Great News!!! My Daughter got engaged today!!! Bryan got down on his knee, took my daughters hand in his and asked her to marry him... right there in front of DH and I... Well my DH had tears in his eyes before I did... it turns out the DSIL2B "asked" for my daughters hand in marrage a month ago!!! My hubby has kept this all a secret from me until today. Surprisingly, I was able to hold to my food plan, with one exeption... some Bailey's in my Morning coffee to celebrate and toast the happy couple. So here are my food totals for today. No exercise. CALORIESCARBSFATPROTEIN Cal1,114, Carbs111,34,PRO. 78 I am so over the moon tonight!~! We just love SIL2B so very much, we've been keeping our fingers crossed for a couple of years. ANd today it came to be. So cool! I was a good MIL2B and did not ask "so when ARE you going to get married, and when should I start shopping for the MOTB dress?" y'all will be so proud of me that I kept a SOCK in it for once. I didn't want to blow the day by being nosey  O.k. now I have that news off my chest I must go back and re-read everyone elses news of the DAY.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Fantastic, congrats on the 60# mark. That is a wonderful feeling, but not as good as you are going to feel hitting that 70# er which is right around the corner for you!!! I am nibbling on 1'2 can of Tuna mixed with 1/4 c of Hummus right now (my breakfast) I am trying to do something different & it tastes pretty good... instead of the mayo which has more fat. ALso, I wanted to mention for those "NIGHT TIME" eaters out there. I've been freezing cubed Mango and Green Grapes, measuring out 1 cup and eating them in front of the T.V. its sweet, and takes a LONG time to nibble thru... Also, A small spinach salad with a Sweet tasting LF dressing like Poppy Seed. Has been great at night, deals with my crunching and sweet addiction at the same time. -
Ha,ha,ha... that Earl!! Of course WE credit him!! How else could we all have survived shopping with all those parcels??? He followed us, cajolled us, babysat our extra bundles so our hands (and Feet) would be free for more buying.... Ya know, if he could he probably would have offered up his ears for peircing too!!! :tt2:

:drool:Stephanie: Yesterdays was... Cals = 701, Carbs = 45g, 89 g protien This is FRIDAY's # o.k,. here it is more clear. CALORIES/CARBS/FAT/PROTEIN933,70,32,94 hee, hee, hee:rolleyes: didn't mean to confuse anyone. I was just clicking and pasting from my SPARKPEOPLE.com site where I track my food. Ruby: You are doing great, and I'd say you MAY eat more cals but not that you SHOULD... are you still hungry? or were you satisfied? Now I didnt' get any exercise today, my hours were brutal, but I did get a nice FAT paycheck, so I am happy

You are too funny Janet; I DO MEAN you are my friend!!! :smile2: I was just thnking about you last night when I was watching Sarah Palin talking... I was remembering our debate over the elections with Rose/Stephanie You and Me that night by the Sprinklers. Gee that was fun!!! And I really feel that this election has now pulled out the claws, especially after last nights broadcast. I had been hopefull that both gentlemen were going to keep this race on an elevated keel... guess not?:tt2: My DH and I got into a "heated debate" last night too. He can't figure out for the life of him why I am so interested in American Politics. dah!!! I watch Canadian Politics with furver too... I just like to know whats going on in the world and who/what will be shaping our future(s) To think that what happens in the US will not affect us here in Canada (and the rest of the world for that matter) is just like keeping your head stuck in the sand. It's a small, small world and we're all in this together:blink:

How the Lap-Band actually works, fills and refills
peaches9 replied to Wendell Edwards's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I sometimes too have this pulsing feeling, but it is usally when I am FULL, and oh ya know just tried to have 'one more bite'... it's your body telling you to QUIT it!! If I ignore it and continue then I'll have a PB and pain... :tt2: What my clinic suggests is that you take liquids for the ENTIRE day of your fill. Then the next morning take it slow with Warm oatmeal, or scrambled eggs. (soft foods) and always remember to take TINY bites and chew well... then you can have a reg lunch and supper. Hope this info helps. -
Hopefully this picture shows up, it all of us Lucky 7 in July 0 8 there, now don't we look like a warm and friendly bunch?? Hey, where is Linda?
-
And welcome to the Lucky 7s thread. You already know the answer to the question above. If these folks are NOT inspiring you then Dump-um... This is the most important journey of your life, and you need to surround yourself with [[positive]] encouragement from others who are meeting the same challenges. None of here are perfect bandsters, or know everything in the whole world, but I DO promise you that we will answer your questions, give you our honest opinion and give you a shoulder to cry on too. Thru this past year, I have come to feel closer to these gals than most of my "real" friends. As much as my family and friends love me, they cannot KNOW how being banded in life feels. They just don't get it. Now they are all very pleased to see that I am losing weight and becoming healthier, but they are outsiders. Best of luck to you and send along a picture so we can see what you look like :tt2:

Ruby: You go gilr, counting your carbs, cals, protein grams etc.. We gotta help each other here!!! Right? My nutritionist suggests that I eat PROTIEN at every meal, and get at least 60 g in a day minimum... I don't know what others feel like on this, but I am also limiting my carbs right now to Veggies only and small amount of fruit. I know there are also carbs in Skim Milk but I count that for my calcuim sources so I won't cut down on that...:tt2: don't want brittle bones in my old age eh?:tt2: So lets keep accountable together here online, is that o.k. with you??? Candice:cool2:

CALORIESCARBSFATPROTEIN701451892 O.k. that's it so far for today's meals. Now I am entering my Bewitching hours of 7 - 10p.m.,,, but I am only allowing myself SALAD and or frozen Grapes. Feeling good!!!
-
You are so right Phyl, Summer is over... now its time to SURRENDER to the LAP BAND and let it do its majic!!! I've have 2 good "in control" days and I am breathing more peacefully... I was really wanting to STOP the monsters but nothing was working. I was really glad I made the effort and committment to drive to my WL clinic yesterday. She made me feel like I am NOT such a failure. I only have a problem 3 out of 24 hours in the day. I can conquer anything for 3 measly hours right??? You bet!!! now I gotta go back and read...:crying:
-
See this Dark Haired beauty on the SLIMBAND ad? well thats my FILL nurse in Toronto Canada. I went for a 1/4CC fill yesterday, and also a consult appt with Jill the Nutricianist. I am going back on the Pre-op diet for a week or two then I am going back to T.O. for a weight-in. This way I will be accountable. I've had a sloppy summer food wise, no gain, but no losses either... I just beat myself up thinking about all that money that I have wastd! Well, no more. I really only go "out of control" from 7 - 10 p.m. Well as Jill pointed out that only 3 hrs out of 24!!! dah... not so much of a change needs to be made to get back on track. Develop different strategies for coping during those 3 hours.... Eat a bag of salad with Bals. vin dress, eat some frozen fruit(slowly and chew) I am going to track all my meals and then SHOW them to HER on my weight in day. If I can just tame the sugar monster the rest will follow!! Now I have to go back and re-read pages 748 and forward... Hugs to all

milkshakes and soup today... that's it so far... I really need to get back on track!! -
 O.k. brilliant idea #1, for the rides. Take 1/2 a gravol tablet. Just enought to fight the nausea, but not so much that you fall asleep! Also, keep telling yourself that you LOVE rides. and your stomach is strong!!! Keep with the positive thoughts of the day and you'll not get motion sickness. Also there is an acupressure point on the inside of your wrist you can press. measure 3 fingers up from the crease of your palm/wrist and press firmly with your thumb, hold for 2 -3 minutes... it will settle your tummy...

Two Eskimos sitting in a kayak Were chilly, so they lit a fire In the craft. Unsurprisingly it sank, Proving once again That you can't have your kayak And heat it too.

