You will be surprised at all the support you get at TLBC. I have taken advantage of the SUpport group as well as the nutritional classes.. Jill is awesome and so is Nancy the fill nurse. Everytime I have a question or email they respond very quickly. Also, I was there on Wed and was told they are getting a 'new' member on their team. A psychiatrist, who will be helping us all with our 'emotional' elements to losing weight and keeping it off permanently.. this will be a great advantage to us all as I am an emotional eater and I think there are a lot of 'us' out there. Best of luck , post often and ask lots of questions!

What was your starting weight? You have done very well so far... keep it up... I just had my 3rd fill yesterday and it's made a difference. I was really needing some more restriction for sure!

Just a quick check in today... I had my 3rd fill yesterday at TLBC I got nancy to put in 1 cc... but it was too much So she defilled me 1/4 of a cc... PERFECT!! I could drink my Water and this morning i was TIGHT, but a good tight! I ate solid chicken for lunch with some celery sticks and carrot sticks.. I ate really slowly but it all stayed in an NO p.b.'s Yeah! I am back on my TRACK.... We've just all got to keep giving each other a 'nudge' of motivation now and again. We will all go thru it - when we beat ourselves up... This board ROCKS>:clap2:

How much longer will you live? (Banded)
peaches9 replied to Chicagoboy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
but they are usally in wheelchairs and/or walkers as their knees have given out. My mother was athletic and svelt her whole life but since she has blood pressure issues she has had 7 strokes. I did not want to end up like that!! My BP was starting to climb and my knees are sore all the time... I am really glad I made the decision to get this lap band and finally my BP is reading normal again.. YEAH! -
Dear Susan; Reading your post it was like YOU were reading my mind (& Heart ) too! I have been eating no so good stuff and not feeling much restriction(2fills) and was beating myself up for stopping at Timmies and getting Cookies. argh! I had my 3rd fill today, but stayed for the support group afterwards. What a great motivator that was for me. You stick it out GF, our motivation waxes and wanes but it will come again... We are all here for you!! HUGS

How the Lap-Band actually works, fills and refills
peaches9 replied to Wendell Edwards's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thank you so much for posting this information... I had no idea why I'd get a fill and a few weeks later need another after what I thought was "good" restriction. My eyes are now open! -
I personally didn't 'feel' any different after my 1st fill. Until I was tasked to drink 500ml of Water by the nurse prior to leaving the clinic. This ensures that restriction is not too tight. That first 'sip' of water really felt weird... like a bubble so to speak and I could feel it trickle down... I had to learn to take small sips and not GULP drink beverages anymore. Its just part of my new bandster life. Small bites, and chew, chew, chew

Strange, so your band tightened up all on its own??? Will we need to be filled and unfilled our whole lives??? -
Is anyone going to the TLBC open house on Dixon Rd Nov 30th? It sounds like fun. I have already booked a room for overnight

wow your weight loss is fantastic!! I am a little plateaued right now and going for another fill tomorrow (3rd) How many fills did it take for you to lose weight well.?? -
It dosn't matter what big decisions you make in life... you will receive some critisism for them all from others. 1) Lapband surg. solution is NOT easy... YOU still have to do the work, watching your protien, calories, fat grams etc. staying away from EMPTY calories, ie alcohol and icecream etc.. they go right THRU the band. 2) you need to NOT drink for 30 - 60 after each meal... to retain that FULL feeling 3) you have to commit to excersise and a healthy lifestyle none of the above are a quick fix. consider your friend ill informed and ignore them I had the WORST reaction from my (loving) sister!! what a shock! she even called my DH behind my back to see if I had gone 'nuts'... she will never understand what it has b een like for me to battle with my weight all my life.. she has a different body type than mine.. it is not important that the other people get it.... its only important that YOU GET IT! Good luck and be strong

Good luck in your recovery and stick to the Liquid and mushy stage as long as is recommended.. you'll do fine and we are all here to provide support, recipes or whatever... Take care

Ya that First Bite syndrome got me today again at lunch. I had a chicken breast(no skin or bone) 2 oz. cut up small mixed with Mashed Turnip(still chunky) 3/4 cup... Well that first tiny forkfull AUCK! Just a painful lump. I go to the bathroom toss it ... then continue my meal... slowly then I can get everything in no problem. I actually wish I could eat LESS volume and think I need another 'tweek' fill of about .25 cc's or maybe .5 cc... would be just about right. I am going on vacation to Cuba a week from today, so I've booked my FILL for my return. I have not lost any more weight since my 2nd fill... initially I could only get in about 800 cals a day, now I can get between 100 - 1500.... too many!!!

I am glad to read that someone talking about this abortion subject has a brain! Thank you for your remarks... they mirror mine. -
Thanks Boo-boo Kitty; I was sure that I had read something about that... I am a little looseish right now and was planning on another fill (3rd) after my return from Vacation. ((hugs))

Jackie, I am so glad that you got your fill adjusted! That is an aweful feeling. I was really glad you gave us the info on your "backup" problem... Ihad no idea that that could happen to us bandsters....!! I will definetly keep vigile over my B.M.'s and make sure that I take my fibre! Hello Dini, Phyl and all you other gals!!

Its a funny thing this band. One day I can eat a 1/2 bran muffin and the next day it gets stuck... Steak has been tricky, I cut it in TINY pieces and chew 20-30 times per bite... sometimes it still gets stuck. chicken is good, FISH is the best thing to eat I've found. Had no troubles with any vegetables!!! Yeah! I always have to be careful with my FIRST Bite of anything though, and chew well, then WAIT... for that second bite. I think I hurry when I am hungry for my meal... Chicken wings go down well too. Pork chops get stuck, pork tenderloin is o.k. as also Ham... Spare ribs... too stringy. Ground beef is o.k. as we..
-
I take a 6 oz. can of Ham Flake it with a fork Mix in: Chopped sweet pickle or relish if you have it on hand 1 Tbspn Low Fat Hellmans Mayo Then I just eat 1/2 of it with a fork for lunch, sometimes I'll follow 1/2 hour later with glass of V-8 juice... YUMMY and EASY

Hey there, Indigogirl you did GREAT On the excersise!!! You do get to like it after a while!! Trust me on that. Holiday weekend was warm here, its the first Thanksgiving ever that I can remember Begging my husband to turn the Air Conditioner on...
-
Indigogirl; Thanks for the Happy Turkey day wishes... It will be great to get together with family and friends... I had planned on having a Spiral Ham - but DD is not eating RED meat any more!!!! So I am having roasted Capon instead.. a turkey is just too darn big for my little family. I am always puzzled as to why Americans celebrate in Nov. and we celebrate in October... seems to me that Columbus discovered North America at the same time hee,hee... any history buffs out there??? I may be cross border shopping on the long weekend in Nov (your Thnxgvg) as our dollar is so good right now... but it'll be way crowded in the stores eh??? We drive over to New York State some huge outlet mall.
-
for all the Sage advise... I havn't tried the SODA as I have enought trouble getting in my WATER. But I have been successful in logging my food intakes again... I am much more content now. and NO more Chocolates!!! This is our Canadian Thanksgiving... but Happy Columbus day to all of YOU!!!
