Weight Watcher recipes: Edamame Hummus Makes 10 servings POINTS® value | 2 per serving Ingredients 4 medium scallions, thinly sliced 1 garlic clove, quartered 3 cups shelled cooked edamame 1/4 cup reduced-sodium soy sauce 1/4 cup rice vinegar 2 Tbsp mirin or sweetened Japanese cooking wine 1 Tbsp tahini 1 tsp wasabi powder 1 Tbsp toasted sesame oil Instructions Place all ingredients in a food processor fitted with the chopping blade; pulse a few times, scrape down the sides of the bowl, and process until smooth. To store, scrape into a medium bowl, cover, and refrigerate for up to 4 days; return to room temperature before serving. Serving size: 1/4 cup. About the Creamy Corn Chipotle Dip For a really fresh taste in this smoky spicy dip, cut the kernels off husked ears of corn. To do so, cut one end off the ear, stand it up on your cutting board, grasp the pointy end, and run a sharp knife along the cob, slicing off the kernels. Or just thaw out a 1-pound frozen bag of corn. Creamy Corn Chipotle Dip Makes 12 servings POINTS® value | 1 per serving Ingredients 4 oz fat-free cream cheese 2 canned chipotles in adobo sauce, seeded 3 cups corn kernels 2 Tbsp lime juice 1 1/2 tsp ground cumin 1/2 tsp salt Instructions Place all ingredients in a food processor fitted with the chopping blade; pulse a few times, scrape down the sides of the bowl, and process until smooth. To store, spoon into a medium bowl, cover, and refrigerate for up to 3 days; return to room temperature before serving. Serving size: 3 tablespoons. About the Artichoke Pesto Perfect for celery ribs or rice crackers, this summer favourite is made even more flavourful with a few canned artichoke hearts. Toast the pine nuts in a dry skillet over medium-low heat until lightly browned, stirring occasionally, to release their aromatic oils. Artichoke Pesto Makes 8 servings POINTS® value | 1 per serving Ingredients 5 whole artichoke hearts canned in water, drained and rinsed 1 garlic clove, quartered 1 1/4 cups packed basil leaves 1/4 cup toasted pine nuts 3 Tbsp finely grated Parmigiano-Reggiano 3 Tbsp water 1/2 tsp salt Instructions Place all ingredients in a food processor fitted with the chopping blade; pulse a few times, then process until well-chopped but coarsely-grained. To refrigerate up to 2 days, spoon into a small bowl and press plastic wrap right against the dip's surface to minimise the dip turning brown. Serving size: 3 tablespoons. About the Blackberry Salsa There's no reason to stand on ceremony when it comes to salsa. It's a fresh mix of chiles, tomatoes and aromatics. So why not substitute some of summer's best blackberries for some of the tomatoes! Serve with toasted pita triangles—or spoon over scrambled eggs for a new Tex-Mex breakfast. Blackberry Salsa Makes 10 servings POINTS® value | 0 per serving Ingredients 2 cups fresh blackberries (8 ounces), chopped 1 cup small grape tomatoes (4 ounces), chopped 1/4 cup finely chopped shallot 1/4 cup chopped cilantro 1 1/2 tsp finely chopped, seeded pickled jarred jalapeno chile 1/2 tsp sugar 1/2 tsp salt 1/4 tsp ground black pepper Instructions Stir all ingredients in a medium bowl; serve at once or store, covered, in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Serving size: 1/4 cup. About the Sun-Dried Tomato Tapenade Don't use sun-dried tomatoes packed in oil for this summery reinterpretation of the classic Italian olive spread. Instead, search out the dried one in the produce section of your market—or perhaps near the dried fruit. Use the spread over roasted vegetables, as a baked-potato topper, or on fat-free crackers. Easy Sun-Dried Tomato Tapenade Makes 12 servings POINTS® value | 1 per serving Ingredients 1/4 pound (4 oz.) sun-dried tomatoes, without oil 2 anchovy fillets 1 garlic clove, quartered 3/4 cup pitted green olives (approx. 10-15, depending on size) 2 Tbsp drained and rinsed capers 1 Tbsp olive oil 1 Tbsp packed oregano leaves or 2 tsp dried oregano 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce 1/2 tsp ground black pepper Instructions Place the tomatoes in a large bowl; cover with boiling water. Set aside 10 minutes. Drain but reserve 3/4 cup soaking liquid. Place the softened sun-dried tomatoes, 3/4 cup soaking liquid, and the remaining ingredients in a food processor fitted with the chopping blade; pulse a few times, then process until coarsely ground with no chunks in the mix. To store, smooth into a medium bowl, cover and refrigerate up to 4 days; return to room temperature before serving. Serving size: 3 tablespoons. -

