Sleeved July 25 and down 57 pounds total - still can't eat much of anything and I never know what will make me sick. Also having trouble drinking enough. But, I'm down from a 3X to a 1X and my size 20 pants are hanging on me. Oh, and all my shoes are too big! So, it's been worth it! -

I'm sure y'all will be fine. I wasn't nervous going in, but I regretted it on day one. That was down to not having the right pain control. I had great nurses, and of course a great surgeon, so once the pain issue was resolved I was okay. I think the only reason I wasn't nervous is that I've had so many surgeries. It is definitely worth it. Just remember to take it slow after surgery. Don't be in a rush to eat. It took me awhile to get over that! I'd love to have a cheeseburger, but for now I'm happy with my poached eggs. I'm just 5 weeks out and I've lost 51 pounds. My husband is about 16 months out and has lost 200. -

I'm not counting calories. I went from maxing out at about 9 ounces all day to managing almost 2 poached eggs at breakfast, whatever I can scrounge up for lunch (can't remember what I had today), and maybe 1/4 cup of puréed chicken salad and a few bites of puréed carrots. If I remember, I have a small snack midway between breakfast and lunch and between lunch and dinner. I don't always remember. I'm mostly eating protein. The only non-protein I'm eating has been carrots and pears. -

Sleeved on July 25. Lost 10 pounds pre-op and 41 post-op. I just started eating poached eggs, and that's the firmest food I'm eating. I'm having a hard time drinking enough because I still tend to drink too fast. I had a brief stall, but once I upped my food intake, I got back to rapid losing. -
I don't know about Dunkin Donuts, but I know you can order just about anything at Starbucks "skinny" and caffeine-free. My favourite thing to get is the Chai Latte. I haven't been to Starbucks in months, though. I fixed myself a cup of decaf at work the other day. I think it was too soon because it made me do sick.

Hi Kelly! Welcome! I had my sleeve on July 25. When my husband had his in April of 2012, I said I would lose weight the old fashioned way. Unfortunately, I gained 20 pounds. So, I finally did it. I've lost 51 pounds, including my pre-op loss (10). It's a big decision, and contrary to what people think, it's not easy. But, it is worth it! Good luck on your journey!

Struggling big time.....

I only had to lose 10 pounds pre-op. My husband had to lose 30. It might be based on how much weight you have to lose overall. I know the pre-op weight loss is important, but it seems like an impossible task. Have you started a liquid diet yet? My husband actually gained weight before he started his liquid diet (2 weeks before surgery). He lost his 30 pounds in 2 weeks. I only had one week of liquid diet. My friend's husband had 3 weeks of liquid diet. I don't know how much he had to lose as this was before I knew them. It's hard, but it's so worth it. My husband is down 200 pounds in 16 months. I'm 5 weeks out, and have lost 51 pounds. Good luck! -
I started with cottage cheese. Last week I added puréed carrots and I even made chicken salad and threw it in the food processor. I've puréed soups as well. The other day I puréed a can of chicken corn chowder. It was pretty good. I'll warn you, and it might depend on the size of your sleeve, go slow. I tried puréed potato soup the first week and thought I was going to die. But, I know my surgeon makes sleeves really small. The nurse I had in the hospital said that he makes his sleeves thumb size while most docs make them banana sized. I've just started eating poached eggs - it's so nice to have a bit of variety.

Yum! I don't like chipotle (hubby loves it), but I bet it would be good with any of the Laughing Cow cheese. How many wedges did you use?
