WOW, you've traveled a LONG way to have this surgery... where are you going to get your 'after care'??? in the Yukon? Best of luck tomorrow!
-
well its Sunday now, so you should have had your surgury by now... I know it all went well and that you'll soon be back online chatting up a storm with the rest of us hee, hee. Remember, short term pain for LONG T E R M G A I N (((hugs)))

I was banded at TBLC too, are we supposed to be eating Steak??? I havn't tried anything that "dense" yet.. kinda afraid I guess. Doing mushies, last night I had Chicken/Penne and Cesar salad... could only eat 1/3rd of the restaurant portion brought the rest home to hubby. I hope I am not eating too much... what amounts (volume) is everyone else doing?

for breaky I had a Protien Fruit Smoothie;;;; Lunch was a cut up Mango, 2 Ryevita crakers with Cream Cheese on it. Supper will be Curry Lentil Soup ( KathyBad's recipe from another thread) that's it so far!

OHIP/provincial health care covered??
peaches9 replied to Sybaritic01's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi there, I too paid for my own procedure. OHIP does not consider this "tried and true" as yet and ONLY approves R-n-Y Gastric Bypass IF your BMI is 40 or you have at least 100+ lbs to lose and have co-morbidity issues. A GF of mine had her Roux-n-Y approved and paid for my OHIP, (Feb ' 07) she went to MICHIGAN to the Barix Clinic in Ypsilanti and they were AWESOME!!! she is extremely happy with the care and results. But her doctor wrote an explanation; High BP, Arthritis, Asthma - candidate for a heart attack and could NOT wait the 3 yrs. it takes to get the proceedure in CANADA.... so within 10 days OHIP faxed back the approval.... and voila 12 wks later she had her surg. in Michigan. I went with her for moral support... she started at 260 and is now in the 180's.... pretty remarkable. -
Hi there; you do have a point about the waistband thing.... I do wear 'elastic' banded pants no bluejeans for me as yet... so I'm pretty comfortable so far.. It's just doing the dishes that I have an issue, my PORT is exactly the height of my counter top edge... so now I lean forward from my right-hand side of my tummy... just a small adaptation LOL SEX was good!! whoo-hoo no issues there!:whoo:

DONNA D; Thanks for the kind words of advise... I have been doing much better in my "Mushy" phase. Still doing Pro. shakes for breaky as it's fast and I started a new job this week. lunch I'm taking last night leftovers pulverized in my food processor and apple sauce TOday I had mashed up meatballs/gravy & pumpkin custard... didn't have room for my applesauce. Supper was ';out for dinner with DH" and I had Fish & chips(swapped for roasted potatoes) and mashed all with a fork... oonly ate 1/2 my dinner as it was WAY toomuch food..... my stomach was happy but my EYES wanted to eat the whole thing!!! Plus my DH was having TWO helpings of all you can eat Fajitas!!!! Now I am having a nice cup of decaf coffee on my puter. ;-D :sick KathyBad: Oh my wasn't today yur surgery date????? HOW ARE YOU GIRL???

Junkntrunk; Hey there thanks for the reply. I am doing well, sometimes I have to remind myself that "I" have been banded... I feel so good! sleeping well, started having proper 'BM's" again (thought that wouldnever happen) and now I am on the pureed DIET for 14 days. It's o.k. I had mashed up meatballs and scalloped pototes/broccoli for supper last night and it tasted pretty good. At work I sometimes still take a Protein shake, its just somuch easier + a yogurt or applesauce. I've been making pumpkin pudding too... eggs, evap. skim milk, eggs, pumpkin pie spice... I bake it in rampkins 1/2cup servings... YUM!!! What are you eating? How is your PORT healing? and where was your's placed? (Mine below my navel off to the left)

TMEYER: Glad your op went well... Rest is very important, plus your pain meds (if needed).... Walk, walk, walk and get rid of the gas.... Just think, you've started this new journey that we are all on together! I just started teh MUSHY phase and I must say, I was glad to switch from Full Fluids... 2 more wks until solids and vacation! Take care and check back often

DONNA D: Now that you have had some fills, how much are you able to eat at a meal??? I am trying to watch my portions right now.. I am using the 'cup' from the tea & Saucer set in my everyday dishes... holds about 1/2 cup to 5 oz. (liq measure).. So I am pureeing my food, had 2 meatballs, 1/2 scalloped potoates, 1/2 broccoli... Does that sound about right?? for amounts right now?

