Unfortunately, the weather put a detour in my plans and at the last minute I cancelled my hotel room and the drive into Toronto... I was thinking of you ALL though.. Perhaps I'll get to a luncheon in the New Year... Damn Winter~~ :angry

I have had 5 fills and at 9 cc's and NO RESTRICTION... I am so pissed. I called to get a FLOuro done so see if my band is leaking and was told NO!~ "Lots of patients need more than 9 cc in their 10 cc band (actually holds 13) to feel restriction" ... what? I feel really jyped and disappointed. What recourse do I have?

Oh Doddie; you kinda sound down? Are you o.k.? What troubles are you having.... can I help

I got another fill today. .75 cc's for a total of 9 now... I hope I'll have room left in my band if I still need more to attain my sweet spot. I havn't had any restriction for the last two wks and gained 2 lbs. Not impressed with that. Lets all wish each other Luck on this journey and keep checking back with results... I want us all to loose 5 - 10 lbs by Xmas!!! :clap2:

I totally commiserate with you in N. Wisconsin... I'm from Canada, not very far north really but tonight we are having SUCH a storm out there. Big fat Snow flakes and a howling wind of 50 mph.... Glad I am indoors with the fireplace on. I had another fill today, .75 cc's and I'm up to 9 cc's in Total... I'd better have some restriction tomorrow as I drove 5 hours today in this weather to get my top up. Wish me luck!

Well I am glad that all you U.S. gals had a great Thanksgiving... now on to Xmas preparations eh? Kathybad; congrats on your DH job... that is wonderful news. Will I still see you both on the 30th of Nov at the TLBC Bash??? I hope so, the only reason I'll not be there is if we have BAD weather that makes the driving from up north tricky. I am not doing as well with the weight loss as others who have posted here. Since my last fill I have had NO restriction and can eat everything, even Pizza and bread... don't know what's happened. It's like my band has lost FLUID... I am going to the clinic to see the fill nurse Tues. so hopefully she can fil me up agian. I am really hoping that she didn't 'nick' the band tubing the last time she tried to fill... On the first Poke she didn't hit the port, so on the second try she did.. but now I am worrying that her 1st poke may have nicked the tubing hence a slow leak and no restriction. If anyone has any suggestions for me I'm all ears. :straight

ALIDA; Hello there, white bread will probably get stuck once you have proper restriction in your band. While some bandsters are able to eat white bread, my nutr. advises against it as you CAN and should eat healthier complex carbohydrate choices such as Whole grain Wasa Bread/crackers, coucous, bulgar, barley, oats etc... these have carbs but also have protien and fibre. Staying on liquids: Post surg. 1 week Clear liquids, 2 wks full liquids, then 2 weeks of muchies, then onto SOLID fills ... by this time you should be getting close to your first FILL appointment anyways at about 6 wks post op. Head hunger? Ah that is a real dilemma for most of us... I stillhavn't mastered that.. Instead of eating chocolate I'll switch and eat prunes, or a SF FF Yogurt or pudding in the evenings... But I have a real sweet tooth and this has always been my nemisis... I am still learning to deal with it. Boredom, lonliness = head hunger for me... I need to keep busy in the evenings or else I scrounge around looking for something to eat( and its usually not the healthiest idea) -
Interesting thread. My Nutritionist and RN just gave me sh!t over this issue. I was drinking Pro supplements for breaky and lunch because I get no breaks at work for lunch. You simply cannot leave the desk to eat... at least for me as I have to chew, chew, chew my solid food and it takes so long.. so I circumvented and drank pro shakes which I could squeeze in. "In order to get the FULL feeling we require to feel satisfied you need to eat solid foods and get your calouries for solid foods" end quote. So I have been trying and have not had a pro shake in a week. but now I am eating JUNK Not having a good week cal wise some other issues at work and I am just eating out of emotional comfort... argh! I need to stop.

PB'ing is Productive Burping.... its when you food gets stuck in your upper pouch(new stomach) and won't go down.. so it has to come back up or you are in a lot of pain. Head Hunger is the appetite for eating that is NOT associated with physical hunger(lack of food) you can have "head Hunger" after your pouch is full or in the evenings when we overeaters get to wandering the kitchen 'just looking for something'... get it? The BAND will not cure head hunger;, you will need to work throu that oon your own. You may need to PB when you don't follow the bandsters rules for eating... !) eat slowly, tiny bites, chew each mouthful 20 - 30 times 2) speed between bites 3) No Drinking any beverage Water or otherwise WITH or AFTER a meal for at least 30 minutes. 4) No bread -
HELP! Fill the day before Thanksgiving?
peaches9 replied to wilem's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I only go on FULL FLUIDS for the day of the fill, then to solids the next morning... been filled 4 times so far... no problems. This is the schedule that is recommended by my clinic. -
don't worry about the sideways port... mine is too and she(fill nurse) has no problems... don't go borrowing trouble o.k. I think the first fill is two hours because you can stay for a seminar (important) afterwards and get lots of useful info and meet others in the same boat.

o.k. I must confess that this has happened to me too. One of my fav. foods since banding is Ham salad, I just eat it with a spoon then have some carrot sticks and apple for lunch. I am always tighter in the morning, a bit looser my lunch and o.k. at supper time for sure... but this odd time I'll be tight for apparently no good reason. I ate Ham salad for supper , got 2 bites in the PB'd pain was aweful.... I think I just ate too quickly between bite#1 and bite#2... I really have to watch the start of my meal for this...

Hi there, don't be nervous... Nancy does a good fill. You won't feel a thing. and she's as quick as a bunny. I go in Tues. 27th for my 5th fill so I'll just miss you

Sounds like "Pouch Packing" to me and you've STRETCHED out your pouch, food is backing up into your esophagus and causing the reflux. This could be dangerous and might cause your band to slip out of position. I'd ask for an evaluation under floro. N.B. PB'ing means 'Productive Burping' its not really 'barfing' as the food comes back up with just a gob of mucus around it and the food hasn't been mixed with stomach juices (lower pouch) yet. -
HELP! Fill the day before Thanksgiving?
peaches9 replied to wilem's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
remember that this is a permanent lifestyle change? This is only the first on many celebrations that you'll have to face as a bandster. Get your fill on schedule and eat accordingly, you'll be so much happier with yourself after theholiday and you've LOST WEIGHT!! Speaking only for myself, I abused the priveledge of eating like "normal" people at Thanksgiving many, many years ago... so I feel like its time I was responsible for what goes in my mouth. -
FaithMD you got any ideas on the above??

I am having some similar problems. I've had 4 fills. When I went for my last one the RN had to POKE me twice as the first time she didn't hit my port. She does a slight withdrawl, then plungers the amout of saline back in plus the slight bit that she withdrew. Because she didn't hit my port it kinda hurt a little.. I knew right away cause all my other fills were completely painfree. SO she takes a second stab, hits my port (she says) but now I have LESS restriction than before my 4th fill???? What's up with that? Do you think she might have 'nicked' my port tube on poke number 1??? I am booked for another fill Nov 27th. Currently I am supposed to be at 8.25cc's in a 10 cc band.

Great post! I thought I was the only one with Medication issues. I was taking and swallowing my pills fine... but then I'd sometime get this horrible heartburn/reflux thing.. as my pills were dissolving in my UPPER pouch and not my lower stomach. So my nutritionis advised a Acid reducer.. prevacid or ranitadine OTC... it is doing the trick . My medications can not be crushed they are enteric coated ment to disolve in the lower GI tract.
