Have a safe trip home Phyl, don't be too much of a back seat driver for your hubby LOL Is he good on the road or does he get 'crabby' while he drives? My DH is fine as long as I don't ask to stop and pee, or see a historical site along the way... He is a point A to Point B driver... Me I like to doddle along the route and see new sites. I said goodbye to a patient of mine yest. she graduated from her laser therapy for Smoking Cessation. She was down to 1 cig per day from 25, so I told her she just needed a wee nudge in the right direction. I asked her where her smokes were... She said "Oh, in my purse"... so I asked her if she was ready to hand them over to me... I have this huge collection of everyone's old cigarettes on the shelf in my office. I am so proud of her, she has smoked for 40 yrs. I've enjoyed meeting her (treating her) and I invited her to drop by the office anytime to say hello... so I hope she does that. My tummy is still tender, I put on a girdle today, may give me more support... I only took 1 pain pill yesterday, and I think I may take another before I head off to work. I went grocery shopping this a.m. picked up a box of frozen chicken and though Augh!!! not smart incision really pulling. But that's a good thing as i am sure its a sign of healing... When can I go for my first fill???? Do I have to wait for all bruising to subside???

Hi Janet; Try the microwave method instead. Cut in half, scoop out seeds & discard. Place squash cut side down in a dish or pie plate put in 1/4 cup water and cover with saran wrap... Cook on high for 8 mins. then check, add another 2-3 minutes until you get it stringy and just right. It solved my post surgical slow bowel problem (TMI) last night for me. I was dying after the anesthetic... o.k. now. I am Red, White & Blue on my belly.... does that make me an Honourary American??? LOL :puke:

An old lady was standing at the railing of the cruise ship holding her hat tight so that it would not blow away in the wind. A gentleman approached her and said, 'Pardon me, madam. I do not intend to be forward but did you know that your dress is blowing up in this high wind?' 'Yes, I know,' said the lady. 'I need both my hands to hold onto this hat.' 'But madam, you must know that you are not wearing any panties and your privates are exposed!' said the gentleman in earnest. The woman looked down, then back up at the man and replied, 'Sir, anything you see down there is 85 years old. I just bought this hat yesterday!' --

FIRST DEGREE A married couple were asleep when the phone rang at 2 in the morning. The wife (undoubtedly blonde), picked up the phone, listened a moment and said, "How should I know, that's 200 miles from here!" and hung up. The husband said, "Who was that?" The wife said, "I don't know, some woman wanting to know if the coast is clear." SECOND DEGREE Two blondes are walking down the street. One notices a compact on the sidewalk and leans down to pick it up. She opens it, looks in the mirror and says, "Hmm, this person looks familiar." The second blonde says, "Here, let me see!" So the first blonde hands her the compact. The second one looks in the mirror and says, "You dummy, it's me!" THIRD DEGREE A blonde suspects her boyfriend of cheating on her, so she goes out and buys a gun. She goes to his apartment unexpectedly and when she opens the door she finds him in the arms of a redhead. Well, the blonde is really angry. She opens her purse to take out the gun, and as she does so, she is overcome with grief. She takes the gun and puts it to her head. The boyfriend yells, "No, honey, don't do it!!!" The blonde replies, "Shut up, you're next!" FOURTH DEGREE A blonde was bragging about her knowledge of state capitals. She proudly says, "Go ahead, ask me, I know all of them." A friend says, "OK, what's the capital of Wisconsin?" The blonde replies, "Oh, that's easy: W." FIFTH DEGREE What did the blonde ask her doctor when he told her she was pregnant? "Is it mine?" SIXTH DEGREE Bambi, a blonde in her fourth year as a UCLA freshman, sat in her US government class. The professor asked Bambi if she knew what Roe vs. Wade was about. Bambi pondered the question then finally said, "That was the decision George Washington had to make before he crossed the Delaware." SEVENTH DEGREE Returning home from work, a blonde was shocked to find her house ransacked and burglarized. She telephoned the police at once and reported the crime. The police dispatcher broadcast the call on the radio, and a K-9 unit, patrolling nearby was the first to respond. As the K-9 officer approached the house with his dog on a leash, the blonde ran out on the porch, shuddered at the sight of the cop and his dog, then sat down on the steps. Putting her face in her hands, she moaned, "I come home to find all my possessions stolen. I call the police for help, and what do they do? They send me a BLIND policeman!"

    moving your port site

Hi Ladies; Just thought I'd pop by to let you know that my Tubing and port replacement surgery went well on Frid. 15 mins. There were 2 nicks in my tubing, all of my fills had been done by the same nurse. With the exception of the 3 fluro fills done by Dr. Yau himself. I am healing o.k. and my new port is 1 1/2 " to the left of the previous one.. Bruised like hell, but I'm happy its behind me and I can now start losing weight.

to heal. Your stomach is a muscle and when it has to digest food (other than liquids) it has to churn and move about... If your stomach is supposed to be being "STILL" so that your BAND will set up in the right positiion you MUST follow the post op diet rules... and only progress from liquids, tomushies to solids when allowed by your Doctor (lap band manufacturer).. These stages are for good reason, suck it up and just do as you are told or there could be unforseen complications down the road. Why risk it???

