Am I too "tight" ? .... 2nd fill yesterday
peaches9 replied to peaches9's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Julie, I am sorry that your fill exp. is not going so well. Like some of the other suggestions with full liquids, try some warm tea. That loosens me up a bit. 1st thing in the morning I am really tight, can hardly sip any liquid, BUT the fill nurse at my clinic asked me to try warm Oatmeal /milk... guess what .... it was the first thing that went down without a hitch.! I am 4 days since my last fill, still a wee bit tight - but each day seems a bit more managable. I am using a baby spoon to eat with (force myself to take small bites) and try to not rush those 2 -3 bites... if you are slow with those the rest seems easier. Easier said than done though especially if you are HUNGRY. Good luck:hungry: -
Tell me your story I can't pick a MX surgeon!!

Oh my, what a dance! If a US citizen who has to selfpay, why not consider Canada? Toronto there are TWO good clinics to choose from... Fly to Buffalo N.Y and drive across to Toronto.. short trip. COST in Cdn. $ 16-17,000 more than Mexico, but way less than in the US. just my 2cents -

WOW, I can't wait until I can feel ribs!!!! I was excited at collar bones! Just beginning to find pelvic bones, still a fair chunk of flesh on those puppies.. LOL -
Hi Missy; I am certain that what you are feeling at this moment is NORMAL. After surg. there is so much swelling inside and until that subsides, you may have less of an appetite than normal. Not to worry, it will come back. My Doc recommends 6wks post op until 1st filled. Once I was on solids, Oh my gosh - did my appetite come back. It is what as known as "bandster hell" because you feel great, could (can) eat anything in sight and have NO restriction because you havn't been thru the fill process yet. and regarding Fills, it is a process... it takes longer than anyone of us wants to wait until we get the restriction that we "paid for".. LOL Enjoy you non appetite for now, just get in your Protein as recommended by your nutritionist and you'll do fine.

For VG 10 cc Bandsters ONLY
peaches9 replied to BeacheeGirl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
How was your experience there? My GF had her Ru-n-Y bypass done by Barix in Michigan and they were fabulous there... what was the cost of the Lapband by them? Did you have any ins. coverage to help out? or were you self pay? -
For VG 10 cc Bandsters ONLY
peaches9 replied to BeacheeGirl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hello, I was 'done' in Toronto Canada. My first fill at 6wks was 5 cc's... Nurse tested me by making me drink 500ml of water before I was allowed to leave the clinic. I was tightish but the water could go down, it took me 1/2 hour to drink the water. NOw this past Tues, I got my 2nd fill = 2 cc's.. so now I have a total of 7 cc's in my 9.5 cc BAND. Just today I am able to drink and eat a little more comfortably. .... but oh my is the weight starting to come off. Between fill #1 and #2 I only lost 2.5 lbs.. and I was pissed with that, but also had not much restriction. After fill#2 I have lost 1 lb per day so far... BONUS!!! I hope you get the fills you wish for, try and be patient as being TOO FULL is no fun either. Good luck! -
I am just a noisy nelly, I am really looking forward to meeting everyone on Sunday!

did my dr really band me?
peaches9 replied to tsunami1967's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't worry, a week without protein will be o.k.... Your body has lots of stores built up. PLUS the healing around your BAND is critical at this time. Don't rush to Full fluids or mushie's follow your Doctors instructions to the tee and you will have a Great Success! I know the clear liq phase is the WORST of all!!! I hated it too, what I needed to feel "well" was electrolyte drinks... Gaterade or some baby Pedialyte... mixed with my Apple juice did the trick. I was losing my potassium and sodium just on clears and was starting to feel week, and had diarhea too. Liquids in = Liquids out. Yuk, but once I started on Full Fluids (ie Protien shakes) everything was fine ... I still feel really good, and I'm 3 mos. post op. have lost 19 lbs. since surgery so I am very happy. I'be had 2 fills to date./ -

In my opinion, get TWO consults... one from SWLC Dr. Mumford/Coburn and also go and see Dr. Yau at Toronto Lap Band Clinic... nothing like comparison shopping to see who YOU feel is the best fit. I was banded at TBLC Jul 11th everything surgically went very well. I've had 2 fills now and am losing weight well.. Good luck in whatever you decide. If you'd like to Private Message me I can provide answers to any ques. you may like to ask. -
Man'o Man I seen to have been reading alot about FLIPPED Ports from patients of Dr. Yau's??? Am I mistaken? Everyone who has flipped please respond. Thx
-
Do I understand you right? Did your surgery cost $64,000???? That's unbeleivable.

Car: I did check out your place in Narbonne, its beautiful... now what is the exchange on a Euro?? So that I can figure out costs in Canadian $$ Thanks, Peaches9

peaches9 replied to peaches9's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Nope, no reflux... just gotta chew 30/bite and not rush my bites... I don't think I knew the meaning of the word "SLOW" until I got this 2nd fill. I still have trouble with liquids, but solids are better today.. So I must be loosening a tad. -
Dini; I am so impressed with your memory! Yes, I am a bit tight, but I've decided to ride it out for a couple of days. I seem to be a 'wee' bit better today than yesturday.. I was down some more in weight today, guess keeping your food to under 800 cals really does pay off LOL... I am glad I got this band & grateful for all my new Buddies on here!

Hi Bluebike; I am glad that you are happy with your fill results. The first day is a bit scary!! I was getting stuck on water too. Today has been a bit better, had some turkey salad for lunch 1/2 cup ...ooohh it tasted so good! I made a turkey casserole for dinner tonight so I am hoping it will be o.k. too. Worried that I am not getting in enough liquids though.. its hard to sip sip at water!

I was a bit worried last night when at work I couldn't finish a Snack Pak of Tuna salad... I was hungry but it just was not going down easily. I was starting to feel a bit of pressure.. Later at home though I made a bowl (oatmeal packett) of oatmeal 3/4 cup + milk and some Protein powder... ate it slowly and was fine. Slept well. When I got up this a.m. I took it very slow with my Water. Breakfast was turkey salad on a wasa... only ate 1/2 of that. lunch was better, ate 1/2 cup turkey salad and 1/2 vanilla pudding. It seems its harder to get in the liquids H2O than the solids...??? Am I weird or what.? -
Oh cool, I am so glad that we didn't have to change locations!!! Can you imagine getting 24 bandsters to pre-agree on a menu??? ROTFLMAO see you at 12, be there or be square!

Thanks Green; I called the Fill nurse at TBLC and she suggested trying some Oatmeal/milk... I used a baby spoon and took VERY small bites, and tried to chew a long time before swallowing. It did not get stuck but I am getting a few burps... I can live with that! -
Chim; You are great at this online stuff.... you always remember everyone's names to say Hello. I LOVE this board... I don't know where I'd be with out the support and advise. I am having a bit of trouble swallowing this a.m.( 2nd fill yest) it was easier last night. Ii am wondering how long it will be tight and if I just need to be patient and wait it out? I'd really like some sort of breaky, I am hungry.

Well Done Josephine; and you did all this without a FILL? That's incredable.. I too am a food addict, my major obsession is with SUGAR it is an aweful culprit for me to avoid. At least with the BAND I can't pig out on it... I get full THANK GOD. But my ultimate goal is to NOT have it be part of my healthy diet at all... I am working towards that!
