I'm in for 30 hours of exercise this month! I'm almost 2 months out and hoping to get cleared at my appointment next week to do any exercises (so far only officially cleared for walking).

I can sometimes handle muscle milk light. Mostly (now post op) I am drinking Isopure. Not a lot of calories, but good protein and not terrible. The flavors that are the red/purple/mango&peach are the ones I can drink. I add water to make them less sweet. They are online & at GNC.

Cold feet the day before!
chivsg replied to Vertical's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't sleep the night before, I cried as they wheeled me down the hall to the OR. 5 weeks out. Worth it. -
Good points about the dehydration. I know I am not getting in enough, though with each day (3 weeks today) it is easier to get plain water in larger amounts. And kudos on being creative with your pureed foods! I never thought to combine all that. Would have been more appealing

21 days out today and I'm sore in a different way with the passing time. It's better for sure but "normal?" Not yet, though there are moments I'll forget (then usually bend fast and be quickly reminded)

Hitting my first milestone!
chivsg commented on natmo2431's blog entry in Hitting my first milestone!
Besides weight goals, I made a few additional -- sit in the middle seat of a plane without feeling horrible about it, cross my legs, also a 5k. -
I'm 3 weeks out and I have some of the "glue" they used on the incisions still, but it is starting to really fall away, and I pulled a little of it off. The incisions are still red and raised looking.

I'm 2 weeks and 4 days out. I didn't lose very much weight on the pre-op diet. I think perhaps only a pound or 2. I don't know why, it was pretty frustrating and I found myself freaking out that this wouldn't work, etc. However, at the one week postop visit I had lost 12lbs total since the preop 2 weeks prior, and I think it's even more now. I'm not really weighing myself because of the difference of scales, etc, and I really don't want to be obsessed. So, my clothes still fit, but they do fit better. And I am comfortably in the smaller of the 2 sized scrubs I went between at work, which was awesome to realize. A few people have noticed but I don't look dramatically different. My only complaint is a pretty decent pain near the incision they "did the most work through." It is kind of like a burning knife pain, and it's not all the time, but certainly with some bending, rolling over, etc. I'm having trouble sleeping on my side or stomach, which is awful and killing my sleep. Food & Exercise: I have been walking mostly every day between 2-3 miles, sometimes a little more. I was off work for the first 2 weeks which made it way easier. Currently I am anxiously awaiting Tuesday, when I get to move to the soft foods portion of the diet. I, who gagged thinking of pureed foods, have thrown 2 oz chicken breast in the magic bullet and added to soup. Having trouble getting in all the fluids/protein I'm supposed to. I was doing better when I was drinking the Isopure Green/Black teas, then I read them carefully and realized that I was not allowed! They have caffiene! The other flavors are okay, but so sweet. I add water to them and then it takes forever to drink. Overall, no regrets. I had worked on losing weight since January 2012 and never did it, despite a good effort. Once this pain is gone, I will be a happy camper, protein shakes and all.

I am producing metal objects

Your doctor should have a 24 hour number -- usually just the office number will direct you to the answering service. Do not wait until Monday. It may (and probably is) not a problem, but call now! sincerely, a nurse who would be freaked out seeing that -
I hope that in a year I look at this post and laugh at nervousness and say to myself, "that was the smartest thing I have ever done." I am a few days out. Have not lost weight on the pre-op diet, though there is the issue of scale discrepancy and possible monthly water weight gain. Reading the messages from everyone else that far out, I have started to tell myself I don't want the words "I need to work on my protein" or "I should be exercising more" happen. I'm 35, work full time. Just had a big breakup (he didn't want kids -- thanks for telling me now!), financially trying to get it together for the last 15 years, and I am ready for a change. Yikes!

Hi all, I am going in for surgery on Tuesday 9/3. I have been doing the pre-op diet faithfully (my only cheat was 1/2 caf coffee and 1/4 of a pickle spear) but I don't think I have lost weight on this diet, which is terrifying. Has anyone else not really lost prior to surgery? There was a little line on the informed consent I signed that said "some people may not lose any weight and some may lose more than 100% of excess weight" and that keeps playing in my head. I mean, this is going to work, right?!
