Slimband formerly TLBC Clinic Toronto On

Hi there; I was banded by TLBC (now Slimband) allmost 3 yrs ago. Prices of $4200 and $5200 are the clinics in Mexico, that offer the surgerys. I personally know many ladies that have gone to Mexico for their surgery and all went well. Problem is AFTERCARE, who is going to do your Fills for you in Canada??? CIBO, SWLC, Slimband will NOT do fills for NON patients... so make sure you check out all options. With the SLEEVE, you'll need no fills after surgery, but you may want to stay in contact with your surgeon for questions and concerns.. Do you live in Toronto? or close by? There is now Lapband offered in Barrie, Ontario from Lakeview Surgery, I visited there and its nice, surgeon very approchable.. Liked them. you can pm me with questions too if they are of a more private nature.

Karla; great job on finishing that Masters assignment.. and the dog walk. WOW that was a big one, you must have seen the whole town.!!! PHyl: sorry you in a funk, it happens to us all at times... but you are doing the right things and looking after your health. Getting your exercise goes a long way to lifting a mood. I didnt`really think you ate a lot??? Puzzled at that one, cause I saw you eating for 3 days... and you ate less than me. Maybe our metabolism is FLICKed up from so many years of dieting. Try the journaling, eat 800 one day, 1000 the next, 950, 875, then 1200 and see if that dosn`t shake off a few... trick your body into losing again. Janet: hugs on the funeral, I agree with Phyl. there needs to be a `coming together`of family and friends. It is psychologically necessary IMHO CAUTION: Funny story to follow.... Well you know that when I was at my AUnt & Uncles I would slip out for a few hours, go over to the starbucks and do my email.... while there I thought ah-ha... I`ll buy my Uncle (diabetic) a bottle of their sugar free syrups... Ummmwhat flavor??? So I got Hazelnut... got home and showed my Uncle how the SF Syrup would make his coffee taste just as yummy without putting his sugars up to 17!!!! (they are supposed to be under 8, Cdn measurements) so He says O.k. I`ll try it... OH my, he dosn`t like Hazelnut, it reminds him of the Liquour Frangelico!!!! OMG (regroup)< So next morning I say, hey Uncle I have to go over to Starbucks to do my mail, pick up some tinfoil yada,yada...he says ``well I have to go to the bank, so I`ll come with yA` Get to starbucks and I ordered 2 skinny lattes, vanilla... he wants a LARGE, and I get a SMALL... I go to pull out my wallet to pay. He says ``ÒH no, its my treat, you``ve been so good to me and Aunt``.. I said, Uh Uncle I`ll pay, cause when y ou see how much$$ it will be you are gonna have a stroke!`` He insists... the bill is $9.34 and he hands her a $10... she gives him back change... now rememer my Uncle is profoundly DEAF... He yells at the barista, Hey what are you trying to pull, I gave you a $10!!!! we sit down.... Now drinking this DELUX coffee, he is gripping, grumbling etc... I say BUT do you like it Uncle???? Oh yah, I guess so... but its too damn hot!!!! ( its coffee!) Then in his very big OUTSIDE voice he says, `do me a favor, when we get home check my drawers., cause I think I shit myself`!!!! Then we continue our trip, going next to the bank... he has to go in c ause he`` dosn`t trust those damn Money grabbing Machine things` Oh my gosh these old folks are so funny... this is my Mom`s Brother... and teh genetic link is very strong... I just kept laughing... I get home and am retelling these stories to my DH and he says to me...... get ready..... STOP YELLING, I`m right here beside you, I can hear just fine!!! I realized then that I had been talking for the past 3 days in a VERY LOUD voice... Aunt is deaf in one ear, but he is in both... Has hearing aids and just REFUSES to wear them...they sit collecting dust on his nighttable.. he just thinks it is no problem, and can`t understand why everyone else in the world just can`t Speak UP! Please tell me we are not all going to end up like this!!! - there were many other instances to chuckle about but I`ll save the rest for Seattle... and a few glasses of wine! Glad to be home:lol: oh and stuck to my food plan and am now down 5 lbs.... yeah!!

