Dear Goddardao....Do not go with the BAND.. I had one since 2007 only lost 60lbs. than at a stands still.. food gets stuck.. than you have to stop eating.. your food gets cold. than you have to try again later.... It's a pain.. My husband was told he had Alzheimers last year. So now i'm a caretaker.. with all the issues i'm dealing with...I've gained 15lbs back. I went to see my surgeon.. and we decided to go with the Sleeve. On wed Oct 9th we will be taking my Band out.. than in Jan 2014 I will get the sleeve done... My Doctor wants new tissue to grow before having to go in a stapple old tissue. So he got approval for both surgeries before taking the band out....Good luck... But I would go with the Sleeve. Go on the forum here on all who had the band.. and read what they have been writing.. that will help you make up your mind....Sleeve is so much better..Look at the Gov of NJ he had it 6 months ago and still looks no better.. Dear Jessicaanders Can you tell me ? How are the rules different. I know about the no drinking with meals.. How long after you were sleeved did you remain on liquids? How did you do not gaining weight when the band was out.. and waiting to be sleeved? So is it the same...Just watching the protein? JewelJ

OMG! tHANKS for writing...Kyrasma.. why did you have to wait so long for the doctor to do the sleeve? I was told about the scar tissue... That is why it is better to wait to do the sleeve.. He wants to work with good tissue to staple the sleeve. Wanting no problems.... Please tell me why you had to wait so long. My Doc wrote a letter to the Ins Co. for Both Surgeries.. wanted both approved before he took the band out... What happened with you? I will be thinking of you tomorrow.. Please keep me posted on how it went... I will friend you...so we can keep in touch....Be well my Friend...

Dear Freespirit63 Did you have your Band Removed..than wait 3 months to have the Sleeve done? This is what I have to do. I"m having my Band Removed on Oct 9th this wed. and i'm scared. Can someone just write me and tell me this surgery went all right for them. I'm getting crazy thinking that something will happen like the band will be attached to my organs and I will have to stay in the hospital for over a week. Please tell me that will not happen. I have had this Band since 2007 so It has been with me a long time. As this get's closer I get nuts. Than I have the Holidays to contend with , and not gaining weight. My Sleeve will not be done untill JAN..2014 HELP!!!! JewelJ

I hope I can get some ideas here. I'm having my Band removed on Oct 9th. I"m not getting my Sleeve done until Jan "week 1". So I don't want to gain weight, and thought I would start getting into the Diet that I would follow Post Sleeve... Where do I find this information. I've been looking into getting something that will make a "smoothie".. for the mornings.. so I can add protein.. and fruit. Any Ideas for any of this...or where I can see a DIET written.. for pre-surgery.. and post-surgery??? thanks to you all JewelJ

It sound Great Roo... so you can give me an Idea of what you would eat in a day..Breakfast, lunch, dinner.. do you know how many calories you are taking in a day? When is your surgery? I'm having my band removed Oct 9th.. I will get sleeved in Jan.. hoping the first week.. If you could let me know that would be great. I just picked up "quaker" SOFT BAKED BARS... at bj's.. Calories are 140 5gr of fiber, 6 grams protein... A box of 24. was $9.00 but at the door they had a $2.00 coupon..so i paid 7.00 dollars.. I thought it was a good snack..because of the fiber and protein.. What do you think..??

Well I have to tell you all. I had the Band surgery and told some people. My Family and few friends. I had stares at parties, "what is she eating?" Why is she not losing more weight? Why are you doing this to yourself? Can't you do it the NATURAL WAY, said a person who is 117lbs. So on Oct 9th i'm having my Band taken out. Than the first week in Jan I will have the Sleeve done. The only people who know are my husband and my 3 children. I'm not ashamed at all... I just do not want the questions, and people who can't mind their own business in my face. JewelJ

Hello everyone I have been told by my Doctor that he would only do my surgery in two surgeries. 3 months apart. Reason, waiting for good tissue to grow. He said that after that Band has been in there tissue has been scared and when you take it out you do not want to staple bad tissue and have problems later. So i'm reading where some have had it this way and some have not and did fine. What I would like to know. DID ANYONE HAVE A PROBLEM AFTER HAVING BOTH SURGERIES TOGETHER? If so what kind of problem? Dear former_vbg I have not had surgery yet. I am having a band removed in Oct. I prob will not get a Sleeve done till Jan. I was speaking of another person I knew that had dropped over 75 lbs but has put back on 40lbs.. so it scared me. But being on the band, I do know you have to eat good solid protein if you want to feel full in between meals...So you are not looking for something else. you need to have things last...not just wash through Good luck to you JewelJ

HI! EMMA, I had a friend that had the sleeve done 14 months ago.. she lost 79lbs.. since than she has put back on 40lbs... How does this happen.. I mean when your stomach is so small.. It has to be painful to put too much in your tummy... is it??? JewelJ

Well Wendy, I'm right behind you.. I have to have my Band removed on Oct 9th..I than need to wait 3 months than have the Sleeve done. Prob will have it done in Jan.. So we will be pretty close together.. Don't be so hard on yourself.. People like you for YOU,, not for what you look like.. I wish you well my Friend... JewelJ