Just finished scrubing DH shower .... ugh!! its an awful job.... How does everyone else get BLACK stains on the grout out??? Daily we use the Lysol shower to shower spray.... which is supposed to clean everything before there is a big build up of scum...... but.... my shower stall looks gross. So I took a mr. Clean WHITE Eraser thingy to it... think it helped a bit, but made a white bleach spot in the top I was wearing.... Crap!... Is there a better product I could be using??? -

Oh that is funny.... we both typing at the same time... I tried to finnd you on Skype but I gues you are not online with that right now.... Your trip plans sound awesome... I understand if you can`t make it up to WB (its so way out of your way) but if you do have time perhaps we could meet somewhere in the middle?? for Lunch or Dinner?? Perhaps Toronto?? let me know what yu think... plus leave it until you get to Buff... and see how your timeing goes... try the Seattle Chiro clinic that has the LASER, it might really help and give you some pain relief... it was the ONLY thing that helped heal my back when I had the hern. disc in 2005... so worth it! Little Zoey, she is getting to be the real Princess isn`t she!! Say, how many pairs of shoes are you allowed??? Gotta go try and eat something, my gut is grumbling now:sneaky: oh about that dress.... yes WEAR It, there were MORE ladies wearing BLACK yesterday than ANY other colour!!! The bridesmaids wore RED chiffon dresses and carried RED canalilies.... awesomely beautiful!! -

Hi Girls! Yesterday out of town at a wedding. A DF of mine`s 29 yr old daughter got married.... it was a fabulous time!!! GOt my finger nails put back on on Friday , and its reallly hard to typew!! O.k. wedding, I wore the same black|pewter outfit that I wore to DD`s wedding last Oct.... my SIL said ÒJH, have you lost more weight????```` ah:sneaky: no, but since I have been working out at the gym for the last month and doing my Zumba class.... it must have paid offf!!!! So food, not too bad until the dessert, then liquors.... lots of WINE!!!! but I danced my ass off:biggrin: I was SO bad, Peter dosn`t like to dance eh? so I just pick up who ever I can.... well an uncle of the Groom (BILL) asks me to dance... god he was cute:smile: and a really hgood dancer:thumbup: so we got along fine... bumping and grinding... OH I WAS SO BAD :wink2: flirt, flirt.... oh gosh... then he says are you here with anyone? Ya, my Husband, he``s over there sitting in a chair... its o.k. he dosn`t mind as HE hates to dance.... and JANET I gotta burn off those calories right????? LOL So away I went, and because of my Zumba classes I got new moves and I NEVER got out of breath ALL night... Then some GF`ss I met , we all started GIRL dancing together... and this Young guy... like I mean 30 yrs old... start hitting on me... too freeking funny... guess he liked dancing with the Cougars:rolleyes: All good fun, but I didnt`get home until 1:30 a.m. and this morning I was hung.... oh, ate 1 pc of toast this a.m., then a protien bar, then just tried dinner (steak 2 oz, rice, mushrooms, onions) ah,, no go.... had to give it to »Peter to eat... then I tried Apple waldorf salad.,,,, it didn`t sit right either... so I may have a shake later on when my tummy feels better. Linda; I hope you like the Zumba, I KNOW you`ll love the latin music for sure!!!! But watch that hip, it sometimes bothers mine, and I just take celebrex for a couple of days and tyl if I need it. But the cardio is SO worth it if you can manage. IC E' ICE' ICE it afterwarsds PHYL; I am glad you got to the doc, and hope you can wait it out until Cali when you can get an MRI... Chiropractic, hum, well with all the stuff you`ve been thru why not more physio? Chiro may be helpful, but may be to strong an adjustment for you if you are not used to its principles... JMHO.... are there any BIOFLEX LASER operators around there? I`ll try and google some clinics for you and update later. Karla; whoo-hoo girl.... we should party together!!!! So glad you got out and had some FUN.... agree with the above advise... ignore DD4`s issues... its her sh!t to deal with, not yours... Janet; glad Bella is home safe and sound. DexH sounds like an interesting idea??? Good friends huh:biggrin: You woulda liked my MOVES last night I can so see your hair with bangs.... a poem I heard read at the AA meeting last Sunday... it is wonderful... hope you get something from it too. Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow... YESTERDAY TODAY AND TOMORROW… There are two days in every week about which we should not worry, two days which should be kept free from fear and apprehension. One of these days is Yesterday, with its mistakes and cares, its faults and blunders, its aches and pains. Yesterday has passed forever beyond our control. All the money in the world cannot bring back Yesterday. We cannot undo a single act we performed; we cannot erase a single word we said. Yesterday is gone. The other day we should not worry about is Tomorrow with its possible adversities, its burdens, its large promise and poor performance. Tomorrow is also beyond our immediate control. Tomorrow’s sun will rise, either in splendor or behind a mask of clouds – but it will rise. Until it does, we have no stake in Tomorrow, for it is yet unborn. This leaves only one day – Today – Any one can fight the battles of just one day. It is only when you and I add the burdens of those two awful eternities – Yesterday and Tomorrow that we break down. It is not the experience of Today that drives us mad – it is remorse or bitterness for something which happened Yesterday and the dread of what Tomorrow may bring. Let us, therefore, live but one day at a time. --author unknown -