Just want to introduce myself
peaches9 replied to lisa in toronto's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm two wks post op now and my port feels like another Belly Button.... I am always putting my 'hand' on it... to kinda check it I guess. Not sore, but "I am always contemplating it".... LOL -
OMG it is getting closer... I am so excited and possitive that I have made the right decision to have this surg. I finally spoke to my Fam. Phys. yest about ordering my MEDS post op in liquid form... a few small glitches, like my anti=depressant cannot be crusshed and mixed with liquids or semi solids... so I have to Switch Antidepressants and open a Capsule and Sprinkle it in a beverage or into my musshy food... I can handle that... hopefully after 1 month I'll be more able to Swallow pills??? Anyone have any thoughts on this???:help:
-
I always CHEW gum in the car while driving.... I know it looks aweful but I hate that 'stale' breath syndrome ya know?? I can't even remember the last time I 'swallowed' gum.... plus my nutritionist never mentioned it as a NO-no... I guess I'd better ask her and get some clarification.

OH Donna D; I am feeling G R E A T .... a little too great... my Pre Surg appetite is B-A-C- K and I've had some cravings too! I am thinking it might have to do with the two glasses of Sangria I had this last couple of days when I had GF visiting from Out of town. Alcholol turns to sugar in the blood, and the cravings started the day after.... yikes. So yest, I ate 18oo cals..... I've been sticking to under 1000 How are YOU doing?
-
yummmm Kathy, that soup sounds good!!!' I am going to try it tonight
-
TINKERBELL Yes, Benefibre is great... does the trick {wink, wink} it is tasteless and dosn't thicken up and get all gooey before you drink it. You can also mix it into your cyrstal lite if you wish or a cup of tea

How Many Calories Do You Consume On An AVERAGE Day?
peaches9 replied to WASaBubbleButt's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I eat 1000- 1200 calories per day. I track stuff on SPARKPEOPLE.com - it tracks Protien, Sodium, Carbs, Fats and Calories.. whatever you wish. has many recipes too It is an awesome FREE site, includes excersise tracker too and much useful info -
No heart disease or diabetes, can I get banded?
peaches9 replied to luvli23's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
you don't state how much you weigh or your height... What is your BMI? If you have a lower BMI sometimes the doctors like you to have another Chronic condition ie. Asthma, Arthritis, Diabetes or High B/P I am a lower BMI person 32 and I want to get to 25 so I have about 65 lbs to lose... -
Nope, no Bowel Prep for us gals from Toronto... just a pre=-op diet of Yogurt/Cottage cheese ( me for 1 wk) some others had to do it longer. The worst was the 4 days Post-0p when all you got was Clear Liquids.

Your food plan of choice.
peaches9 replied to tekymom's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
50 - 60 carbs per day, will still let you lose weight... no need to be extreme as in Aitkins... aim more for the South Beach Approach... Whole grains = healthy carbs + they have your needed fibre. -
Terridoodle; Also try Salmon Fillets... they are firmer and awesome with some FRESH Rosemary crushed up and crushed up garlic cloves.... Saute in a tad of olive oil.... or to keepp the fishy smell out of your house....get one of those WIRE B.B.Q. baskets and GRILL your Salmon or tilapia....its awesome!!! Also try Skewers on the BBQ of Fresh chucks of pineapple, SALMON Cubed, ONION, etc.... Baste with Italian FF salad Dressing and voila!!! I am telling you ~ I did not get this heavy by NOT being a good cook!!! LOL

ummmm, Tilapia... I AM A FISHY SMELLING FISH HATER TOO Tiapia is one of the ONLY fish that I like as it is mild and sweet! I put a little OLIVE oil in a pan, crush a clove of garlic and saute my fish for just a couple of minutes on each side. I prepare all my veggies or sides ahead of time.. and cook the fish last as it takes so little time!!! OMG I've made myself hungry
