

I had that issue as well. it wasn't acid (on prilosec), and wasn't head hunger (actual hunger cramps), but for the life of me nobody would believe me. You can't be hungry they said. Sorry, bitterness crept in there. Anyway, it gets better as soon as you get to the puréed stage. You may still be a little hungry, but not nearly as bad. Once you get to solids you'll finally get satiated. Unfortunately though, I had to just grin and bear it until that stage. It may be different for you though, it could be acid or something. We're all different after all. But, I believe you.
  13. I know what you're looking for.. you're looking to walk into a room and hear "daaamn girl, lookin gooood"! I know because underneath all that gratefulness at losing weight, it's what we all want If its any consolation I'm hoping for a Leo DiCaprio moment!

To tell or not to tell...

I tell anyone that will listen. I mean I don't start conversations with strangers about it, but I'm not shy about it. I've been shrugging off judge-y people my whole life, so they don't bother me. However, there's a TON of big'uns out there, and a lot of them are really curious about their options

    Love/hate my restriction

Wow, I hope I still have that kind of restriction at 18 months!

    Bad breath?

LoL, its near impossible to prepare for the doom that is ketosis breath

Can't tell if I'm full, can you?!

Measuring is the best bet. I've learned that feeling full is different now than before surgery. Before it just felt like a rock in the stomach, now it feels like stuff is backing up into my esophagus, most unpleasant.

    Bougie size?

Mine was 38, no problems here

16 days Post-Op, Sad & full of regret

I won't repeat what everyone else has said, but I think its important to keep something in mind.. In a year you won't be as restricted. In other words, you'll be eating like skinny people eat, and they seem pretty happy

    Introducing Myself

Welcome Kate! I had that issue too, the one where everyone around had a hard stance against wls. I really only tried hardcore diets once, so they kept telling me that I should keep at it. Thing was, they're all overweight as well. It was mean, but I was forced to ask them how well that was working for them. Also, if you research the stats, the odds are against us losing long term. If I have any advise, its that we're all different. Our reactions to the surgery is different, our surgeons plan are different, our weight loss is different. There are some commonalities, but don't be surprised if something in your journey doesn't match up to everyone else

    Not bragging but.....

Concerning the cravings, it gets better. I had bad head hunger for about a week and a half. It was like someone was standing over my shoulder screaming CHEESEBURGER! Now its more like I get text messages letting me know that cheeseburgers are a thing and they're pretty good. So I still get cravings, but its waaay more manageable now.

    VERY FRUSTRATED

Eak, sorry to hear that! sending good vibes, and keep us posted!
  24. Carbs and sugar allow you to squeeze soo many calories into a small amount of food. since I'm not that far out I don't feel right giving advice, but id think that switching back to eating Protein first may prevent you from getting sugar in

    Oink oink before pre-op liquids?

I had one long 3 month funeral during my required insurance time-out, and I regret none of it! Even gained 20lbs. I lost 50 lbs from my pre op and the two weeks after the surgery, but I'm a dude so you shouldn't count on that
