Looking for some veteran sleeve guidance… HELP!
ausmith replied to GreenEyes604's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sounds like you have hit the wall but it does get better. Concentrate on one thing at a time fluids first to prevent dehydration because this will knock the wind out of you. Then protein so that you have the energy to get through the day then start working on the amount of calories you have been told to aim for. Fluid and Protein will make you start to feel better, you can do it and when you do you will feel so much better and so happy you made this decision -
Help, i need help.. No to the site but no anwered from no want. Have lots of question traveling to Mexico. Having surgery with dr. alejandro lopez. Frying fron NJ to San Diego.. 6 hours flght and very nervous... Some please anwer me please. How is the flight? Hi I am from Australia and needed to fly 10 days after surgery so my Dr made me use blood thinners for a week before and a week after I also had to wear compression socks. My flight was about 7.5hrs. I also had to constantly sip Fluid through out the flight. Call the office of the Dr and tell them you are nervous about blood clots from flying so soon after surgery and ask them what they suggest to prevent it. Take a small pillow to hold against your tummy in case it gets a bit sore during the flight other than that you will be fine

Husband is so negative about my Weight Loss Surgery :(
ausmith replied to Totoro's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
That's the perfect analogy for it. That's why my husband and I did it together because not only would he have gone through that, if it was the other way around I can honestly say I would have done the same. -

My husband and I had surgery together 16months ago. Funny the things your husband said I actually thought about them when I first started researching the sleeve. I knew that if he went first I would have been jealous and if I went first he would be the same. We were both very over weight and nothing worked and we were both enablers to the other. Give him time and even though he says he would never do it, start investigating it for him. Get him to go to your appointments with you. Once he see's your results he may change his mind and want to have the surgery to. If not I fear you have a rocky road ahead. We also had ours in Australia and we are so happy we did it. Each of us have lost over 50kg's each. Life is great 16 months out. ( although he lost his a lot quicker than I did grrrr ) good Luck -

Spend about 1/2hr writing down all of the issues you are experiencing for examples what foods you are ok with and what you are not ok with. Even if they are foods you shouldn't be eating if you can keep them down the Dr needs to know what they are. Also what you are drinking and as close as possible the amounts of it. Also how often you are going to the bathroom. Having all of this written down will help you to give him as much information as possible and not missing something that could trigger a solution to the problem for you. Good Luck -
Just bought a size 10 goal pants - am I being unrealistic?
ausmith replied to yogachick's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Don't worry if you do everything you are supposed to you will hit that goal size prob have to give them away because you may end up a smaller size. Good Luck who says NO to Vera for $5 -
The Prilosec should be helping with any reflux etc but it sounds like you are experiencing the slimes. My husband and I were sleeved the same day about 16months ago. He still has the slimes issue from time to time but I prob only experienced it once or twice. They say it is caused by eating to fast or by foods that no longer agree with you since the sleeve. Go back to basics make sure your not drinking anything 30min before or after meals, slow down your eating and make sure you are chewing properly. Also start monitoring the food you are eating. For example take cottage cheese out of your diet for 2 full days and follow all of the basics. If it still happens put the cottage cheese back in and take out the yougurt. It might take a little while to eliminate what the triggers are but hopefully by doing this it will help you. Also make sure you are getting all of your fluids in and sip slowly. You could be dehydrated and then when you eat the food won't go down properly. If none of this works make sure you have kept notes on all of the things you have tried and make an appointment to see your surgeon and let him help you. If the discomfort is to bad make an appointment to see them ASAP. Hope this helps

Hi you are very lucky I have lots of skin but my husband who also had the sleeve doesn't. We are about 15mths out and exercise has really helped him with the jiggle. Me not so much so planning on surgery this year to remove it.

I love this post unfortunately I'm in Singapore and there are next to none of those fantastic S/F flavourings here. I take a day trip to KL as often as I can to get the Syntrax nectar other than that the basic chocolate or vanilla Protein powder. Not a lot going on here with Bariatric surgery and those that are doing it charge crazy prices. So we had to go home to have our surgery over 12 months ago. I get jealous when ever I read about some of the great products you guys can get so readily. Good Luck sounds like you had a plan and stuck to it.

Hi no there was about 6 weeks from first contact until surgery. We were covered by private insurance so I'm not sure if that made any difference. We did have 1 nutritionalist appointment and 2 psychologist appointments in those 6 weeks that were required. Also blood test

Brendan I remember your terrible struggle last year. I was just researching at the time and had surgery in the Oct. Both myself and my husband had surgery on the same day. Not sure if it helps but men lose a lot faster and a lot easier than women, so if you can get through the pre diet nothing will stop you achieving your goal. My husband lost over 50kg in the first 8 months with very little exercise. I on the other hand have taken a year to get to goal also have lost 50kg but it has def been worth it. Even if you have to lock yourself in a room and sleep for 2 weeks before surgery. DO it you will never regret it and I think we all know without the surgery it is impossible to lose it AND keep it off. Let us know how you go

Honest thoughts before my surgery

Good luck to all of you having your surgery on the 22nd my husband and I were sleeved on the 22nd October 2013. I have lost 107lb and he has lost 109lb. It's life changing. -
Great to hear from you Bec. All great here, anniversary tomorrow and I'm 2kg off goal which is still a fantastic effort. My husband has been at goal for about 3 mths and has actually gone under by about 5kg. So hopefully his will settle down soon and hopefully I get these last 2 off in the next month. I'm considering trying to lose an extra 5 and then I will be at 60kg and then I'll have a good buffer for over the holiday season. Good Luck with the IVF you have put yourself in the very best position in regards to health to make it happen for you guys. Good Luck and let us know how you go. Hoping the others will drop in from time to time so we can hear how they are going. Don't worry about the extra weight I'm sure it must be hormones from the IVF. Take care