Thanks Gwendolyn; it never gets old re-reading the 12 steps. Exercise today was 30/30/30 class... supposed to burn 750 cals... but I modified some of the jumping up and down moves.... so I am only counting 500 cals. Came home, DH says.... ``are you alright? your Face is totally RED``.... yup I say... made it through 90 mins of cardio... but I am whooped this afternoon. Tomorrow is my fav..... Zumba class... I wish I could take THAT class 4 times per week:biggrin: For you ladies out there that don`t know me that well yet.... I am a Couch potato in exercise mentality I`ve really only started back at the gym for the laST 2 weeks... but in the last 5 years I have done more than I did in the preceeding 50 years.... so you CAN get back at it. Start small if you have to.... »»Walking for an hour with your dog, Dad, Hubby, friend whatever! I my lazy ass can do it - so can you

Gosh Stephanie! I get tired just listening to your weekend!!! Glad you survived the storms though. its been truly a weird, weird summer weather this year. Ah, school no wonder parents look forward to it so much.... Did I have this much energy when I was in my 40`s?????? Dah, don`t remember... I am getting old ....LOL New program for me at the YMCA today... I took my first 30/30/30 class... it was NOT what I had thought it would be. 30 minutes of STEP aerobics (not my fav. as it is a lot ofjumping up and down, hard on my knees) but I did it... next 30 mins. is Cardio burn with RUBBER Bands... it was hard... but I skipped the part where you fasten rubber bands around your ankles and then to the Grapevine.... nah, I just felt this was a recipe for disaster... me falling over my OWN tied up feet... so I unfastened myself and just did it with Legs and Arms... still sweated a lot. last 30 minutes is AB and CORE work... complete with pushups , skipped the jumping jacks... WTF dosn`t she SEE that I am 55???? anyways, Michelle loved it. Me not so much... but at least I got 90 mins of workout... computer says 750 cals. But I am only counting 500 as I modified some of the moves.... Came home and read my crime novel out on the deck, fell asleep with little Bridget on my lap...ah nice!!!! Now wondering if »I`ll have steak or BBQ`d chicken for supper...... -

I have no idea where my previous post went (of about 1 hour ago???? so I cut and pasted from the other thread) CALORIES«CARBS«FAT«PROTEIN677«71«21«49 Food so far today.... Change of plans. I was all ready to go to the gym at 9:45, went to PICK up Michelle as it was my turn to drive. When I get there, she still has her pj`s on.... apparently she had called me yesterday and said that she wanted to go to her AA meeting Sunday morning instead.... but since I didnt get the message and showed up at her house she invited me to go to her AA meeting with her. I`ve been unable to find an OA meeting in my area so I figured..... One 12 step meeting is as good as another so I went. I am so happy that I did.... there are so many similarities in `>`Behaviours`> between Drug addicts, Food Addicts, Alcoholics.... I could see alot of my self in other people`s stories... it was way cool. Met some very nice people and I did not feel `strange`there amongst them at all... very welcomed in fact. So no exercise for me today! Monday morning is 30/30/30 class and we ARE going to that... apparently its 30 mins cycling, 30 minutes of STEP, then 30 minutes of Yoga... sounds good to me. CALORIESCARBSFATPROTEIN1,5561505173 Thanks Linda for the kind words... I just have to keep practicing "MY JANET VOICE!!!!" lol Oh, Janet; I am sorry to hear about Ryder and Andrew issue... I know you heart must have been breaking the whole time... but you are right to put your foot down. So happy that BELLA was just hiding on you... what a releif!!! In time Andrew will see that you were right, that dog is just too much of a handful for a smaller house, especially when you are not home all the time to supervise. I still have to WATCH Bridget, as she has taken to DIGGING Holes in my back yard!!! Just waiting to trip and fall into one - they are huge! Phyl; Go to the doctor about your back, you may have (unknowingly) made it worse with the rear end car crash... it dosn't take much speed to give you whiplash or a wrenched back... just cover your bases... just in case you need the M.V. Insurance claim. your story about Earl tearing up ...ahw, he is SUCH a softy eh? Gosh, I guess we'll just have to KEEP HIM:rolleyes2: Stephanie: where are you today? making plans for your PINK=A=THON?
