 You are too funny Janet... I LOVE Oprah, but the show you refer to PISSED ME OFF as well. ANd you know what else I think? The people who say " oh I lost it all myself" are jealous that they didn't have OUR tool. Sure the band does help ( am finally getting it now) but I am also choosing Better Calories to eat.. watching my protien, calcium, sodium etc. Oh, and another NSV... by blood pressure PRE-band was 130/78, well now it is consistently 123/68!! I keep re checking it with different machines.. cause its almost too good to be true!!!! I am Happy:tt1: At work today, one of the massage therapists was eating a large chocolate bar and "sharing" ha.ha..... NOPE , thanks anyways - don't want it!!!! I will allow myself a sugar free Hot chocolate but that's it!

Good luck tonight! With all the weight you've lost I am sure it is bound to make a difference!~~~~ Who is calling you names... lemme at em..... nobody can dis a LUCKY 7 and live!!!! You are right about that! THe band is only a tool, we stil have to do all the MENTAL work chasing away our demons... We are never really free of the little Red Devil... Good work day today for me, got 2 new patients starting next week and didn't kill my last px of the day... He is one of those "insufferable boar" types, that likes to hear the sound of his own voice.... always correcting my grammar...:huh2: I hate that :crying: Food wise, I am right on track today!!! Down some lbs too... yeah... still not ready to update my tracker... as I am still above the 183 listed...

Phyl, I am so happy to hear that your DD called you... I know how much that hurts you when she gives you the cold shoulder :w00t: and yes I agree with Janet Your Wii exercise does count... I've played it and I sweat my butt off. I played Rock Star Hero yesterday at my DD and SIL is was fun, but not as much fun as Wii. Janet; I knew your eyes would not look that bad, I was trying to make you laugh and forget about the pizza... but your stratagy worked just fine... You had your treat and didn't overdue it... that's the BEST lesson. Steph; Wow your shopping trip sounds like it was a real event... finding those smaller sizes really must pick you up... I am still too chicken to go out and spend any money. And Miss Karri!!! I saved you until last because not only does your picture look awesome (the one from the back) YOU RAN THE WHOLE FREEKING 5 miles!!! Unbeleivable Girl!! I am so impressed with your determination and ZIP... way to go!! Got my fill yesterday, and wow was I tight this morning!!! A good tight though... could hardly drink my coffee right off the start... so I had a package of oatmeal w/ milk first... it went down o.k. but I had to take it real slow... Then I went and did gardening for 2 hours!!! DH put up my new clothes line, hung out laundry and I came in for lunch 2 p.m.... was JUST starting to get hungry... YEAHHHH my band may just be working!!!!! Lunch was 2 ham slices, buttered with Lite Cream cheese 2 tbsp, wrapped around a Heart of Palm, kinda like a carb=less Burrito.... get it?? then I had 1 oz. of pistachio nuts... now on to my water... gosh its hard to drink! Supper will be BBQ chicken ( I hear you janet, nothing tastes as good as BBQ'd meat) and some veg of some kind, havn't made up my mind yet. Snack will be pumpkin pudding w/cool whip light.. :huh2: Candice

I AM HUNGRY I WANT PIZZA - but i am fixing/eating fish- No I AM ORDERING PIZZA no i will eat fish - Want take bets on who wins??? the little angel below on my signature or the devil on my shoulder right now. Oh Janet, its already 10 p.m. here, why not pretend your visiting Ontario and its too late to Order Pizza... by the time it got to you it'd be after midnight, then you'd be up all night with acid reflux. In the morning your eyes and face would be all puffy frm the SALT in the cheese... and your new hairdo would not look as good on your face :smile2: Put some Parmesan cheese on your fish and perhaps a little pasta tomato sauce.... kinda like Chicken of the Sea Parmesan

Fill day today, so I drove to T.O. the nurse gave me 1/2 cc. So now I have a total of 6 1/2 cc's in a 10 cc band. I stayed well with in my Cal target for today 1077, Carbs133, Fat 32, Protien 67 grams. YEAH ME!!! and another day with out JUNK FOOD!!!:biggrin2: I was down 2 lbs (which includes the 1.6 that I reported the other day from my own scale at home) The clinic scale and mine are quite syncronized so that takes a lot of guess work out of the whole thing. Then i stopped at my DD and SIL's house and we had a nice afternoon playing GUITAR HERO... does anyone know about it? I really sucked because all the ROCK songs are from the 80's and 90's... I am sorry, but what ever happened to Beatles or Rolling Stones or Deaf Leapard music!!!!! sheesh how am I supposed to sing or play guitar to stuff I dont' even know??? We all had som good laughs though. On the way home from there I thought I'd stop at the Casino on the way..hee,hee,ee conveniently on the route  Well, I drove up and down all the aisles in the parking lot and there were no spaces... so I left!:smile2:

