Candice`s way to make HUMMUS In a food processor combine one can 19 oz of Chickpeas, drained and rinsed(they have a lot of salt on them) 2-3 cloves of MINCED Garlic, or Pressed Garlic (YUMMY) 1 TBSP good quality Olive Oil 1-2 Tbspn of LEMON Juice (fresh or bottled) 1 Tbspn of Tahini paste ( It comes in a jar, keeps forever, made from ground sesame seeds) 1 tbsp fresh parsley 1 tsp. Worchestershire bottled sauce Now if this mixture is too thick, then add some more lemon juice or some more Oil, (but count the calores) NOW, the most amazing part about Hummus is you can make VARIATIONS of the above by adding one of the following: 1) Saute some chopped onions in a little EVOO until they carmalize. 2) Roast some REd BELL PEPPERS in the oven then add to chickpea combo 3) Sauteed Pine Nuts 4) Chipolte Peppers (Roast them first too, brings out thew flavour) 5) and last but not least some roasted Jalapeno peppers, if you like HEAT!!!! -

Currently, no I do not attend meetings... I used to go several times per week back in 1980-90`s but I lapsed, regained my weight and then some LOL Judy on this thread and I are keeping in touch with each other by email...kinda having mini meetings... but if you are interested... we could do a Skype OA meeting if you are interested... Something to think about... As I have in my possession the BIG BOOK of AA, OA book For Today, plus many others including a step study workbook. Candice

Regarding the Healthcare issue... has anyone gone out and rented the Documentary Film called S I C K O , by Michael Moore??? Please, view it... there are some good points raised and it is informative. I'd love to hear your comments after you've viewed it.

Hey Girlfriend, don't stress... we all have SLIPS, and that is all it was. A temporary glitch. As your name suggests ONE DAY AT A TIME... do you know the serenity prayer ? It really helps me stay in the moment. Also I have a daily meditation book that is great... I'll share todays with you.. ( I need to focus on it too) MAY 19th....FOR TODAY How unhappy is she who cannot forgive herself -Publilius Syrus Why didn't I? ....How could I?......What is it with Me?..... The tendency to hang onto self-condemnation persists with a will of its own. It goes beyond healthy self-criticism, branding judgements deep into the core of my being. Where did I get the notion that I am to be without flaws, make no mistakes? The OA Program tells me that wrongdoings of the past, both real and imagined, need to be recalled, looked at and disposed of through the directions given in the 12 steps four thru nine. Is it these all-but-forgotten thoughts and actions that keep me wallowing in guilt, (shame) which in turn keeps me from facing and resolving my real problems of today? For today: Forgiveness of myself is one of the first rewards of working the 12 step program. now I just put this out there for consideration, I do not mean to tell anyone that they need to go to a meeting or join OA... this is just literature that I thought might help:wub:

ROTFLMAO! Thanks Cleo`s Mom. The reason I weighed in on this debate is because I LOVE AMERICANS!! 1) My Brother is American (and Yup he even voted!) and he is a republican ( I still love him in spite of that) 2) I have MANY Dear friends who are Americans, and I have their best interests at heart. 3) I beleive you FINALLY have a President that will do a good job (so does the rest of the Global community) 4) Pres. Obama WON THE ELECTION, I thought you Americans always got behind your President and SUPPORTED his democratically chosen MAJORITY RULES views

Be patient. You aren`ét even 2 months out yet. You havn`t had enough FILLS yet girl!! Once you are filled to your sweet spot... You will ONLY be able to eat 1 1/2 cups of food per meal... thats ONE cup and a HALF... less than that, no wonder you are getting hungry between meals. Track your calories too for a bit, see where you are spending them... a good FREE web site is www.SparkPeople.com I``ve been using this site for years and its fab!!! Good luck to you honey:smile2: -

LOL if my vote counts, go steal the car!!! Had a super day today. Met up with my BFF Dar we went into town for our mutual BOtox sessions. I got my crows feet on the side of my eyes done, my BFF had her eyes done as well as between her eyebrows... we are hooked... much more fun than going to the casino!!! Also went to COSTCO to buy Pro. Bars, ya right!! $160 later.... But I treated myself today for staying on FOOD PLAN.... I bought myself to summer tops- one in Royal Blue the other Aqua.. I think they`ll look nice. ALso, I figure for every week I stick to my food plan, I am going to Walmart or whereever and buy myself a top or shorts or whatever... just to give myself CREDIT!!! Came home and had raw veggies and dip... I made my own dip out of a can of BABY CLAMS, Lite Cream Cheese, onion, garlic, worchestershire sauce... OMG was it ever good and it has PROTIEN !! Now this is huge, I ate raw veg yesterday, today for lunch I had a Salad wéchicken breast on it (ate 1/2 and brought home the rest for DH), then for dinner tonight VEGGIES and dip.... yeah me!!! 900 cals so far for today... Ill have my planned snack later. Stephanie, how did your Kettle Corn sale go??? -
Here's how your government will come up with the MONEY to spend on Univeral Health Care Plan. -Phasing out the expensive F-22 war plane and other outdated weapons systems, which weren't even used or needed in Iraq/Afghanistan -Beginning the withdrawal of US troops from Iraq -The prison at Guantanamo Bay is being phased out -The secret detention facilities in Eastern Europe and elsewhere are being closed -The missile defense program is being cut by $1.4 billion in 2010 -Closed offshore tax safe havens -Negotiated deal with Swiss banks to permit US government to gain access to records of tax evaders and criminals ( so rich people and corporations will HAVE to pay their fair share of TAXES) -Lower drug costs for seniors (thereby saving Tax Dollars in Medicare system, wastage now.) -Ended previous policy of awarding no-bid defense contracts (healthy competition will render lower prices, therefore tax savings) -Limited salaries of senior White House aides; cut to $100,000 I only wish I had the $$ values of all of the ABOVE tax savings... surely now PG you can see how it can be affordable to revamp your Healtcare system... It is doable!! If all the other G8 countries can offer and afford Universal Health care(and the other countries economies are Smaller than the U.S.) you can too. It just takes effort, smarts, and a WILL to help the 50 million American people who currently do not have healthcare! OBAMA is on the right track.

I think it would be wise for us all to àccept each others spirituality without contest. THe debate is over Universal Healthcare and whether Obamas administration is on track with that. Lets not attack each other personaly, that can get petty pretty quickly.,

You are so welcome!!! Now I challenge you all to watch SICKO see if it dosn`t answer some of your questions about Health Care in other countries... its surprising. Just keep an open mind.

I feel that I am somewhat qualified to speak to this RED point above, because I am a tax paying Canadian who(for all of my life) has had Universal Healthcare. What you hear is gibberish from Right wingers on the Fox news channel... they tell you only snippits of our healthcare system. The snippets that serve the REPUBLICAN purpose only. Here are some facts, Canadians pay slightly more in taxes than you do. WE have a high standard of living, own our own homes ( and we pay off our mortgages too) and none of us has to declare bankrupcy to pay our HOSPITAL bills if one of our kids gets cancer. It dosent matter where you work you have government paid for health care. I can pick my own family doctor and go to any hospital I choose. Also, if you are over 65 you get your prescriptions for free. If you are poor(on welfare) or disability you get your drugs for free provided they are deemed necessary by your family doctor. THere is an employer health tax levied which partly covers the health costs, the rest c omes from funding provided by LOTTERY ( a voluntary tax by all accounts) and from Income TAXES. A good source of information, and well researched is a film made by your Michael Moore entitled SICKO... It is great and is well worth viewing for both camps... rent it at your local Blockbuster.
