JulieNYC's Lateral Thigh Lift and Brachioplasty
peaches9 replied to JulieNYC's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Did you have your Breast Implants done yet? I thought it was sched. for Dec 20th??? -
Hi everyone, but especially MarCar!!! (wink, wink I've met you in the lobby at TLBC) Yes, the preop diet sucks .... I still can't eat cottage cheese and its been 5 mos. since surgery LOL I found the post op diet worse though as I was WAY hungry and it was 6 wks as opposed to 2... I can do anything for 2 weeks.. How was everyone's Christmas??? I am not tight, but did stick to only ONE plate of Turkey!!! Kudos to me!!! I usually have 3 plate fulls on Xmas day... so there is an improvement there. I have a slow leak in my band and am going for a Flouro Xray Jan 7th. After that gets fixed, I'll be on my way again in WL and hopefully catch up to all your great loser's LOL

Uncomfortable eating solid food/3 weeks post surgery
peaches9 replied to Claire's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I know that most surgeons differ in their post op diets. But Mine is very conservative. and We can't eat solids until Week 5 post op. SO that being said, why not go back to mushies for a week or two... it can't hurt. and besides you just may be a slower healer... thats all. Good luck -
Happy Boxing Day!!! It's our 'Nutso" shopping day here in Canada, kinda like your day after Thanksgiving Nov26th... whadya call it? Black Friday? Anyway I tried to nail my DH foot to the floor to keep him from going shopping!! As we havn't opened our Christmas gifts yet. The kids can't get here until the weekend plus with my Mom's illness Crisis and Relatives Funeral it just seemed like a good idea to post pone. Anyways, He goes out and buys BOOTS!!! I already have a pair for him under the tree! He does this to me every year, he either goes out 4 days before Xmas and buys something that "I" was thinking of buying him... argh! Oh well, hope he kept the receipts. VERY cold here today, yesturday was zero Celcius and today it's -15 degrees... Ice on everything outside. Trees look very pretty though. Have a great day everyone and Happy Restricted New Year

Lynette; I am so happy to see you posting again... I've missed you. Kathy; Enjoy your day, you are taking everything in stride and have a positive and loving soul. Janet; I LOVE the smilies, gave me a chuckle this a.m. My DH and I are going to spend the day with my Mom at her Sr's Res. and have a nice turkey dinner with them... It will be my first Xmas ever where "I" am served dinner LOL. Enjoy everyone!!

Jackie506 You look great, good job!!! I love the pictures, keep us posted. Kathybad; I will be thinking of you and your family. Dad's are very special and I know you must hate to see him suffer. Don't worry about the stress eating... likeyou said at least it didn't get WAY out of control. (((hugs))) Peaches

My goodness, its been such a long time since we've heard from you!! You are doing so well with your weight loss... fantastic. I've been away from the computer for a few days, some family illness and then a funeral too... its been stressful. As a result the kids aren't coming for Xmas tomorrow. It's been postponed until the weekend... Keep well everyone and Happy Holidays!!!

Hi there, I had wondered what happened to him.. as he used to be at TLBC in Toronto. I am glad that you had him as your surgeon, as he has a very good reputaion!!! and has done many, many bands. Keep to your staged reintro to foods, and do everything they tell you...welcome to BAND LAND!
-
I remember my Pre Surgery excitement well... just remember this will be your last fat Christmas... o.k. I CAN see you smiling now... Just like Doddie said, those 6 wks of healing are crutial and eating exactly as THEY tell you... you can do anything for a short period of time... once you start getting your fills you'll be on your way. Happy New Year! p.s. where are you from doll

JulieNYC's Lateral Thigh Lift and Brachioplasty
peaches9 replied to JulieNYC's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Hi Julie; Tomorrow iis the big boob day huh? Well, best of luck for a speedy uneventfull recovery... Can't wait to see your after pics (hee, hee) -
Congrats on that NICE compliment... whoo-hoo for you!!! You will be a great roll model for their practise. I went for another fill today, kinda depressing . Gained 3 lbs in the past 2 wks.. PLUS the nurse withdrew all the fluid in my band... should have been 9.75 in there but only 4cc's remain!!! So she added another 2.75 and ordered a fluro xray for me on Jan 7th.. She said she'd top me up before Xmas on the 24th if I wanted... Ah drats!! Guess it must be a leak eh??:phanvan

How the Lap-Band actually works, fills and refills
peaches9 replied to Wendell Edwards's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I went in for my 7th fill today in a 10 cc band. I should have had 9.75cc's in there but the Fill Nurse could only 'pull' out 4 cc's. I was banded July 11 and started with my 1st fill 6wks later. So today she added 2.75 to my 4 remaining cc's = 6.75 She also booked me for a Fluro Xray Jan 7th to see what's up with my band. IF I need a port replacement do they go back in thru the old scar? Can it be done under LOCAL Anesthetic?? I'd appreciate your thoughts Dr. Watkins -
For VG 10 cc Bandsters ONLY
peaches9 replied to BeacheeGirl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Well, today I went in for another fill. The Nurse WITHDREW all the liquid that was IN my band just to see how much was there..... well, only 4 cc's came out, so she put that back in and added another 2.75 cc/s - could just drink my water. So now I am booked for a fluro Xray in Jan to see what's up with my band. There must be a leak which is what I've been telling her for a month now!! Argh! -
Thank goodness that house is the 'exception' rather than the rule in size. It would be a good starter home for a single gal or gent. The house prices in Toronto are very high. I actually emailed my DD that pic too as a joke. She and her sign. other are planning to buy something modest in the New Year... cant' get anything decent under $300,000 ... its enough to give you an anxiety attack.