Janet; Kudos on your 4 #'s left to goal!!! You'll be there in no time. You don't need a life.... WE are you life LOL Gas prices here, are $1.29 per litre... and you multiply litre by 4 to get a US gallon (approx) so that's $5.16 Cdn a Us gallon... but i'm not going to try and do the US/Cdn $ conversion.... you get the idea. Now, as a Cdn I am puzzled, we have the Alberta Tar Sands that we derive oil from, we have Oil rigs off the Atlantic coast in Newfoundland and Nova Scotia... so how come our gas is so expensive???? Political B.S.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
peaches9 replied to IndioGirl55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
The LAP BAND will help you control PORTION size... it will not eliminate HEAD hunger or EMOTIONAL eation... That is a whole different kettle of fish! You need to really be sure you want to do this, you will have to work on your Emotional Issues, ie boredom eating, stress eating.. poor choice of food eating. You must school yourself in High Quality foods and eat them. Then the band will tell you when you are full. BUT, please be aware that if you choose something like Chocolate or JUNK food, it goes right thru the band... trust me on this... You will still have to obstain from junk food, sugar etc. Don't mean to be a bummer, but its what you need to know:rolleyes2: -
oops, I hit the multiquote button... then realized that this will be WAY too long... sorry Janet: You are not alone in the fat dream... I too think I will wake up and regain my 50+ lbs.... even though I have another 50 to go... its our heads... they take awhile to catch up with our bodies. "Mercurial" its a referance to a thermometer... The mercy rises and falls ... like our MOODS LOL :rolleyes2: get it? Phyl; I love your dialogues, you always make such good common sense! Stephanie; thanks for the email address, I've updated you. FIBRE, try adding Flax Seed Meal to all your recipes.. You can sprinkle it on oatmeal, cold cereal, blend it into puddings or protien shakes, casseroles, stir fries... its great stuff... not only fibre content but it is full of Omega 3 & 6 very good anti oxidants.... my favorite food!!!! Beth; glad to see you posting and sharing, can't wait to see you pictures too. Karri (Salsa); O.k. is it me? Am I the only one who's been getting mixed up between Karri and Kari AWK!!! Now I can't remember who's who... Where do you both come from, what part of the country??? I know one of you is from Michigan? right? Help me out here. MOM UPDATE: I took my Mom out yesterday. She was having a good energy day. So we went to Kelsey's for lunch (chain restaurant) and we SPLIT a burger and salad... I thought I was going to be able to stick to my calorie tally for the day... but when I got home and looked up the nutritional info on their web site I nearly had a STROKE... 700+ for 1/2 the meal... I couldn't beleive it. So needless to say I had a light supper, and p.m. snack. Today will be better and tomorrow is FILL DAY!!!!! O.k. so after lunch we went to Walmart. I usually get her a wheel chair and push her around (good cardio for me ha,ha) but there were NONE. So the greeter said "why not take an electric cart"... Mom would have to drive it herself!!! They would guard my moms WALKER while we shopped. So off we went, I would direct traffic and she drove herself in the cart. It was really cool and quite a chuckle!! She did very well and I was proud of her for trying it out... She bought herself a new lipstick, three blouses for summer and some socks and creams. A great adventure all around. Then on the way home I thought I'd stop for gas fillup and a wash. Gas prices are horrible here and she started taking a coughing fit at the pumps... It was aweful and I think she was very scared.. couldn't catch her breath. THe gas attendant was so kind, he ran and got her a bottled water, no charge. It is so refreshing to see a young person with some compassion. Once she was home she settled down and all in all it was a good day for her. We are getting a Cardio consult and seeing a Angiogram specialist in the next couple weeks ..

I'm APPROVED, but I want a sleeve......
peaches9 replied to Margoboo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
HI Margo: Great that you got approved!!! You are so lucky to be getting this paid for!! I was a self pay (Canada) $16,000 I think the sleeve would be a good option, as its a one time permanent solution. I have the band but the fill process takes a lot of time and travel for me. I live 2 1.5 hours from the clinic where I was banded. So every 2 wks going back an forth for fills during the winter months was a real pain in the @ss. Now, on the positive side, if ever you have some health issue in the future (& who knows what that holds?) you can be unfilled to receive full nutritian.. ie pregnancy, surgery whatever. The Gastric Sleeve is where they cut about 3/4 of your stomach away and discard it. you are left with a straight 'sleeve' of a stomach much smaller than you presently have. THUS, you can't put the volume of food into it and you lose weight. There is NO re-routing of you intestinal tract (which is a good thing) so you will have no malabsorbtion problems that are sometime associated with Roux-n-Y bypass. In the Bypass they cut your staple off your stomach, leaving a small pouch stomach, then they cut your intestine and reattach farther down the digestive tract... so that you don't Absorb as many calories. All proceedures have pros and cons... depending on your BMI and where you need to go. There is also a newer option available in Canada, the Gastric Balloon. How much weight do you need to loose? -
Oh Phyl, I am sorry to hear about your DD and you not getting along. I have only one child, a DD too. She and I are very much alike (Mercurial ha,ha.) so from time to time we 'get into it'... :crying: They know just how to wind us up.... but a Mothers love is almost always stronger... Hang in there, I'll cross my fingers for you that everything works out well. GREAT NEWS on the Doctors visit though. Wow, to be able to get off of meds is awesome indeed. She must be truly impressed with your progress. You and I will be plugging along together when everyone else has gotten to their goals.. That's o.k. We'll be there for each other right? Besides, I know the other gals will be Rockin' On right with us and encouraging us all the way until ALL the LUCKY 7's are at goal... We will be one band (sorry about the Pun) of boney Biatches!!!!
-

