I'll be a member of your Addicts club... can I join???:blushing: I can't start the day without jumping on the damn thing... Phyl: you are too funny today.. I actually registered my height a wee bit shorter so that my BMI would qualify... I was afraid if my BMI was too low they'd deny me the lap band surgery... Oh my we are a weird lot... And just for the record.... I am 5 ft 5 inches....ta-da and 52 just like Janet!

I assume you have NOT been banded yet. You will feel less physical hunger with the band ( once you've proceeded to the fill stage) BUT you will still have HEAD HUNGER... this is the craving voice that we all have inside of us... that's still a challenge even after banding. The BAND is only a tool to HELP with the Weight Loss, you still need to eat High Quality foods, in the right portions, at the right times of day and stick to the Bandster rules for life. When I was dieting on my own, I could always loose weight by starving 800-1000 and loose good numbers but I always felt deprived!!! And like I could eat more... I'd white knuckle it.. but I always put the weight back on and then some. SInce banding, I loose adn keep it off... something that is very different for me... We all loose at different rates so don't compare yourself to others. 1 - 2 lbs per week is about average.. some more, some less. But the trend is down and with it not coming back on you should be able to maintain a healthy weight for life.

You are about normal if you are 6 7 wks post op. Its called BANDSTER HELL, it will resolve as you start getting your fills. Once you start to get a bit of restriction - you 'll feel full sooner rather than later... on a 1/2 cup to 1 cup of food..... Really!! Just being patient thruought the fill process is the challenge. Eating the FIRM protiens is a good idea too... they'll stay with you longer and just remember to EAT slowly, take TINY bites... cut up your meat as if you were a toddler and pace your bites.. It'll all work out. Good advise from the other poster who quoted protien,, 60 grams at least per day - you don't want to lose your hair!

Perhaps this will set a precident in all provinces Hooray:tt2:

:blushing: Janet, I loved this site you linked... its awesome!! I stuck to my plan today, still restricted and ate 1000 cals.

at work right now, s/b working but my px likes it quiet so I am complying...hee,hee I think the BAND does 50% of the work, the physical part but MAN My other 50% , my HEAD needs a lot of effort. I still have to choose the BEST foods for my body , no always the ones that I WANT to eat@!!! but you already know that LOL Karri, 1 mile.. that's phenominal, I couldn't even run a kilometer!!! (5/8ths of a mile for all you Yanks) Have a great day everyone.. Me: still restricted!!! Yeah:w00t:
-
I went Mon Feb 4th and Dr. Y filled me up again... very restricted and I can just barely get in 900 - 1000 cals. WHICH IS AWESOME... but the tried and true will be in a couple of days.... Its usually 3-4 days and then..... NO restriction. I am quite frustrated with all this fill, fill, fill stuff .... especially after all these months. We'll see... Hope your snow fall is not too deep tonight in T.O.! Sweet dreams Green and Donna D:rolleyes2:

Phyl; congrats on the W/L that is awesome... and I am glad you rewarded yourself with new sweats... we need positive reinforcements like that.. Janet, Ruby, Blueyes and everybody else... here's a cute little joke for the day! I ate 1000 cals today... yeah, still resticted so far(?) Menopause Jewellery My husband, being unhappy with my mood swings, bought me a mood ring the other day so he would be able to monitor my moods. We've discovered that when I'm in a good mood, it turns green. When I'm in a bad mood, it leaves a BIG f*&k@#g red mark on his forehead. Maybe next time he'll buy me a diamond. Dumbass

Oh Green, I am so hoping that your depression dosn't last long. Not having your voice would really suck. I am sending your BIG (((hugs))) :tt1: I am confident that yoour ENT Doc will get to the bottom of it. In regard to the asthma... you mentioned that you take inhalers... After you inhale one or both of your puffers do you RINSE out your mouth with Water and SPIT it all out??? This is very important as the inhalers contain steroids, if this medication gets on your vocal cords it can cause hoarseness.. I know this because it happened to my Mom. I also have asthma too. I dont' mean to sound like a 'know it all' but I thought it was worth mentioning. Donna D: How are you doing since your slight de-fill? Are you back on the W/L band wagon??? I had my 2nd fluro fill yest. I have very mixed feelings...