CALORIES;CARBS;FAT;PROTEIN1,007;98;36;44 I`ve been away for a couple of days... nursing my Uncle and Aunt back to health...hee,hee... Really just put up a few meals for them in the freezer so that they could rest and recouperate from the hospital stay. I said my serenity prayer many times over the last couple days, and it did help. PLUS, my Uncle is diabetic and is not watching what he eats very well.... so I was trying to do some nutrician education with him... this really kept me on the straight and narrow, as I felt I had to be an good example.... Take care and have a great WEDNESDAY Candice

Melissa: I agree with the other ladies, take a day to de=stress... Read some OA lit. go to another meeting, read the BEck BOOK... do whatever it takes... Put YOURSELF and YOUR health in a No.1 position. If you have a problem at work and eat over it, you`ll only have 2 problems instead of ONE... Remember the slogans of OA... think, Think, THINK One Day at a time Easy Does It H.A.L.T. ( Am I Hungry, Angry, Lonely or Tired?) I ask myself this when I am tempted to eat something not on plan.. Go into the Bathroom and say the Serenity Prayer: `` God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the Wisdom to know the difference. THY will be done`` What IS your food plan? How do YOU define it? Is it something that you can LIVE with Just for Today?? Abstinence (sobriety) can start right now, this second, this minute, this MEAL... Really, the hardest part for me getting started is JUST MAKING THE DECISION.... the rest falls into place. HUGS, Sweetie:wub: remember that all of the above suggestions all reduce STRESS

Excerpt froom note to phyl::: I am in Sarnia right now looking after my Aunt and Uncle. She just got out of the hospital with a BLocked Bowel. The obstruction is to be removed surgically, as soon as she is strong enough to withstand the proceedure. Hence I came down to make ahead freezer meals for them... they are sweet. But as they get older, they are lacking in meal imagianation and tire of the preparations so they have been NOT eating (him the diabetic) and her EATING Too much and »Junk..... ( oh can you say take a look in the mirror Candice?) Anyways, they are appreciating my `new food``, never cooked it THAT way before``.... they are a hoot.. thank Goodness they both still have a sense of humour!! Hugs, Candice Karla; with regard to the Health Ins. buy whtever plan gets you your SURGERY with the least deductable... Your girls can start looking after themselves..... this may sound harsh (LOVE) but GF you need to start putting yourself FIRST... Janet: I``d love to have the opportunity to PLANT palms... I just love them, alas I`d just be sentencing them to a cruel and unusual death!!! :tongue2: LInda: Do all your cuddling, you lucky, lucky girl... we want PICTURES Doll.. Sure, and I pour him a coffee... he takes it black.... good! Then he asks my AUNT to give him his treat.... wait for it.... BAILEYS IN HIS COFFEE!!!! OMgosh»!!! I just about lost it... MY Uncle is diabetic, depressed and not eating.. my Aunt has been so worried about him that she got a Bowel Blockage and had to be rushed to ER. Shes out now but very weak and not really up to dealing with him... I am going to go and do some FREEZER cooking for them, get a bunch of healthy meals planned for them and then they can just eat out of the freezer for a while until she is stronger.. I can do all the groc shopping, and get the house cleaned for them... just kinda help out for a couple days. They are the Sweetest couple, but they are bickering with ea other right now cause neither feels well... so sad. I am going to take my laptop and visit a starbucks once a day to try and keep caught up and enter in my food JOURNAL... I am doing well so don`t want to screw that up. BUT my Uncle is dibetic, so I`ll be in good NON Suger eating company LOL:biggrin:

Happy Queen Victoria Day Weekend!! For all you Canadian Lurkers, *(aka May 24 weekend, ah we pack our beer in a case of 24 hee, hee) and Happy Memorial Day for all you Yanks!!!.. First LONG weekend of the summer. .. and theres already been fireworks in my neighbors backyard last night... but it didnt' keep me awake... ANd Thankfully it dosn't upset the dogs! a bit of the history.... Background Queen Victoria was born on May 24, 1819. Following the death of three uncles and her father, she became Queen of the United Kingdom on June 20, 1837 and reigned until her death on January 22, 1901. Victoria is still the longest-reigning monarch of the United Kingdom. During Victoria's life, the British Empire expanded considerably. However, her powers as Queen of the United Kingdom were reduced as the House of Commons became more important and powerful in British politics. The monarch's birthday has been celebrated in Canada since before the beginning of Queen Victoria's reign. After her death, in 1901, May 25 became known as Empire Day. The sovereign's official birthday was still celebrated, often on the King's or Queen's actual birthday. In 1952, Empire Day was moved to the Monday before May 25 and since 1953, the official birthday of Queen Elizabeth II has been celebrated on this date in Canada. In 1958, Empire Day became known as Commonwealth Day, which was moved to the second Monday in March. The Monday before May 25 then became known as Victoria Day, which is a Canadian statutory holiday.