Almost always YOU are cheering up the rest of us. :tt2:Congrats  on reaching your GOAL, sorry to hear about your Job and computer issues... I freek when my computer is not working...or the LAP BAND SITE IS SLOWWW :cursing:

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
peaches9 replied to IndioGirl55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
[/center] When I make a protien shake, I add 1 Tbsp of Ground FLAX seed meal... also when I cook oatmeal, I use the Oldfashioned Large Flake Oats... they take 10 mins to cook, but are very high in fibre and protien. I make a big pot once or twice per week and then portion it out into 6 oz. containers, nuk it and add warm milk... very fast!! So here's all I put into it. 1 1/2 cups Oats, 3 1/4 cups Water, handful of Raisins, 2 Tbsp of Ground Flax seed, 2 Tbsp Sesame Seeds, 2 Tbsp of Chopped Walnuts... I bring this all to the boil and turn down to SIMMER for 10 mins. I put sugar free maple syrup on it and skim milk... YUM!!! Beleive me it'll solve your "Demon of the Lower Intestine" and lower your Cholesteral too. -
Have you got any pictures up on the Brag Page??? Candice

How Many Calories Do You Consume On An AVERAGE Day?
peaches9 replied to WASaBubbleButt's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Yes, the WL is great while you are on liquids. But please don't be discouraged when this slows down... and it will once you progress to solid food. Before your 6 wk checkup - fill... you'll be complaining about being in BANDSTER HELL... that's where your "old normal" appetite comes back but you have yet to find the restriction needed to eat only 800 - 1000 cals per day. I too didn't track cals for quite awhile, but I always tracked my protien - as I was concerned about hair loss and basic health. But now I find that I was cheating the band by eating JUNK, which goes down really easily even WHEN restricted... so I am back to writing what I BITE... and staying accountable... -
This web page drove me nuts yesterday.... Just as I was getting into multiposting....LOL... probably saved you all from a diatribe of nonsence Ha,ha.ha... Kira, 1/15 in the morning!! Wow that's determination! I tried several times yesterday to post as I had the day off and was staying Webbed up so that I could keep my hands busy!! Day #2 of recommittment... Exercise 25 mins. Cardio, cals 1009, Carbs 135 g, Fat 17 g, Pro 63 grams. Plus I emailed my daily totals to my Co-worker... for accountability! :hurt: oh the scale moved a titch this morning.. down 1.6#'s

Is your band failing you or are you failing your band ?
peaches9 replied to CoachCher's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Dear Cher; Thank you so much for sharing your story with us bandsters. I am 9 mos. post surgery and have had the complication of Band Leakage. During one or two of my fill procedures the TUBING got pierced instead of the Port. 3 wks ago I had a port/tubing replacement and am now re-starting my fill process... weight loss since banding? 10 lbs. No screaming success there, except that in 9 months I could have put 60 lbs on...if left to my old lifestyle... Thank you for giving me hope again. -
Linda, Your p/s sounds so exciting... when will you hear about approval? If you have the surg in June or beginning of July that'll allow 3 wks for recovery... You'll be o.k. for M of A won't you??? You can do a lot of healing in 3 wks. Ruby: Yes I found the site slow today as well... just as I got confident with this multiposting ha,ha,ha.... Candice
-
oh forget to brag... I made it today!!! I had a WHOLE day where I stuck to my food plan 1139 cals, 127 Carbs, 38g Fat & 72 g PROTIEN... I made a deal with a co-worker that we would be accountable to ea other daily... PLUS I have to Look HER IN THE FACE and tell her what I've eaten... No excersise today, but I'll remedy that tomorrow. Night, night Candice

Hi Phyl; hee,hee... now I will do this all the time... its so cool.. I don't have to rely on Memory for everyone's names, stories etc.... LOL :scared2: I certainly hope that M of Am. is still on.... I wanna go so bad and am really looking forward to it!!! I don't care what the gas will cost.

by jove I think I've got it..... thanks Janet.

Orillia, Huntsville, NorthBay, Owen SOund???
peaches9 replied to peaches9's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Marilyn; Welcome to bandland. My family doctor didn't want to be responsible for fills, not interested at all. I live 2 1/2 hours from clinic so I understand your not wanting to drive back and forth. But you do have the nice weather on your side! The thing about going to the clinic all the time for fills is this. Sometimes your port flips and only a nurse who deals with this full time would be able to find it and fill it. I also had a situation where my tubing got punctured. Not once but twice!!! and I had ALL my fills done at TLBC!! So I can't imagine if a G.P. was going in blind to do the fills... also once Dr. Yau agreed that I had a leek and was willing to fix it, the first thing they asked was "did you have ALL your fills done at the clinic"??? hummm, what would have happened if I had had someone else do those fills and then there was a problem? Would TLBC still do the re-surgery for free??? Surgury #1 was July07, re-surgery was done Mar 29th.08 I don't know. Just my 2 cents, but consider your options carefully.