Dear Denise: I am hoping you Don't read this and are alreadyon the road to safety.. Janet: Thanks somuch for the nice card, I loved it!!! ANd ya know I don't feel too bad for an old broad!!! Phyl: HOw are your Ear peircings??? Did you buy any new earrings yet? I let my holes close over  they were bugging me while I slept at night... poking into my head if I rolled over on my side.. Just not meant to be I guess. Stephanie: Oh I wish I was as tight as you are!!! 850 cals would be awesome. I think that after this birthday I will drive to To. for another fill. I had my last tweek in June before our M of A trip and I've been up and down the same 2 lbs all summer.. so its time to GET REAL... and loose the rest of my weight this year. Linda: Must be still missing in action, back to school, weddiings, births oh my what a busy life... So far today I've only eaten 2 slices Thin Rye toast with butter, and a protien bar. But I am going out to see my MOM and take my Birthday dinner in to her... should be a nice way to spend the evening. Have a Great Labor Day long weekend everyone~!

It is nice though that your Hubby and Son are working at this task together. It is so unfortunate that people lurk about waiting to take their opportunity with YOUR stuff. Stay safe & be well.. ((HUGS))) Candice

I am so sorry to hear you are that NEAR the bad weather forecasts. I'll keep you and your family in my prayers. My DB lives in Florida and he's been hiding out in his closet, away from all flying glass/water. Keep us posted if you are near a computer. (((hugs))) Candice

I wish I could come to YOUR house for dinner tonight, it sounds devine!! Scallops, I'm with Janet on this one l..... just sautee them in in evoo and freshly pressed garlic... they will only take 5 mins. or so... really. Now Steaks, I like to marinade in Soy sauce, worcheshter sauce, garlic, onion powder and a titch of honey.... or saulsa... then BBQ. Some folks like tartar sauce for their Salmon burgers, me I just like mayo.... also rosemary is very good with garlic on salmon too. I am not a LEMON/FISH fan. Don't sweat it, it sounds like you'll have a fine time. and beside YOU"LL be there, much more important than the food:wub:

It is a process that requires patience. Your Doctor should have counseled you on how long it would take to find "YOUR" level of restriction. Sometimes it takes several months, this is not uncommon. ALso bandsters do not lose the majority of their weight in the first 6 mos. like gastric bypass people. We lose mostly after we have acheived a sufficient level of restriction and THEN we start losing consistently. You also didn't mention how much exercise you are doing if any?

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
peaches9 replied to IndioGirl55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have never heard anyone having a Port Site infection? BUt I have heard of several other complications (although they are RARE) 1) Port can flip, in position under the skin making it hard to do fills... sometimes requires re-surgery to correct its placement. 2) My port tubing was PUNCTURED by the fill nurse, so all my fill was leaking out... and I was not holding restriction. So I needed to have my surgery done again, and they replaced the tubing up to the port. -
You and Earl are too funny. Isn't it rich that after all those years together little things just put us over the edge? My DH cooks "HIS" own breaky everyday. Same thing, fried eggs... he always drips egg between the shell and the frying pan, usually down the side of the stove or under the burner.... he just leaves it!!! Drives me nuts, as then I have to take the whole top rack off and clean (we have a gas range) He likes to "hover" while I am making dinner, usually its because he is overly hungry and wants to stir something... LENTIL soup, sounds so good, that has become one of my favorites. Give EARL a hug from me!!!

CALORIESCARBSFATPROTEIN1,790 I know I posted earlier in the evening my cals for the day, but I continued to snack. So in an effort to at least be accountable here is my official total for Thursday. ARGH!

peaches9 replied to IndioGirl55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My surgery was also not bad pain wise. The procedure was 45 minutes, recovery room 2 hours then 2 hour drive home(I slept) once I got home I took some Tordol Pain med and slept another 3 hours. The next day I rested, the day after I was hiking again = I felt great!! Took only tylenol after that...Gas pains was really the only thing. but walking helped get rid of that... The 5 wk post op diet restrictions were far worse than the surgery itself... LIquids, then full liq, then mushies... yuk... -
1400 cals today, I was honest TRACKED everything!!! ARGH,,, I want something sweet right now though... going mad. I got on the computer jsut to keep my hands busy.... havn't got any junik in the house (GOOD) but I had 2 calcium chews thinking that may stave off my sweet desire... its not working Hey, LINDA IS A GRAND MA!!!! Baby Girl, I saw the pictures and she's just too sweet (hummm, maybe I should suck on her big toe?) CONGRATULATION GRAMMA!!
