    February 2019 weight loss buds

I’ll be 56 when I have my surgery (my birthday is next week, 1/29) and I know the skin will be horrific, but I’m tackling one issue at a time😁 I figure I sure don’t look good naked now so I’m not losing anything by looking bad naked then, lol.

My program sounds about the same as yours. I start next Monday so I’ll be hoping for some tips😁

    February 2019 weight loss buds

Today is day 3 of my self imposed low carb Atkins style diet. I go in to see my PCP next Thursday the 24th for surgery clearance and want to get these holiday pounds off before they’re recorded somewhere, lol. Plus I’m due to start my 2 week all liquid diet on the 28th and figure I’ll do much better if I’m already in ketosis😁 I’m just going to have to get stern with myself those days between the 24th and 28th and not let myself talk me into food funerals.

    30g protein bars

Where do you buy the ONE bars?

    January surgeries?!

Yeah, I’m not a big “Bella” fan either. I like the vanilla though because I can add plain unsweetened cocoa to make chocolate or PB2 to make peanut butter. I’ve also been known in the past to add a tsp of sf banana or cheesecake pudding mix to flavor it, but that does add a few carbs.

    January surgeries?!

I love Bariatric Eating Inspire as well, but I like the vanilla. I also like the PB cookie, the butter mint, cafe amore, not the Mexican Chocolate vegetable protein based one though. I recently bought their unflavored one but haven’t tried it yet.

So you guys will start your liquid diet in just over a week?

Sounds like you’ve got s good variety. When do you start? Bariatric Eating sells a powder that’s tastes great, but you can only buy it from their site. The brand name is Inspire. They have lots of flavors and all of the ones I’ve tried have been excellent. They also sell a bone broth one they call beef stroganoff that has 15g of protein as well. They have other soups but the carbs are too high on those, I never bought them.

    February 2019 weight loss buds

Yep! I think that's us! (I only found this place yesterday, I'm still figuring things out, too Welcome! Yes! Me too. I was kind of afraid I could lose too much before surgery if I do all liquid for the whole month, which is another reason to do low carb, but I just need to get myself mentally under control.

Smedae, I think most plans don’t allow pudding on the liquid phase, but be sure to check with your program and see where it falls in their guidelines. Mine plan doesn’t allow it in the mushy/soft phase either, too much starch.

    February 2019 weight loss buds

I kind of keep trying to tell myself “don’t you want pizza or donuts or whatever one last time”, but then I think dang, the list never ends, lol, plus I already had them the last time...lol

    February 2019 weight loss buds

I’m waiting on an email from my program director with all the dates for labs, primary care clear visit, preop and start dates for my 2 week liquid diet. I’m going to go ahead and go full on Atkins style low carb Monday though until my liquid diet because I think it’ll make the transition easier. I think I’d starve going from a regular diet to all liquids overnight, lol. They require 2 weeks of only liquids....brutal, lol. Surgery is Feb 12😁

    January surgeries?!

CeeCee I was also moved out of the Jan crew after my Jan 22 surgery was postponed to Feb 12th so I can have an endoscopy done first. I’ll still be following all your progress though💕

    February 2019 weight loss buds

I was scheduled for Jan, but Dr wants an endoscopy since I’m a revision from sleeve to rny so now my surgery will be Feb 12th. I will also have a hiatal hernia repaired as well as my gallbladder removed at the same time.
  17. Premiere is good ready made, Quest is a good powder to pick up at a store, tastes pretty darn good, but if I am prepared enough to order online the very best I’ve tasted is Inspire Protein from BariatricPal. They have no gross whey taste and lots of good flavors.

    January surgeries?!

I’m scheduled for the 22nd, but now my surgeon has decided he wants an endoscopy first and that dr can’t get me in before that. I’m going to have to hope for a cancellation to be able to keep my surgery date. I hate all this not knowing!

    Jan 2019 bypass buddies

I’m scheduled for RNY January 22. They’re also fixing a hiatal hernia and removing my gallbladder. I’m so excited and scared at the same time!

    doing something wrong?

I was sleeved 10/24. I've been eating 2oz of puréed chicken (I'm in the puréed stage) and get full, but I get hungry in an hour or so. I know we can eat larger portions if liquidy type foods without getting full as fast and they pass through faster.

    October 2013 Sleevers Roll call!

Sleeves 10/24 HW 290 SW 229 CW 220 I'm doing great, no trouble with getting in my Protein and my fluids. I'm using Premier Protein chocolate. I usually pour it in my shaker bottle, add 4-6 oz of Water and a scoop of Protein Powder so it then has 55 grams of protein and I drink half in the morning, half in the afternoon. My nurse advanced me to puréed on Thursday and now I feel like I'm starving all the time. I didn't have hunger before on liquids.

4 days post op and hungry

I'm 4 days post op and I don't feel hunger, but I have met my fluid and protein goals. I've read others say they are hungry on liquids, but after they've moved on to mushies, they're ok. See if getting in all your protein helps.

    OMG!

I also had surgery the 24th and came home the 25th. I have that feeling in my upper stomach/. Chest area, kind of "fullness". Could be gas, I just figured its from the swelling and trying to get liquids in. Yes, I'm afraid of everything, lol. I had a pill I needed to resume taking after surgery and even though my dr said I'd be fine, I was scared to death. I finally took it and was fine. My nurse told me I could take Tylenol capsules, but when I did, I still cut them in half first just to make sure, lol. I'm managing to get my liquids and Proteins in so far, although I feel like its a full time job. Still swollen and look 8 months pregnant, but the scale showed a 3 lb loss today, so hopefully the extra Fluid is leaving.