270 cals? well spent I'd say.... I am sure you thoroughly enjoyed your treat. And if I know you, you'll leave it at that, just a treat. You are remarkably strong and focused... hummmm, tattoo - well I;m still contemplating... it would involve pain right? And my tummy is tender and bruised today.... Perhaps I'll get a single ear peircing while in Mn. on OUR trip. I could maybe afford ONE diamond chip hee,hee,hee...

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

A few of 'ol gals know each other here quite well, as we've been banded since July07. But I re-iterate... follow your Surgeon's directions when it comes to re-introducing Mushy & Solid foods... Don't rush the process... Those recommendations are there for GOOD reason. You arn't the only bandster that's come along that wants to 'bend' the rules LOL... Avoid complications and possible re-surgeries... I did everything post op just like I was told and I still ended up with complications. I just had my tubing and PORT replaced Friday past. During a fill the nurse poked a couple of holes in my tubing therefore I've had a slow leak for the last several months.... and not great restriction. All fixed now and just need to get =re=inflated so to speak. Good luck everyone Candice
  15. Dear Lisa' Be patient, you'll need more than 2 fills to get you to your sweet spot in a 9cc band. The fills go like this... 1st fill you got 3cc 2nd fill you might get 1.5 cc's 3rd fill you might get .75 4th fill you might get .5 you get the idea???? They build you up slowly, and 1/2 the previous fill each time until you get restriction. Good luck:wub:

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

For those of you just post-op and on full liquids. Don't worry if you don't get 800-1000- in, just concentrate on PROTIEN, don't let that drop below 60grams for the day. This can be accomplished with 3 or 4 quality protien shakes. Low sugar (not slimfast) I make it a practice to eat off of a luncheon size plate all the time now. And I've stopped using a cereal/soup bowl. As it was way too big, holds almost 2 cups...

    Mexico for a Canadian

We are referring to the same thing. Being put to sleep is General Anesthetic... same as when I had my band initially input. Actually when I went into the OR I didn't know if I was getting a whole new band(ie if the leak was coming from the band itself) or if I was getting my port Tubing replaced( it was the later). So I still hav e 5 poke hole incisions to heal up and some bruises today. But my HUBBY said Dr. Yau was out into the waiting room in 20 mins. done. So I wasn't out that long. Feeliing great today, just a wee bit of tenderness around my port incision.

There was no charge to me (just the suffering ha,ha,ha and waiting for repair) I have always had my fills done by his RN there at the clinic so no way could anyone else be blamed. Just plain old human error.. I think I'll get my port site tatooed what do you think?

Linda and Steph; So glad to hear that the scale moved for you both... YEAh,, its wonderful after you've had a stall. I like to watch Dateline, so perhaps I'll catch that story. Somebody asked if I got any fill today under surgery. YES!!! He put in 6 cc's to start me off.. then I can go back in a week or two for more, probably 3 or 2cc's at that time. Can't tell if I have any restriction at this point just taking it easy with food today. No PB's 2 pro drinks and 3 turkey meatballs/carrots and 1 hot chocolate. Have a nice night everyone! Candice

    Mexico for a Canadian

I just had my re-vision band surgery this a.m. I had a leak in my port tubing (needle prick) and Dr. Yau fixed it today. General anesthetic (Dr. Talmeiter is awesome) no pain, no nausea... I had a 5 hour sleep once I got home and now feel great. I especially feel great because it was done in Canada by my original Doctor for free. Part of the LIFETIME follow up care.. I don't think another thing needs to be said.

OH I am so grateful today!!! I got to the clinic at 6:45 a.m. for my7 o'clock appt. Surg was 8 a.m. sharp.... My surgeon discussed both options. 1) it Could be punctured TUBING near the port or 2) a Leak up at the BAND itself (very, very unlikely) YEAH, he put me to sleep and injected a blue dye and sure enough there were TWO needle pricks near the port in the tubing. So he just cut off and inch or so and replaced the port... I think it might be a 'lower profile" port as I could hardly find the sucker??? Plus its two inches to the left of my old one, which is a great position too. No Gas, No pain.. he said I am not giving you and Rx for pain as you'llnot need it... and I don't!~!! If anything I am grogging from the anesthetic but I slept on the car ride home 2 hrs and then 3 hrs in my bed and now I am typing this to YOU. I feel like I did 25 too many situps LOL OMG the whole thing was so uneventful and I am so releived that "I AM NOT NUTS" and there really was a leak like I had said all along since NOVEMBER!!! But no regrets, I'm happy its fixed and now I can get on with the job of losing...(and I don't mean fill) Thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers, I KNOW that swayed the outcome and I'll not forget you all in MY prayers either:tt1:
