Beleive me, you are on your way... we all do Trial and Error.... even though we've been told to lay off the bread and pasta.. Last night I found that I now have to lay off of SPICY foods... my band swoll up so tight that I awoke in the middle of the night choking on my own spit... Gotta listen to the band... and play by the rules. One fill down and one more closer to your permanent weight loss -
I promise, I have had ONLY liquids all today... and I have consumed 680 cals... and 70 g protien...

Janet: No its not been bugging me... I was quite happy with my fill of last week the 1/4 cc.... put me to 7.25 in a 10 cc band... but yest. my DH and I went out afor dinner to Chinese buffet... I was good! I ate 3 chicken wings, veggies, 1 egg roll and 1/2 cup of Hot & Sour Soup... WELL... the Hot and Sour soup was REALLY Spicy! More than usual, and when I swollowed I noted that it was prickly on my band... now I wasn't stuck or anything... (ate at about 6 p.m) I go to bed 10 ish... I awoke 2 hours later choking on my own spit!! So I went and took a gaviscon and a sip of water, went back to bed... two hrs later... same thing... more choking, coughing... just couldn't swallow spit when I lyed down. So after flopping and flipping I got up and sat in my Lazy Boy recliner with a quilt to sleep sitting up... no luck there either... I was kind of frigtened too. Ssankofa: My fill was fine for the past 6 days, then this soup fiasco.. My Fill Nurse said to me today, when she De-filled my 1/4 cc... You are at your Sweet Spot ( I lost 2 lbs this wk) and that Spicy soup just irritated your BAND.. You have to stop eating spicy foods now that you have adequate restriction, as if the band is irritated it swells.... and in my case swoll shut... So, I must be more careful from now on. Another thing she told me (which I did not previously know) is that when you get a fill, you have to have Full Fluids the rest of the day... NO solid food at all. Also, the same rule applies if you have a day where you PB, once you've gotten stuck on something and PB'd, then NO MORE SOLIDS that day... go to Full Liquids only for at least 24 hours to let the band Settle down the swelling again thats created when you PB and produce excess Stomach Juices... Who'd a thunk... was I the only one that didn't know this?????

Well last night was no picnic I was awakened every 2-3 hours choking... on my own Spit!!! God it was frightening... So I called the clinic this a.m. and drove 2 1/2 hours for a de fill BRB

Hey Janet;; She's back!!!! Linda that is YEAH~~~ Way to go, you are looling hot, hot, hot I am going to sound like a broken record after Phyl's message... I was very depressed too when my Daughter left home for Europe, and then onto University. The first 2 weeks she was gone all I did was strip wallpaper and paint... I had the whole lower floor of our house redecorated by the time she got home from France. Then at University, she was only 50 km away and and sometimes would come home for weekends but it was still aweful! My only child and I had "empty nest syndrome"... like Phyl says... not pretty. I'd ask my husband, how come you are o.k.??? Don't you miss her??? Are you heartless and cold??? Dh (being the wise one) says to me. Look what did we plan on doing for the last 18 yrs? Raising a social invalid??? We did a good job if she is independant, smart, going to school, living on her own, working putting herself thru University... what more could you want??? He was right... we don't possess our children, we are stewards of them until they take their place in the world.. its "our" gift to future generations... Hugs Linda, I know it hurts:crying:

M of A I havn't heard anything from Linda, I still want to come but I can't drive the whole way by myself.. and the flights are horrendous $$$

You are saying goodbye to your Best Friend... but in truth you only thought FOOD was your friend.. You placed it on a pedistal to console you, numb you and provide company when you were lonely.. Guess what? You are gonna find NEW Best Friends.... all of us here on the Lapband talk board. Lots of us talk of the Computer as being our Cross-addiction...now I for one, can't stuff my face while I am typing... hee,hee... So welcome, post often, cry with us, laugh with us... there is nothing you can do or think that someone hasn't already done and experienced here. Best of luck, Candice -

Relax, you have not stretched your pouch... Its just that you are in "BANDSTER HELL" this is the time period after you've healed from the trauma of surg, your appetite is back and you don't have a FILL in yet. So therefore you don't have restriction... So my advise is to just track your food, eat healthy stuff. and don't freek if you don't lose weight during this period... most of us didn't until after several fills. -
So what is the final count for the Mall of America group??? Does anybody know?? I've PM'd Lindaa, but I havn't heard from her in a while...

Hello everyone, happy Saturday! Sun is shining here and the temp. is nice 24C still not as warm as our usual June weather, but then with Global warming... what's USUAL??? Oh I wish I was going to Las Vegas!~!! So exciting... I havn't been there in 10 years. I am sure its changed completly since then. My Mother (85) is scheduled for her Angiogram on Wednesday, so any Prayers for her healthy outcome are appreciated!! My Sister is going to come with me to attend and support Mom... I think she is a wee bit scared. Poor thing, I just want her to have better quality of life and be able to breath better, and hopefully without an oxygen tank. Food wise, I've been tracking all week, and doing well... Had a couple alcoholic drinks yest. so my total was 1600, but I tracked it  and I did get some walking in too. Have a great weekend everyone!!!

Hi Zena; I too was banded at TLBC by Dr. Yau... I whole heartedly recommend him too. He is an awesome surgeon. I had my 1st done in July 07, the op was uneventful... very little pain (took tyl for a couple days) I was out walking around the block the same night, and hiking the next day for excersise... I heal very well and perhaps I have a high pain tolerance or just lucky.. No nausea at all, they give you a really good anesthetic & meds. Scars are SO minimal... and fade. Now I did have a complication. During a fill in the fall the RN punctured my tubing in two places... this resulted in a LEAK of band Fluid and loss of restriction. Needless to say, I didn't loose toomuch weight in the first 7 mos. until my Port/tubing was fixed (free of charge) in Mar 08. The second surg was as uneventful as the first... and now I am getting fills again and on my way weightloss wise. Just like any surg. proceedure there are no 100% perfect results. I was one of the unlucky's but I am still Glad that I went for the band... It was and is still the best decision for ME... p.s. fills don't hurt either, the tiniest of needles is used.

O.k. Goodmorning everyone.... I hope you are all awake, as I am NOT... I went to a staff mtg last night 7:30 - 10pm and when I got home my MIND would just not shut off... I watched news, Larry King, And Cooper360 TWICE!!! still couldn't numb myself down enough to sleep... My Boss is thinking of offering Isagenix weight loss prog in our clinic. I am just NOT an advocate for this system... they are gimics pure and simple... I know this from all of the other diet gimmicks that have been around - cause I've tried them ALL>>>> that's why I ended up paying $16k for my Lap band... to be done with all that crap. I am just now getting to the point where I can start losing the rest of my weight... but I want it to be by eating REAL food, just a whole hell of a lot less of it.... plus keep the cravings at bay. Oh my DH made REAL coffee this a.m. -yum!~~ I even had real (low fat ) cream in it for a treat (counted the cals LOL) My band is definetly tighter, I have to drink my coffee slowly, and work up to my oats! Yest was a another good food choice day!!! Yeah Sory for being so verbose this morning,,, just a Sh1t load on my mind... Give me your thoughts on the Clinic issue

Oh Kari, I am so happy for you!!!! Big sigh of relief here.... P.s. I enjoy your jokes and emails... keep em coming eh? Candice

Well I got another fill today, and it is definetly tighter... she only gave me a 1/4 of a cc.... that's all I wanted, as last time it was a 1/2 cc and I didnt' want to get anything stuck. I can always go back in 2 wks for another 1/4 cc if I think I need it ...( I am a 10 cc bander) Currently at 7.25 cc's in total. I had lost a titch of weight since I was there last so she was pleased but I was not... Time to get this scale into the 170'sss... M of A is now my new goal ``` 5 wks from now I am going to be down 10 lbs by then...
-

Hi Janet, I figure that the little white one is a poodle but I can't figure out what breed the Black on is??? Help me out... How on earth did you get them to pose? My two doggies are never still.. Jack Russell Terriers so they are crazy!!! I'll try and find a pic for you... I am sitting here "dying' my hair, and timing it... don't go to work until 1 p.m. and the grey roots were getting just too hard to hide any longer...

That is a super shot, and I too was wondering about your 'lack' of a turkey neck... cause mine is obvious too Phyl, and I still have 40 + lbs to go!!! EEKS... what will I look like then? Hopefully, I'll look just like Janet... beautiful! I am going to Toronto tomorrow for another tiny fill, I am not losing steadily, just kinda hanging in the low 180's... its become my nemisis!! I just want to be in the 170's so badly and break out of this slump... WIsh me luck ladies.
