I am having the same problem. Socializing over a meal used to be one of my faves. It can be a bit frustrating taking a couple of bites and realizing that you need to take a doggie bag when everyone else is just getting started.

Hi August Sleevers! I haven't posted in a few weeks. Just checking in to see how everyone's doing and to update you all on my progress. I was sleeved on 8/21and I have lost a total of 29 lbs. so far. Although I feel great, I'm a little bummed that I have not lost more. I went in for my six week check up and the nurse said that my weight loss was kinda on the slow side. That was discouraging. Anyway, my bariatric doc said not to worry it will start coming off. I had an appointment with a metabolic doc around the same time and I have to get a ton of tests and then go back so that he can check all of my levels and my metabolism. All in all I'm happy I got the surgery. I would like to have lost more but slow and steady wins the race.

August Sleevers...how are you doing? Any friends near Monterey?

Bookworm, Congrats! Good for you. I was looking at your ticker and you are nearly halfway there. I am also experiencing the little unexpected joys along this journey such as easily taking three flights of stairs without breaking a sweat. I'm starting to see some body definition too and the shoe thing is awesome isn't it? -
Hi everyone. I just joined to day and wanted to introduce myself. I was sleeved on 8/21. I'm doing well and down 22 lbs. I'm looking forward to sharing my experience with you all.

When did you have your surgery? You are doing great. I'm afraid my body may be in starvation mode as can't seem to get in that many calories without becoming too full. I can't tolerate any meats and most veggies yet. I'm not missing the red meats because I only ate fish and rarely poultry before being sleeved. However, I do miss my veggies.

Yes, I'm always tired and if I try to do too much forget about it. It's hard to stay hydrated with this extreme sweating.

Neal, congrats on your 24 lbs weight loss. My weight stalled for 5 days and then on day six, I dropped 2.5 pounds out of the blue. It may sound crazy but I always think about my weight loss in terms of potatoes. 2 and a half bags of 10 lbs potatoes equal about 24lbs. That's a lot of potatoes. I had my surgery on 8/21 and besides a little indigestion, I feel like I didn't have surgery either. I wonder if a sleeved stomach can get stretched out with liquid because there doesn't seem to be any liquid limits. I thought it was going to be much worst. I feared that I was going to be ogling over everyone else food, that I was going to be forced to take teensy weensy little baby bites and sips and that I'd never be satisfied. However, none of that has happened. I've heard some horror stories, but this is one of the best decisions I've made in my life. I didn't know it would be this easy.

I've always been a sweater, but lately I've been drenched in sweat. Eww. Nights are the worst. My doc says the surgery sometimes screw up hormones. He told me to make an appointment with the metabolic doc to check my thyroid and blood levels.

They say on average it takes about 15 lbs to drop a dress/pants size. Has anyone been shopping for new clothes yet? Right now, my pants are only slightly looser, I can't wait to start shopping for new clothes though.

Welcome Crystal, I'm glad you found us. I am so thankful for this forum. It is refreshing to share the ups and downs (downs as in pounds *pun intended*) of this journey with others who are experiencing the same thing.

I was thinking the same thing. Congrats!

Hi fellow August Sleevers. I was sleeved on August 21st. (2 weeks out). So far I am thrilled that I made this decision. Sometimes though, I get a couple of hunger pains during the day. I never felt those prior to the surgery. It's like my body is reminding me to eat. Before, I just ate to eat. I guess my body never got the chance to tell me before. Currently, I am trying to get down a few more calories. Anybody else experiencing this phenomenon called the feeling of hunger? LOL

Hi Jules, not to be too TMI, but have you had a good BM lately? My weight stayed the same for several days, I felt sluggish because I hadn't had a decent BM. My doc told me to take some milk of magnesia. It worked. Afterwards, I have much more energy and I've been losing steadily.
-
Funny thing is, prior to surgery I never liked ice or anything too cold for that matter. I always went with room temp liquids. However, now ice has become one of my favorites. I am in love with the sugar free tropical flavored popsicle. Yum. Feel better!

I was sleeved on 8/21. After 8 days of no BMs, I called my doc about it and he told me to take some milk or magnesia. He said it would push the waste right out of me. I brought some expecting for it to work over night. It worked in less that 30 mins and I dropped 3 lbs to boot (TMI).

Hi all, had my surgery on August 21, 2013, I swear I feel 90% pre surgery. I thought it would be rough, but so far smooth sailing. Except for occasional gas in my gut and throat, and the minor scars on my tummy, I really feel like I didn't have surgery.

I'm 5'6, my initial goal is 199 However, my ultimate goal is between 170 and 180. I think we all carry our weight differently. I haven't seen 150 on my scale since 9th grade, I can't even fathom myself at 150 now. I am preparing myself mentally just in case I go under goal.

Sex after 9th day of surgery!

After reading this thread, thoughts of Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get It On" are playing in my head. LOL, I think I'll go now, I need to play that song...nighty night folks hehe. BTW, Justinh125, I had my surgery on the same day as you. -

Hi everyone. This is my first post. I was sleeved on August 21, 2013. I'm still on the stage one clear liquid diet, but I am really anticipating the stage two full liquid diet. I've been following my fluid and protein intake and although I don't feel hungry or have cravings, I seem to be feeling a little weak. Can't wait until I can wrap my lips around a smoothie or some yogurt. LOL