So how was your Care? How much have you lost...? How many fills have you had so far, and are you at your "sweet spot" yet?
-
Hi there, Your numbers in July look very similar to mine, except that you have done much better in the w/loss dept. But I am hopefull that the New Year I will be better restricted and able to lose again. Funny about the pictures and weight loss, I still feel very fat even though people who have known me for a long time keep telling me how much I have lost and that I look great... it is still NOT what I see when I look in the mirror. Guess that will be something else I'll work on in the future... Today, I am just grateful to be alive. Healthy and on a better road in life. Best of the Season to everyone!

This is a tricy time of year for emotions... go let yourself have a bad day... You managed "the" cookie beautifully... One is an awesome accomplishment.

Sorry to hear that your tummy still hurts. Most likely just a wee bit of bruising inside. THey have to move things around a bit in there to secure the band into position. If you are hungry I'd suggest frequent mini meals of PROTIEN. If you are still on full fluids... protien shakes every 3- 4 hours. Lots of warm tea in between, do you like green tea? I became quite a fan of it and its supposed to be very good for you. If you are on MUSHIES the variety is endless really. MY fav was chopped ham salad... just canned ham with a bit of mayo. Or Tuna salad, (chicken) anything that you favour just be sure its got Protien as this will stay with you longer than any other food group. Plus it will help you heal faster and stay stronger too. Best of luck :clap2: -
Forget Rednecks, here is what Jeff Foxworthy has to say about :kiss Canuks: > If your local Dairy Queen is closed from September through May, > you may live in Canada. > If someone in a Home Depot store offers you assistance and they > don't work there, you may live in Canada. (because we are so friendly) > If you've worn shorts and a parka at the same time, you may live in Canada > If you've had a lengthy telephone conversation with someone who dialed a wrong number, you may live in Canada If "Vacation" means going anywhere south of Muncie for the weekend, you may live in Canada. If you measure distance in hours, you may live in Canada If you know several people who have hit a deer more than once, you may live in Canada If you have switched from "heat" to "A/C" in the same day and back again, you may live in Canada If you can drive 90 kms/hr through 2 feet of snow during a raging blizzard without flinching, you may live in Canada If you install security lights on your house and garage, but leave both unlocked, you may live in Canada If you carry jumpers in your car and your wife knows how to use them, you may live in Canada If you design your kid's Halloween costume to fit over a snowsuit, you may live in Canada If the speed limit on the highway is 80km -- you're going 90 and everybody is passing you, you may live in Canada If driving is better in the winter because the potholes are filled with snow, you may live in Canada If you know all 4 seasons: almost winter, winter, still winter and road construction, you may live in Canada If you have more miles on your snow blower than your car, you may live in Canada. If you find 2 degrees "a little chilly", you may live in Canada If you actually understand these jokes, and forward them to all your Canadian friends & others, you definitely live in Canada

Yeah, Dini is back from her trip. Wow, you had lots of excitement... oh and your picture is awesome. You are beautiful, but those eyes!!! My you do have a devilish twinkle there girl. I totally know what you mean about traveling companions who are S_L_O_W, late, or get drunk too much and miss dinner... it can be very irritating. You never know someone until you share a hotel room for a week. ARGH! My last trip with the 'girls' was to Puerto Vallarta Mexico and my room mate and I had been friends for decades... I knew she was a clothes horse but GOD I didn't know she expected me to wait while she took 2 hours to dress and put on makeup! And we were just going to the beach!!! Plus she was on the prowl and I am happily married... big difference. Ah but you live and learn eh? So now that you've been across the pond to New York you must try Canada next. Montreal or Toronto are both nice large cities.... Spring, Summer or Fall.... don't come in our winter as you'd not be used to it. Its beautiful but only if you come from here and are used to playing in the snow.

This is a VERY challenging time of year... I too have had trouble with the sweet stuff. I have no restriction right now, and feel unbanded... so I guess I'm feeling a tad sorry for myself... not a possitive mindset for a BANDSTER. So lets be Bander Buddies, wanna get some help and support? PM and let me know o.k.

Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Part Two Dr. Kirshenbaum
peaches9 replied to want2bmeagain's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
You'll probably sleep most of the way. WIth the exception of 'comfort' stops along the way. You are pretty groggy after general anesthetic. Gas pains were my only complaint after surgery. The insisions are so tiny. No real discomfort there. I only took Tordol and Tylenol for pain. 48 hrs. I was up walking/hiking the next day. and I'm 52!! Just a heads up, this is a time consuming and patience trying experience. I was banded July 11th and have had fills every 2 wks since Aug 27th... the only weight I've lost was on the pre op diet... Still trying to get to my proper restriction level... I have a French Midband 10 cc's (mls) I am hoping that the NEW YEAR brings perfect restriction and more rapid weight loss. -
Hi everyone and happy Snowy Sunday... well at least it is here.. MAJOR Snow storm here in Ontario.. Cold air up from Texas !~ thanks alot... like we didn't have enough of our own LOL Kathybad; I am glad to see you posting again, I've missed you. I am so sorry to hear of your Father's condition. I pray that you and he will have the strength to meet your challenges. Did you get to the TLBC bandsters bash? I was derailed by a snow storm. How about you? Happy baking everyone, and remember we don't have to eat them... they are for OTHER PEOPLE.
