    July sleevers please check in..

Sleeved July 25 and down 57 pounds total - still can't eat much of anything and I never know what will make me sick. Also having trouble drinking enough. But, I'm down from a 3X to a 1X and my size 20 pants are hanging on me. Oh, and all my shoes are too big! So, it's been worth it!

September 4th! Tomorrow is the day!

I'm sure y'all will be fine. I wasn't nervous going in, but I regretted it on day one. That was down to not having the right pain control. I had great nurses, and of course a great surgeon, so once the pain issue was resolved I was okay. I think the only reason I wasn't nervous is that I've had so many surgeries. It is definitely worth it. Just remember to take it slow after surgery. Don't be in a rush to eat. It took me awhile to get over that! I'd love to have a cheeseburger, but for now I'm happy with my poached eggs. I'm just 5 weeks out and I've lost 51 pounds. My husband is about 16 months out and has lost 200.

    July sleevers please check in..

I'm not counting calories. I went from maxing out at about 9 ounces all day to managing almost 2 poached eggs at breakfast, whatever I can scrounge up for lunch (can't remember what I had today), and maybe 1/4 cup of puréed chicken salad and a few bites of puréed carrots. If I remember, I have a small snack midway between breakfast and lunch and between lunch and dinner. I don't always remember. I'm mostly eating protein. The only non-protein I'm eating has been carrots and pears.
  7. I live in Houston. Sleeved on July 25 by Dr. Erik Wilson. I'm down 51 pounds so far.

    July sleevers please check in..

Sleeved on July 25. Lost 10 pounds pre-op and 41 post-op. I just started eating poached eggs, and that's the firmest food I'm eating. I'm having a hard time drinking enough because I still tend to drink too fast. I had a brief stall, but once I upped my food intake, I got back to rapid losing.

    Iced and frozen coffee

I don't know about Dunkin Donuts, but I know you can order just about anything at Starbucks "skinny" and caffeine-free. My favourite thing to get is the Chai Latte. I haven't been to Starbucks in months, though. I fixed myself a cup of decaf at work the other day. I think it was too soon because it made me do sick.

    Newbie

Hi Kelly! Welcome! I had my sleeve on July 25. When my husband had his in April of 2012, I said I would lose weight the old fashioned way. Unfortunately, I gained 20 pounds. So, I finally did it. I've lost 51 pounds, including my pre-op loss (10). It's a big decision, and contrary to what people think, it's not easy. But, it is worth it! Good luck on your journey!

    Struggling big time.....

I only had to lose 10 pounds pre-op. My husband had to lose 30. It might be based on how much weight you have to lose overall. I know the pre-op weight loss is important, but it seems like an impossible task. Have you started a liquid diet yet? My husband actually gained weight before he started his liquid diet (2 weeks before surgery). He lost his 30 pounds in 2 weeks. I only had one week of liquid diet. My friend's husband had 3 weeks of liquid diet. I don't know how much he had to lose as this was before I knew them. It's hard, but it's so worth it. My husband is down 200 pounds in 16 months. I'm 5 weeks out, and have lost 51 pounds. Good luck!

    pureed foods

I started with cottage cheese. Last week I added puréed carrots and I even made chicken salad and threw it in the food processor. I've puréed soups as well. The other day I puréed a can of chicken corn chowder. It was pretty good. I'll warn you, and it might depend on the size of your sleeve, go slow. I tried puréed potato soup the first week and thought I was going to die. But, I know my surgeon makes sleeves really small. The nurse I had in the hospital said that he makes his sleeves thumb size while most docs make them banana sized. I've just started eating poached eggs - it's so nice to have a bit of variety.

    Sides for flounder?

Yum! I don't like chipotle (hubby loves it), but I bet it would be good with any of the Laughing Cow cheese. How many wedges did you use?

    Sides for flounder?

I made puréed carrots the other day. I'm still in the soft foods stage (moving slow with food). I just boiled a bag of baby carrots until they were soft (they'd be really good roasted too) and then puréed them with some roasted garlic, a bit of sour cream, a little butter, salt, pepper, and some Parmesan cheese. It was so good, I'll be making it again.
  15. After my husband had his sleeve, he'd eat a few bites and then hand me his plate. I'd finish his food. I think I gained 20 pounds before I woke up. The big thing, though is that my husband lost 200 pounds. I can't afford to lose that much, but I realized that if he could do it I could do it. We have a 13 year old son and want to adopt. I need to be healthier for my son and any future kids.
  16. Wow! I'm midway between an elephant heart and a bale of hay. Interesting!

    puree

For purees, I was told sugar-free pudding, yogurt (f you can find it, Chobani Champions cups are the perfect size), strained cream of chicken soup, cottage cheese, and baby food. Last night, I made chicken salad and puréed it and I made puréed carrots. That's the thickest food I've had. I'm 4 weeks out. I should be on soft foods but I have had trouble with foods making me sick. Dinner last night was great. My best advice is go slow. Try one new thing a day. That way, if something doesn't agree with you, you will know what it was.

    I just lied!

I've only told a few people at work, and they all know it was not to be shared. Yet, somehow everyone knows. It's so irritating. And, to top it off, people are asking other people how much I've lost. It's none of their business. I told one person to respond "I don't know. How much have you gained?" Tacky, I know...

    July 2013 Sleevers

Good to meet you! I'm frustrated but trying to come to terms with my new normal. July 26, I decided that I had made a huge mistake. I'm passed that feeling now.

    July 2013 Sleevers

Hi all, I got my sleeve on July 25. I'm new to this forum - just heard about it from an old friend. My husband got his sleeve in 2012 and has lost 200 pounds. Is anyone else struggling with food? I know I'm not getting 64 ounces of Fluid. God knows I try but I don't seem to have room! Food... well, food is such a struggle. Just about everything makes me so sick. Fortunately, I haven't vomited (my post op nurse has me terrified of vomiting), but I am so sick of the constant diarrhea. The thickest thing I've been able to eat is cottage cheese. I used to love cottage cheese. I'm so over it now. I know that it will be worth it. I'm already down 46 pounds, but my husband never had this much trouble. I guess I just want to know that I'm not alone in this. Nobody really knows what it's like unless they've been through it. Sorry for the long post - I think I'm just so happy to have found a place to talk to people who understand. Cheers, Lulu
