Plastic Surgery after WLS in Australia
ausmith replied to ausmith's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Hi have you done any research on Bangkok I'm just about ready to start looking for a surgeon there and wondered if you had any starting points for me ? -
I'm 18months out now and have been stable for the last 6 months. Now it's time to find a Plastic Surgeon to have the excess skin removed. Can anyone recommend a good Plastic Surgeon in either Brisbane or Sydney. Im happy to travel to either state, my first quote here has been over 130k which is not going to happen. Also need information on claiming some of the procedures through Aus Medical insurance specifically Medibank Private. If anyone has any info please share

Arm Lift Revision
ausmith replied to shellbell125's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I would get it revised not that I couldn't live with what you have but you have already been through it and don't have the result you wanted. In regards to the lipo by doing that won't it leave more loose skin on your thigh's? -
I've had the veins in my nose and Chin done this week and it hurt like hell. Imagine someone flicking you with a rubber band continually. Ahhh hope it works

Have you had the TT yet and if so are you happy with it ? -
Maybe a spray Tan is going to be your Friend this time around. By protecting them now your going to be so much happier in the Long run

RJ why don't you contact one of the companies that make the support wear. Tell them your story, tell them what you need and see if they can make a proto-type for you. Once they have it right get yourself a couple. Some of the doors you knock on may say no but keep trying you certainly arn't a quitter. I know if I worked for a company and I got a letter from you telling me your story I would do everything in my power to give you something that is going to give you some of the confidence you would have got from surgery. Let's face it even if their cold hearted and charge you for it, it has to be cheaper than plastics. While in Malaysia there were a lot of women in TOP to bottom Long swim suits. Something along the lines of that could be a starting point. Made out of the right fabric it could be what you are looking for. Good Luck you deserve to have this request granted you have been through so much.

You're welcome! The board is at http://www.obesityhelp.com/group/Dr_Sauceda_Patients/discussion/ The time you stay is going to depend on your procedures. I had two surgeries (body and face) so I needed to stay the whole time. Ask Dr S if 9 days will be enough for what you're having done. The biggest issue is making sure you're ready for the trip home. It's exhausting. I went alone, but I had my sleeve done in Mexico so I was ok with it. I also met two people on the Facebook group having surgery at the same time. Yes, I woke up a few times but the epidural was in and didn't feel anything. I remember asking are you done yet and instantly was back asleep. It was not stressful at all. Dr. S's wife is the anesthesiologist and she monitors you the whole time. They do most surgery in Mexico with twilight because it has fewer side effects. Wish they would in the US. Thanks so much, I feel great! Here's my before wls pic: ImageUploadedByBariatricPal1454711471.693267.jpg I know you have said get in contact with him for a quote but I am curious as to what you paid. From your pictures he has done a great job -
serious question for fellow "veterans"
ausmith replied to CowgirlJane's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I think your advice is definitely valuable to short and Long term sleever's. Some may not want to hear it but it's those silent others who are great full to hear what you have to say. The surgery hasn't changed the people the mass market are targeting may have changed to anyone and everyone but for those that are or were in the same place as us they can't pay for the advice and knowledge that is shared by the vet's that persevere and stick around. Good or bad we can only share what we have learnt through our journey and if the surgery hasn't changed then what we have to share is relevant. -

Weight Redistribution: Hormones or Sleeve settlement
ausmith replied to windycitymom's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
My Husband lost the weight very fast and got to goal within the first 7 months while it took me 12 months. We are about 2yrs 4 months out and at about 14 months in photo's and to look at him you would think he was to thin but when he sat down and through his shirts you could see love handles that had not been there when he first lost the weight and he still struggles with it even though he has gained no weight. He is 43, I've just turned 50 and have noticed in the last 3 months I'm much rounder in the tummy than I was but weight is within 5 pounds. Interested to hear from others -
Appetite suppressants (prescribed) 2 years out...
ausmith replied to McButterpants's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Wow not sure what to say because I don't want you to feel any worse. What you have gained is not excessive and I hope that if you went back to basics it would get you back on track. Easier said than done with all the Travelling you have done but why not go back to logging everything you eat and drink and go back to planning all meals and Snacks for the week. I am 2yrs 4months and I find when I plan all meals and snacks for myself and Husband we get back on track very quickly, even if we are Travelling which we also do a lot of. So I Guess what I'm saying is don't be to hard on yourself and give it another try before resorting back to our old diet mentality. Your strong I have read your post's from the start, I know it's hard but I think you can do it. Organisation seems to be our Best Friend on the road to good health, good luck. -
I will be 20 months out in June and plan on getting full body lift. ( legs, bum, stomach, boobs and arms ) maybe neck not sure. I am only just starting my research now, has anyone had this much work done and if so what sort of time period. I don't like pain so I would love to have as much as possible done at the same time followed closely by anything that wasn't done the first time round because I'm scared if it hurts to much I won't get the rest done. Anyone had a similar experience?

Aussie girl sleeve Fri 28 August!
ausmith replied to smileygal's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi I'm from Aus and have been living over seas for 5 yrs. I had the surgery about 2 yrs ago and have lost about 51.5kg and maintain around 63 to 65kg. It is the best thing any of you can do for yourself. I haven't told any family or friends about it except Husband, Son and Sister that's it. It has been easier as we only visit once a year. I forgot to mention my Husband was sleeved on the same day and he has lost about 55kg. We had our surgery in Brisbane -
Have You Convinced Anyone Else To Have The Surgery?
ausmith replied to Proud2BMe's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My Husband and I had ours 2 yrs ago. When I told him what I wanted to do the first thing he said is that dangerous? After telling him everything I had learned about it, he turned around and said I'm in lets do it. 2 yrs latter we are both at goal with no regrets -

Drain on the paper towel after its cooked then add a tablespoon of mashed avocado and a tablespoon of crumbled bacon Done in less than 2 min

You are a true inspiration for others in the same predicament. You have shown that it can be done and that your still on a great path going forward. Once again well done Bec
