Good for you!!!! I'll find out that info on Thursday!!! Good luck and keep us posted!!! -
Congrats!!

I can't wait to have all that skin!!! It means that I'm losing what I wanted to and will be sort of a badge of honor to me!!! Not only that but I'll be able to wrap myself in it and probably be able to wrap my boobs around my neck like a stole and stay warm next winter!!! (sorry if I offended anyone...)

I know. This is a sob story. Sorry. Just felt I had to type this. I just found out today that I have osteoperosis. I'm only 59!!! What the heck!!!! I've been put on Fosomax 70mg but for whatever reason, I just feel it won't be enough. I had a dexascan in 2001 and was told at that time that I had osteopenia and that if I took Calcium it would be reversed. I have been faithful in taking calcium for all these years and now it's worse. If this has done anything, it is has made me even more determined to have this surgery to get the weight off my frame. And I will admit, I did cheat a little on my 1200 cal. a day diet. Guess I had to get the last bit of emotional eating out of my system. So, ho-hum...it's off to bed I go. I work graveshift from 1 a.m. to 9 a.m. so I guess I better hit the hay and get my rest. Thanks for listening and maybe understanding. Hug your loved ones and appreciate what you have today because tomorrow is never certain...

I agree...cottage cheese is icky! And, I also agree...why not eat greek yogurt instead!

Stick to your guns!!! Sounds crazy but, it's a tough love kind of decision!! You love them to death, but when it comes to your body, well, it is your body!!!! I also am at the age where I can't wait any longer. I turn 60 next September and want to look half way good!!! I'm 5' .5" and started at 226, BMI of 43.4. Some of the people I work with are nay sayers. I listen, but that's all I do. My husband and kids are a great support system. My hubby goes with me to my appts. and is curious about the whole process. We will all be here to support you no matter what your family or anyone says. Good luck to you and as someone else said, be strong!

Sleeve Day: This is it!
MNMema replied to Disabledaccount's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You will be in my prayers! Good luck to you and keep that positive attitude going!!! -
I'm thinking that if anyone truly "busted" their sleeve open they wouldn't be here to talk about it!
-
I agree...just eat everything bad and get your BMI up to 40. That truly is a magic number! I know this sounds wierd but it will work! Sorry you are having a tough time though...that would be a terrible letdown.

Congrats!!!!! I am a US 18 - 20 and can't wait to be a 10 - 12!!!! I hope, in a small way, that I have the same problem as you!!! Not seeing myself as thin!!!!

With a desk job, I've heard that a couple of weeks is OK. I have a more physical demanding job. Not super demanding but can't have any restrictions. I was told I will probably need to take 4 weeks off if not more. If I have to have my gall bladder out as well, I won't feel as bad about missing that much work. Everyone is so, so different!

Before and After pics with starting weight less 220?
MNMema replied to Gelica's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 59 and my arms and girls sag already! I figure when I lose 90 lbs I'll be able to wrap up in my loose skin and keep warm next winter! -
I've always been told that cocoa butter cream works great on scars.

Will you lie about the surgery?
MNMema replied to BigD35's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with indecision. I won't lie about it, nor do I care what other people think. I'm proud of myself for making this decision and all the trials and tribulations that go with it. I work with quite a few people that should consider WLS but for whatever reason they choose not to. They have been, for the most part, a great support network. There are a few nay-sayers but oh well, that's their opinion. Good luck on whatever you decide to do. -

Help! What kind of surgery am i having?
MNMema replied to Kay York's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There is no need to tell them ahead of time what kind of surgery you are having. After you are back is just fine. There are a lot of nay-sayers about wls out there. If you tell them when you get back you won't have to listen to the negative talk and hopefully they will praise you for your courage and tell you how great you look! Good luck!! Keep us posted! -
5 days post op and cant keep anything down
MNMema replied to crosabi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm sorry you're having so much trouble. Hope you can get it resolved real soon! And, yes, that is a laxative! I don't think it fits this picture... -
Good for you! I have mine on the 16th followed by the testing the same day. The follow up is on Halloween!!! Good luck with the rest of your journey!!

I just got my blood test results and my vitamin D level is lower than it was 1 1/2 years ago! I started this process back in 2012 then backed out. I started again now and had to have the tests done again. My vit. d is lower and my pth is higher. I did some reading and it says this could be hyperthyroidism and also talks about osteoporosis! I've been taking 2000 iu of D for over a year now. Now I'm afraid this will put my surgery in jeopardy! Has anyone else had this problem?
-
Wow! Nice to see I'm not alone!!! I did go to my PCP and she put me on 5000 IU a day. I am at 26.7 for my D level. I am also having a bone density test tomorrow because my PTH level is high which could mean Osteoperosis. She said if that comes back positive, she will treat it aggressively. Yes gomekast I am from Minnesota!

My question to you is...do you have a dr. here in the states that is willing to take over your care once you are done??? From what I have heard, they have a terrible time getting your records from MX. Just be careful.
