November buddies where are you?
PracticingPatience replied to soonerorlater's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I know exactly what you mean. I'm set for some sort of full liquid Armageddon, with stockpiles of pudding and ff cream soups, plus buckets of protein powder. Friday I'll start stocking up for the rest of my family. How are full liquids going? I start Sunday and am feeling like a fruitcake already. -

Bamagirl, I'm BCBS as well, and it really was under 72 hrs. I got the call to schedule, then a week later got the insurance letter, which I kept. -

Are you feeling ready? I'm researching and shopping and arranging. It's like having another baby, but without the midnight screaming and diapers (I hope). Are you looking for a surgery bud, because I could use one. -

Handling the Holidays with a Baby Sleeve
PracticingPatience replied to Sleevesdropper's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I know, I'm halfway between "Whee Ha" and "What the Hell am I thinking?" And a woman (who works in my surgeon's office) asked if I was sure I wanted to do this during the holidays. I told her if the options were big butt and high blood pressure or no pecan pie, I'd skip the pie. I'm ready, and feeling ferocious! Damn the turkey, full speed ahead! -

You know, another option would be to reply with the most farfetched thing you can imagine, such as "Tapeworms will do that for ya" or "You know, turns out Voodoo diet self-hypnosis really does work! I just sit and stare for hours and never even think about potato chips." The fun begins when they tell co-workers about your worms. One of two things will happen. Either they'll sound like complete morons, or no one will ever steal your lunch again. Either way, yay!

2btrim, I hear you! I'm in South Alabama, and we refer to it as "no home trainin'". At the same time, I'm a nurse, and I've run into so many people who want to ask questions or are looking for information and support and just don't know the polite way to do that. I guess "I'm thinking about weight loss surgery, is it something you considered?" never occurred to them. Bless their hearts.

What was the reason for the lie? That's likely where the guilt comes from. Meanwhile, asking about an acquaintance's medical history is a little intrusive. Sometimes people, well meaning as they might be, can leave others in a very awkward circumstance, such as "do I tell them I had surgery or deny it to make this conversation end?" When faced with the rude (even accidentally so) you do the best you can, and give yourself permission to be a little weird in your response. Personally, I have a policy not to answer overly person questions at all. I'll respond with a polite question such as "Why, are you considering surgery?" If they are, we might have a reason to talk about it,
