The slime is actually the product our bodies produce during the natural process of peristalsis, which is the action of the esophagus to aid in digestion of food. Fun stuff, huh!

OMG I didn't die! Thank you Jesus!

Hey Kathy....So glad to see you posting again. I thought of you everyday that you were gone hoping all went well. I finished my last presurgical class at U-Mass and my chart is on its way to the surgeon and my ins. co. I hope to have a date soon. Keep your chin up....The only thing we want is our weight to be down. Robyn -
Help!!! I am getting so nervous about being able to do all of this....I am a grazer of sorts. Doing much better with the help of U-Mass, but food does still call my name. Most days I am in control. I have never been a large amount of food eater, more a slow drip sort of eater. Every day I want to try just a liquid diet of sorts so as to prepare but am unable to stay with it or even begin. Am I a failure or what? I have been able to lose 14 pounds recently and would like to lose 20 more before banding in June(hopefully). I guess I am asking all you grazers if the band has helped you.

I am also having my surgery at U=Mass and I think they do a great job preparing you...giving you the foundations for a successfull post surgery weight loss..They also have post surgical groups and lots of help is given

This post sure gave me and my family a good laugh before dinner and certainly helped dinner conversation!!(NOT!!). the conversation quickly went "down the drain" with 2 boys 14, and 16 at the table. Oh well.....Thats family life. Hopefull

Hi Flower....At U-Mass in Worcester the surgery requires an overnite stay. I asked this specifically of the receptionist at the weight center. Hopefull

I have a question.....How do you change the amounts of weight lost each time? Thanks...Hopefull

I have not been banded yet, but I am close and I asked the same question. I was told there would be a pressure in your lower esophagus when you are full. I was told not to ingnore that as another bite might make me too full.

Thanks to all of you for your well wishes. I ended up with a closed head trauma, which is similar to a concussion I understand. I am a little foggy with a major headache off and on and some dizziness. I should be better soon. Thanks again. Hopfull

I hate this snow. Central Mass is having the worst winter in terms of snow. I just got in a car accident. I was driving carefully and hit a patch of ice under slush and snow and ended up across the street in some mans driveway. I took down the guide wires to his house and managed to mangle the driver side front end, shift the hood, damage the underside as fluid was leaking and probably something else. My son (16) was in the front and gallantly reached out to protect me as we were spinnning. (I shed a tear thinking about this because as any parent of teens know things can get rocky and its nice to know they will be there for you when needed). My daughter age 10 was in the back and was petrified. Two police cars come, the fire truck, ambulance, and tow truck. Thank God we were all right. The air bags did not deploy as we didn't really hit anything. I drive a Ford Expidition. Thank God because I think it may have been different if it were a small car. I am also luck and blessed that we did not roll over. Things would have been very different then to. God was driving with us. I am not looking for sympathy, just a letting go of this and hopefully a good nites sleep after a long hot bath and a glass of wine. (Not yet Banded).

Now that it is 3 hours later...back aches starts....joint pain..Its amazing how easy it is to bang up a 45 year old body. My husband is more upset about what could have happened and thank god it didnt. He says that where the heavy guide wire hit the car was 2 inches from the window. It may have smashed the window and cut your neck or arm or arm off and whatever. He was so upset and he was very supportive and nurturing about thank heavens he didn't lose me to a car accident. Ugh.....I started to cry. I know this too shall pass but it sure in heck makes for a bad day.

I have facial hair under my chin and a moustache which I can't stand and I am extremely fair and blonde. UGH!.....I use a creme for facial hair removal. Sometimes if I leave it on too long I will burn my skin.

What can you do when you feel that feeling. Waiting to be banded....

Bright...I am so happy for you...It is great that you have that confidence I can't "weight" to have back. You go girl! P.S.Hey Kathy....What not to wear is one of my favorite "taking a break" shows. My 11 year old daughter and I watch it together sometimes. Where do they get some of these people?
-
Congrats!! to both Nicole and Patty. I am still waiting to be banded. It's great to read that the surgery seems to be easy enough. All the postings have been so helpful to me and to assuring my husband that I am doing the right thing for myself. Thanks to all of you. Does anyone ever go into the chat room?

Does your HUSBAND/ WIFE know your weight????
hopefull replied to Belle joufflue une's topic in The Lounge
My weight has been closely gaurded although my husband would never even think of asking me. He is not concerned about the number, only in how I feel. My weight does not affect his feelings for me. "What a guy"! My weight, I feel, has held us back as a couple many times. For example....on a recent cruise I would not go to the hottub as I was embarrassed in front of the other people. He went by himself. Many times he would go in a pool by himself or on a carnival ride as I was embarrassed or afraid of not fitting in a seat, etc... These are some of the reasons I want to be banded, among many. Waiting to be banded, Robyn Starting weight 310 Weight now...two-dles to the 3's-288lbs Goal- 150 -
I'm reading all these posts and I can't believe how honest and willing to share with all of us those things that have deeply hurt us in the past. Some of these hurts I can't even speak about yet. I do hope at some point I am able to accept and let go. I was never really picked on to my face but there was always on comment by people that bothered me. They have always told me "You have such a pretty face" as if that was all there was to me. I always wished as a teenager that I could be "not so pretty". I would glady trade my size 18 body(at that time) for a few pimples and a thin body. Now, with my banding in the near future..I'm not so sure:hurt

Lacy, I read in your profile you are from Auburn. I am from Dudley...just down the road. I am not quite at the surgery stage yet....possibly in April or May. I am being banded at U-Mass. Good Luck to you and I'll be thinking of you.

reply to fear of failure....I too have some of the same fears but coming to this site, participating in the pre-banding requirements at U-mass and positive thoughts, I feel I can really do this. A couple months to go....Robyn

My surgery is not yet scheduled. My next step in this journey is to meet for a follow-up with the nutritionist and the behavior medicine doc. Hopefully by June I will have my surgery. "Weighting" is the hard part, but U-Mass does keep you busy and on task. I just e-mailed the group from U-mass that I am on track with to join us. Robyn

Hi..I'm from the Worcester Area. I'm going thru U-Mass. It takes about 9 months of prep work from your first vist to having the banding done. I started in November. I've lost 15 lbs just going thru the process. I'm really looking forward to feeling better and looking better. Would love to talk with you all.