Defeat is a school in which truth always grows str0ng. -Henry Ward Beecher Never in all my years of fighting it did I think I would admit to being defeated by food. When the illusion that I could eat like other people was finally routed, many other truths began to emerge. That was the beginning of recovery. EACH DAY I practice the program of recovery, more truth about myself is revealed to me. I welcome all of it, the worst as well as the best. Only when I know who I am can I make use of the directions that tell me how I can change. For today: Any person or incident that shows me a truth about myself is of benefit to me. Today, was a good day... I went to a retirement lunch for a dear friend. He served in the Canadian Armed Forces for 38 years! It was awesome to honour him with presentations and luncheon. Now speaking selfishly, I did VERY well at the lunch. I looked around me and looked at what was on everyone else`s plates. It was a BUFFET type resteraunt... all you can eat... Now in my prelapband days I would have said YEA-HAW... all the food I can eat!!!! Well, with the band I have some control. I ate: Breaky: 1/2 protien bar Lunch: Green tea, peel and eat shrimp (4), fried shrimp (3), Teriaki chicken 2 oz. , 1 pc of Sushi, 1/2 roll w/Butter, and a small pc. of SUGAR FREE CHeesecake. Dinner: 8 crackers, 25 g of Cheese, raw veggies & dip of ff Cream cheese. so all in all a very good day... It also reminded me of WHAT i would have eaten pre-band... Buffets`s just don`t hold the magnatism for me any longer ......

Aw Janet, you sound low... I know you go to a lot of other sites and it does take time! What fun would THAT be.... we gotta put our heads together and figure out something.... Had another chat with my NEW boss today... really went well.. I will be job sharring with the other Laser Tech... and we'll cover off ea others holidays and sick days... so I can still have my Vacations when I want as long as LASER is covered... cool:rolleyes: CBL super is ready

Karla, thanks for the support... I am feeling good, and in control.. Its amazing how much SHAME I was carrying around with regards to my food choices and HOW i was eating them... For Today, things are good... Peter is out raking leaves out of my gardens for me.. then later I have to go out and start digging... It'll be an all weekend chore( ahem, activity!) and will feel good once I get started... Inertia is my biggest enemy. Yest. food tally was a bit higher than I'd like, but I am inching my way back to 1000 cals per day... Phyl;, Honey, just go get the dog... tell him YOU'LL keep it in YOUR half of the CONDO!!! You have rights too LOL And if its a non shedding breed, you won't even be responsible for vaccumming HIS side of the condo!! HA HA HA:tt2: Besides, I KNOW he will just MELT once the pup is there... Peter did remember? I just brought Bridget home and plopped her in his lap.... and the rest is history 15 Years is what you can expect to get out of a small dog. So its a great motivator to stay active and healthy... for the DOG.. but YOU get the added benefits too. What Earl is probably worrying about is costs..and they are nothing to minimize... pets are expensive, Dogs more so than cats. OOOOH what about your CANDY??? would she tolerate an intruder??? get pictures of that:crying: Janet, Exercise, no I havn't been doing anything special yet.. I will get there, hate the sagging stuff and it has to be dealt with.. but this first week I really needed to focus on my SOBRIETY from CHOCOLATE AND SUGARY PRODUCTS. but feel free to bug me next week about it.. I wont have any good reason for NOT doing it.. Love you guys, you are the best...and I mean the lurkers too...Steph, Linda, Denise, Car, Karri and Kari alrignt , we need some more particicpation Linda, weren't you goning to join me on the quest?

No of course they won't (thats too bad) but Look at all the HOME WORK people on this thread are doing??? This is awesome! some REAL facts (the ones backed up by referances) are being exposed... Only when both viewpoints are listened to, challenged and absorbed can one make an intellegent decision on whether or not Healthcare reform is necessary. (as I beleive it is)

Don`t be silly, you have to at least VIEW it with an open mind, before you trash something.... Or... are you incapable of looking at an Issue from BOTH sides before rendering an opinion? or just plain lazy?