TLBC patient and I need HELP big time!!!!
peaches9 replied to Miele's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I too can suffer from depression at times. What I would suggest is that you contact Jill at the clinic for a sit down regarding menu planning and also get a top up fill... Have you taken a look at the NEW web site??? There is a Psychiatrist now on board and Dr. Yau will answer you specific questions... Good luck toyou -
Just banded 1/17 & eating too much
peaches9 replied to Jeni's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, I can remember being where you are now.... band is healing after surgery and you are getting your "normal" hunger signals back. During the 6 wks post surg. you will probably NOT loose too much weight.. This is a healing time. That being said it does not give you free licence to go eat everything in the house that is junk. Eat PROTIEN first, then vegetables, then if you are still hungry eat whole grains... oatmeal (not the instant junk either) Cook it and add a low cal sweetner.... skim milk. Get lots of yoghurt and cottage cheese in... low fat high Protein options that are easy to digest and FAST to prepare. I know its tempting to eat the Cookies but remember we are going for lifestyle change here.... I am SAYING THIS TO MYSELF AS I TYPE too... -
Hi Gang! Janet, you have a fantastic memory! I've been quiet cause I am still bummed about my band. I drove to Toronto and spent the night with my daughter and went to the Hosp. for another fluro fill this a.m. My doctor says the band is in perfect position around my stomach. Was wide open when I drank the xray material, he FILLED the band and showed me the restriction.... couldn't keep water in so I had to PB that and he unfilled me 1/4 of a cc (ml) I just had soup for lunch/supper and now getting hungry again. I hope this fill holds... the last one held for 5 days and then nothing... sorry to be such a bummer, but I don't feel encouraged. Did anybody see Dr. Oz on Oprah today with Bariatric and Lapband teenager patients??? very interesting

my doctor gave me a rx for TORDOL its available in Canada and was very good for the pain. The pill is SO TINY that it could be swallowed whole... no problemo. Only needed it for 2-3 days anyways

Another LapBand Clinic sprung up in T.O.!
peaches9 replied to peaches9's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
No, I did not speak to him except for the day of surgery - he came into the change room and we discussed any issues and he really re-assured me and my Husband. This was impressive as up until this point my DH was very skeptical of this lapband thing... but after meeting the surg. he was impressed too. Now, I AM one person who has had complications... my band is leaking... I go for another Flouro fill Monday in Toronto. Dr. Yau will check the Fluid level in my band (this is the 2nd ck) he'll refill it... and then we'll book a re-surgery date from there... I just want to get on with this w/Loss journey..... I am tired of waiting ... but, they are looking after me.. so I can't complain.. -
Sorry, I ate the cake.... all by myself
-
Glad you are having some success!!! I know you've been frustrated with the process... I go for my 2nd FLURO fill on Monday, then perhaps another band surgery after that...
-
Hi Loriely; what surgery did you have? You didn't get yolur band re-done did you???
-
Yes, we do have Liquid Tylenol in Canada but jus the KIDS flavored stuff... Grape I think.. Yukky and an adult has to drink 1/2 the bottle so not very economical. My DH was snoring like a bear with a sinus condition last night, I took a sleeping pill, had my ear plugs in and STILL I could hear the S.O.B. so that's why I was on the computer 3 a.m. (my time) Slept in this a.m. and then hubby made it up to me (wink, wink, nudge, nudge) and brought me coffee in bed. I can't stay mad at him long. :cool2: You';ll be proud of me Janet, I actually went to the gym this a.m. and did a great workout.. Felt good too... I've been working way too much and not making myself a priority!!!! Well have a great night everyone

Since banding, we've been told to stay away from Nsaids ie, Asprin, Motrin, Aleve, Naproxen, Celebrex... and use Tylenol If anyone is interested in a NON pill headache remedy I have a few suggestions: 1) Dr. Ho's Muscle Relaxer T.E.N.S. unit, it treats headaches and pain anywhere else in your body. 2) Accupunture 3) Ice Packs placed on the head for 20 minutes, rotated with hot packs, then finish with ICE pack. 4) Homeopathic remedy that you APPLY to your forehead HEADON... you've see those crazy commercials... and I use it carry it in my purse at all times. It works!:hurray:

Congrats on the great loss... good for you.. looks good on ya

HI Janet; I am seeing the surgeon on Feb 4th and I think we will agree on a Surg. date at that point. It seems like an eternity from now... I just have to sit tight and try not to eat the house. No, I will not have to pay again ... it should all be covered. As the band is obviously faulty &/or damaged in some way. He dosn't want to repair it, but place a whole new band in there. But it means starting over with the 4 week post op diet and then the months of fills.... yuk. I feel stalled, but I knew there were risks, complication rates (albeit low) I am just one of the rare statistics I guess LOL  HOpefully, after surg and recovery I may still make my ANNUAL July11th band date and be at my w/l goal by then.... (fingers crossed) Peaches
