  1. I got my surgery date today. It's October 10th! It all just got so real for me. I'm having a hard time not to just quit my job and get everything ready! I am the kind of person who loves to have the furniture rearranged once a month. So I'm wanting to set up my little area, stock my house, and everything. What did you all do before surgery to prepare?
  2. After going through 5 months of my 7 month insurance diet, I found out that they weren't going to cover it even if I appealed. So I was very upset. 6 months later I found myself really sick and my doctor suggested the sleeve again. So I found out about private pay. I didn't want to go to Mexico because I have my heart set on a surgeon here, so I needed to come up with 15,000 dollars! (And let's just say that's not something easy to come by for me) after selling most of my possessions, getting support from family, and the prayers of many people, I find myself needing just a little more... but I have set a deadline for myself. I'm so confident in raising this money that my pre-op appointment is October 2nd, which will put my surgery during the 2nd week of october!!!! I just KNOW its going to be worth it. But i have to get that money In. Does anyone have any creative ideas to get that last few thousand to cover it?

    Time to start nesting! Help!

A recliner is a great idea!!!!! I have one in my den, so I think that will be where I set up camp for the first few days!!! I know the heating pad helps with gas pains, did you ever switch out with ice? Or is that more of an incision thing?
  8. It seems like every person that I know that has had complications with bariatric surgery, didn't eat properly. They cheated, and then they complained. I know there are always risks in wls, but seriously. If I m very sure to always follow my surgeons guidelines and I work out and make sure to be good, will I still have the chance of gaining back? Will I still get really sick? I have surgery in approximately 3 weeks and the questions are starting to come to mind.

What happens if i follow all the rules?

Thank you all so much! I know that it's going to be hard because I am so used to eating what I want, even if I diet. I never can buckle down and tell myself no. So I am hoping that finally after such a drastic measure, that I will actually say no. And learn self control. I am hoping I'm one of the success stories. I'm so glad I found this forum!

That's so wonderful!!!! Wow!!! So this REALLY does work, lol. I guess I'm just doubting.

Things I will NOT miss about being fat.

I won't miss the embarrassing airplane rides. I finally won't have to get the flight attendant to secretly slip me a seatbelt extender anymore and I won't have to see that pity look on her face. I also will not miss people assuming that all I want to do when we hang out is eat. I won't miss that feeling of shame when I'm in public. I won't miss anything. I'm so ready for this.

Surgeon does not take care credit, nor can I get anything from 401K... Lol

    300's

This is very encouraging! I am at 360 pre-op so I need to loose a lot!!!!

    High BMI

Has anyone came down from a BMI of 50 or higher? What's your BMI now?
  16. readyforchange101013

    High BMI

I can't wait to be in the "normal" range. That's my true goal. To not be morbidly obese, obese, or even overweight. But normal. I have to believe it's possible!!!

    Pre- pre-op diet

I'm hoping to get a surgery date in October or early November. I would really like to try to start loosing now, but I've been unsuccessful. It's just been difficult. Every time I try to diet or even just eat super healthy, I fail and gain more weight. Does anyone have any suggestions of what to do before surgery, besides the obvious "diet and exercise" I know that... But how should I go about it?

    Pre- pre-op diet

Thank you all so much! This is so helpful!!! I just don't want to be stressed out when surgery time comes!!!

    Pre- pre-op diet

That's awesome! My doctor said I didn't need a psych eval since I'm private pay, but I'm sure it couldn't hurt. Lol. But I know how that is to feel so ready. October is so close, yet it seems like it's a lifetime away! And so high protein/ low carb is the way to go?

Missionary hoping to be sleeved soon!

I know this was years ago, but I am into missions and I was wondering about how it is for you now. I'm pre-op and I'm ready to be able to do what I'm supposed to be doing with no restrictions!

    High BMI

That's so awesome! I'm really excited about having surgery! I'm private pay so I can't have the surgery until I get all of my money but I'm shooting for October, and I'm so ready! My bmi is a 52 and I'm hoping it comes down drastically!
