    Is this normal?

Hi there; I was banded 11 July, and I go for my 1st fill tomorrow!!!! I can hardly wait as I am HUNGRY too. At first I did Clear Liquids 4 days, then FULL liquids 14 days, then SEMI Soft food 14 days. Then SOLIDS.... I am able to eat ANYTHING right now and I hate it... this is what is known as Bandster Hell.... aptly named LOL. I did cheat abit on MUSHIE foods and switched to solids 4 days earlier than I was supposed to, but I was on Vacation at a cottage and I figured what the heck.... it was hard with communal meals with other NON bandsters. I am looking forward to my fill and hopefully I'll have some restriction.. so I can get this SHOW ON THE ROAD! Good luck to all.

    New to The Group

Hi there, and welcome to the boards.!! I was banded 11 July and so I am six weeks out and expecting my first "FILL" Monday 27th Aug. The surg. was a breeze, only discomfort for me was the Gas pains for 2 days after. But that was easily controlled by walking and tylenol.. I didnt' need anything stronger for pain... I feel very fortunate be have been able to get this surg. and would do it again in a second. keep reading and ask LOTS of questions.

Oh My my TUMMY is rumbling as I type this... I had a can of tuna 45 mins. ago and I'm hungry again already!!! I have my fill on Monday and I have been going over the driving directions all day. ( I am a timid driver in Toronto) and will be avoiding all the highways.. I am planning to allow 3 hrs for my trip so it should be o.k. I am so looking forward to some restriction. This past 6 wks has been a challenge and I am SO looking forward to LOSING SOME WEIGHT... I know it will happen, I just gotta get thru a couple more days of Bandster hell. LOL I was reading the posts about the little boy "Hunter" and his preschool testing. Man-o-man when will the 'system' stop trying to lump our kids all into the same mold. Sheesh, I only had one daughter (now 29) and so certainly "I" am no expert... but kids are INDIVIDUALS with their own gifts, talents and shortcomings... Thank GOD we are all not destined to be Pro Baseball or Football players??? I am SURE that your child will grow into a Loving, caring compationate person -- that's what matters, not weather they can catch a bean bag.. My DD was very uncoordinated athletically (got that from her DAD) but she is a WIZ at computers, great with people and is now a Computer Analyst working for Univ. Of North Carolina!!! Now this is a kid that FLUNKED math classes all thru High School!!! Go figure, once she got to university.... she applied herself and SHONE. Now, she still can't catch a bean bag or do a cartwheel to save her life.. but who cares. Oh yeah, also Her Kingergarden teacher thought she was NOT doing well in Kind. and called me to the school to tell me she was a LOW performer... Ha,ha,ha... guess "we" had the last laugh as parents. We are proud as hell and YOU will be TOO!!! Best of luck & HUGS!~

Hi everyone; I've been away on vacation up north(Canada) and have been trying to read the last 2 wks worth of posts.... EXHAUSTING... Do you guys ever sleep>????? LOL Iread about the 'poopy' problem. Oh yeah, at the beginning(liquid) stages it was aweful, didn't think I'd ever be 'normal' again. But as I introduced solids everything started to work out fine... :-D Eating almost like a horse right now! I hate it!!! My fill is in 6 days and I am REALLY looking forward to restriction. My Volumes of food have probably not been Pre-op high, but definetly I have not made all the best food choices... I had french fries and Fish while up at the lake ... but those days will be over shortly right? Otherwise I feel really good. Question: does any one notice that their Stomach is making a lot more "noise" than it ever did before??? A couple hours after a meal, although I am not feeling hunger pangs yet, I get this RUMBLING like I havn't eaten food in days???? I don't have the burping problem some speak of. Weird?
  11. they should know where to inject because of 1) the scar from the port entry and 2) because you can feel the little bump where your port is. Mine is just under the skin so I think that it will be easy to find.

Indigo Girl, You did very well in that social setting... One glass of wine was awesome. ANd only one french fry??? WOW Kudos to you!!! YOU will be successful on this journey I just know it! Living in "bandster hell" myself right now, just trying to get by each day until my 1st fill... I havn't gained any wgt which is a marvel in itself...I just keep telling myself that THIS will be my LAST fat summer... then it makes it easier to restrain myself. Hang in there

