My Lunch: A Pictorial Attempt To Show You Life Will Be Normal
ausmith replied to gamergirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know the feeling my husband is now below his goal weight and looks like he was never big it's crazy. I still have about 46lb to go but know without a doubt it works, all I have to do is look at him. Great experience with fantastic rewards when we get to where we want to be. -

Rate of Loss. 6 Month Weight Loss Metrics For Info/Comparison
ausmith replied to Madam Reverie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Just to add a bit more salt into the wound his excess skin isn't bad at all. He just needs to tone up a little and you would never know that he has struggled with his weight. I on the other hand have more than a couple of handbags hanging off this body. Arms, legs, belly and boobs. Neck 's not looking so great either. So there was one lottery winner in our house and it wasn't me. Not that I'm complaining to much because we were sleeved on the same day and I live with the proof that it DOES work. So that's enough to keep me motivated. The positive side is he won't need PS so that means more money for the huge repair job I'll be needing. -
Rate of Loss. 6 Month Weight Loss Metrics For Info/Comparison
ausmith replied to Madam Reverie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
He started with a BMI of 41.1 and now is at 26.4. This is still classed as over weight but he is starting to look too thin so has decided to stay at 80kg which is 176lb. So not sure if I agree on the BMI being the goal in his case because he would seriously look under nourished if he got much smaller. -

I'm from Aus and asked about the no straw restriction before my operation and was told by the Dr no I don't have an issue with using straws, actually he used a cut down straw and small tablet cups for me to use while I was in hospital filled with water. The aim was to get 8 of them down every couple of hrs. It worked great and I have continued to use a straw with whatever I am drinking as it seems to be easier and helps to get more down.

Fingers crossed for you Bec, hopefully it's now your time. Keep us updated with your process

Yes I was the same 1 shot of espresso in my shake every morning

A long tight Lycra singlet will hide any jelly belly. Yes you could get spanks but the cheap option is the long Lycra singlet which I buy from Target in Aus so maybe check out some of the cheaper dept stores.

How Do You Plan Your Meals?
ausmith replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was the same as you but have now included a vegetable juice each day for myself and husband. We just can't fit vege's in yet so by having the juice we are not missing out on anything. I also include 1/2 apple with the vege's to take the horrible taste away. We no longer waste any of the veg because I just throw in what ever there is and don't bother cooking veg with the protein unless it is included in a recipe. -
So much easier for guys in our experience. I am doing exercise daily and my husband does exercise randomly. He will now start to exercise to tone up now that he is at goal. I'll keep pushing forward like I have been

Thank you

Should you brush your teeth before or after ?

Mine was white when I spat it out. I also thought it must have come from the whisk like process

Just tried it, not sure how long I will be able to keep at it but worth a try I think.

Hi make sure you wear compression socks and continually drink water through out the flight. The Dr may give you some other form of medication while you are there to prevent blood clots on the way home. Send an email to your Dr and tell them that you are nervous about the 6hr flight do they have any special recommendations. Don't panic

Hi my husband and myself had surgery the same day as you. I have lost 64 and my husband has lost almost 93. I am the same as you in regards to stall for the last month. You just need to get back on plan. Correct amount of protein, correct amount of fluid and low carbs. I am frustrated but sticking to what I have been told to do and will not sabotage myself this time. Trust me when your husband is only about 4.5 from goal and you still have almost 59 to go it messes with your head but I get up every morning follow my plan, walk 5km and tell myself it will move and I WILL get there. Hang in there you can do it.

went to the ER with chest pains, guess what it was?
ausmith replied to birdmadgirl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Lisa my heart goes out to you. There is nothing any of us can do for you except be here for you when you need to talk. Try to make the most of this time you have with your husband. I think you have made up your mind to put your health issues to the side and concentrate on the time you have with him. That is an amazing sacrifice and I want you to know that I am praying for you both. Take Care -