Chimboree, Glad you are excersising... I've been a couch potatoe and havn't made it to the gym since starting my new job... done some walking so I guess that counts right??? How about your band? any info there?
  17. Wow, wonders never cease! I too would be pleased for the others who follow me into LAP BAND... but I have my doubts. A previous question was "how long is the wait time for RnY in Ontario by Cdn Doctors?" and how long a wait would it be for Lapbanders???" Well, one thing I know for sure. As my Best friend was approved by OHIP (paid for ) to go to the US. (Michigan Barix clinic) for her surgery. all she had to do was prove that a Canadian surgeon would not see her fro a consultation for at least a YEAR and then Surgery would be another 2 yr wait... Her health was so drastically affected by her weight that OHIP approved her in 10 days and the clinic opperated on her in two wks of that!!! so from start to finish it was one month for her.. She had her bypas in Feb and has lost over 65 #'s since then. (I went with her) Don't forget WE can use our $16,000 bill on our incometaxes this year as a deduction.

don't worry its not a pitty party... you are NOT alone in this... I am in Bandster Hell right now too. I have to wait until 27th Aug for my 1st fill... seems like an eternity from now...3 weeks. ARGH! I am hungry too, but drinking a pro shake for breaky, taking one for mid morning snack, then a huge V8, Lunch I had some chicken salad.. and a cup of tea. Supper will be spaghetti squash, choppec chicken & pasta sauce with cheese on top... Yogurt for snack tonight if I need it. it is yucky when your post surgery swelling goes, as I thought " Hey, I'm having some restriction"... .. NOT cruel joke on me

Banded 7/17 - help, need advice

Dear Reconciler; I am glad you are feeling better. But go easy with the Food!!! even the semi solids... VOLUME is not what we are going for here... just 1/2 cup of food, if you are hungry 2-3 hrs later have some more protien.. My nutritionist suggested (my op was july 11th) I needed MORE Protein and keep the CARBS out of my diet completely, as they just make you crave more carbs and trigger cravings. Also, bread, potatoes will ferment in your digestive system and make...GAS... So smaller meals, more often containing more protien.. that was her best adv ise. Good luck.. p.s. dosn't it suck when you get your old appetite back??? and you have to wait for a FILL!!!
  21. I am full right now, but Not stuffed. I ate some mushy/soft foods today... and too much at supper. how is this supposed to hurt us??? I was supposed to be full liquids for 2 more days, but I just couldn't hold out. argh :cry
  22. Right on Doddie! I am with you ... I tried a glass of wine, just didn't taste quite as good as before banding(?) Don't know why but why force it eh??? So I dont' with the wine. Now Sat. I did try a Ceasar/Vodka... and it was nice although SPICIER than I had recalled... what';s up with my taste buds?? Anyways, it was a non carbonated drink so it was tolerated well... until I got the bar bill!!! Man it was $7.50 before the 3 taxes were added on + the tip... it was definelty NOT worth it... I'll volunteer to be the DD and bring my own Crystal Lite! LOL

KathyBad; Your daughter looks so sweet!!! and she DOES look like you... isn;t it wonderful how fate works???
  24. Hi reconciler; I know how tempting it is to start eating more, especially once the post op swelling has settled. I too was finding it 'easy' to overeat and was getting more than I needed. I got a chastising from anothe BANDSTER (one with more experience) and I thank GOD that she was candid with me... You don't want your 'new' stomach doing too much work right now... even if it 'feels o.k.' You should be eating protien every 2 - 3 hours... keep your blood sugar up, stay satieated and keep your energy up... STAY AWAY FROM CARBS they will only make you hungrier... Did you ever do South Beach Diet??? well just remember the first stage part... Protien and Veggies....(MUSHIES) So that gives you, Cottage cheese, yogurt, scrambled eggs, Protien shakes, Protein Powder*unflavored for in your Soups, chowders etc... lean meats/poultry/fish..... and pureed vegetables... V8 juice!! or Tomatoe juice also are filling. Evening eating???? I'd suggest Diet puddings, Yogurts, Frozen SugarFree Yogurt(caution) I need to keep my hands busy in the evenings and stay away from teh TV and the kitchen... I like to quilt so I've been doing A LOT of sewing... Its an important time before our first fill... and I know it seems like an eternity - but the results will be well worth it... and a year from now - we will be thin.... and you also don't want to jeapardize your band with a slippage issue(fromovereating) or because the stomach didn't rest enough after surgery (6wks) to form the scar tissue needed to keep the BAND in its proper placement. Keep well & (((hugs)))

    Lucky 7's RECIPES Thread

Hi there;, the recipe for burgers(beans) sounds so good.. Can you re-do the complete recipe for me??? how much Beans etc... do you add to the mix.. It sounds like it'd be a recipe I'd love... I am always looking to cut down on meat, but I LOVE the taste of it so much... this recipe would be a great compromise. THANKS IN ADVANCE
