I am having second thoughts...Nervous!
A_ReNUDE_me replied to Lookingtobethin's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm also wondering why no cruises? Im pre op as well, but I hear ppl actually enjoy cruising more after they are completely recovered, because food is not the only reason ppl cruise. Heard the shows, excursions& dancing go in for hours when ur not tied to the buffet table. Either way I have similar fears, but am so glad this site is hear to allow me to know I'm not alone. Wishing you all the best with your upcoming surgery -
Lightweights in the house! Any more people with less to lose/less BMI's?
A_ReNUDE_me replied to MumtazG38's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 5'3" 215 and preop, anticipation of a Nov 2013 surgery date. My bmi is 38 ish and I have type2 diabetes, hbp and high cholesterol. So I'm very interested in hearing the journey of those who had a starting weight/ height similar to mine. Thanks 2 all for sharing -
I'm pre op, but have decided to only tell my boyfriend, my best friend & my 22yo daughter. No coworkers, or other family. I will tell my mom, afterwards, do I font have to hear her mouth. She loves me,but won't understand...so I'm telling her I have to have a hernia surgery and will tell her the truth after I am recovered. Sounds horrible, but my mom won't understand...

I'm pre op just looking at all situations that could possibly arise. Me & my boyfriend of 4 years have our share of issues, but nothing so serious that would make me consider leaving. We both are overweight & enjoy food...Now that I am moving forward with this surgery I am nervous about the possibility that we will not have our common link. It is my hope that my journey will encourage him to make some small changes, but do not expect him to have the surgery. This man came into my life and we connected on such a deeper level, I just worry that so much of it was based on the fact that we are both overweight. I hope this doesn't sound horrible, because I love him dearly, just wondering if it had had a negative impact on other relationships.

Praying you had a successful surgery and that you will have a speedyc recovery.. I am pre op (tentative Dec date) & type2 insulin dependant w/ high Blood Pressure, so I would love to keep up with your progess. -
I have received my insurance approval..for some reason I thought that everything would magically fall into place, but I am starting to get fearful & overwhelmed. Anyone got any good advice for staying calm and not over thinking the process? I watch YouTube videos and get either very excited or very afraid, but I need to prepare myself as I am a analytical person who likes fact...my MD office has several tests, visits set up for me as I begin this journey to my surgery date. But I want to interact with those REAL HONEST PEOPLE who have blazed this trail before me and those who are embarking upon it at the same time...SO WHO'S GOT HELP?

Did anyone else have a starting weight of approximately 215/ 5' 3" w/ BMI of 38? where did ur weight level off?
A_ReNUDE_me replied to A_ReNUDE_me's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
This fear comes from the fact that I only really need to lose 75 lbs to be at a very healthy weight. My concerns are that do mny people lose 60-70lbs in thier 1st 6months so I fear before I get to a place where I have learned to eat again (and learn what my sleeve can/cannot handle), that I will melt away. I know it sounds silly, but Im just now sure I m heavy enough. Now on the flip side, because of all ny health issues,it is worth it for those issues alone. Maybe my fears ate unfounded, but I'm scared non the less -
I'm scared! Am I making the right decision?!?!
A_ReNUDE_me replied to LeahJade's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
This post really hit home to me.I am 5'3" and weigh 215, but u have Type 2 diabetes,High Blood Pressure and High Cholesterol. I take over 10 pills everyday and 5 injections. I am always tired and haven't felt good in over 15 years. I am starting to get doubts about did I really try hard enough to lose weight & change my poor habits. I know my medical team supports this because of all the co morbidities (my insurance company approved my surgery 1 business day) but I am scared of so many aspects of actually going through with this major lifestyle change. I'm scared of being sick all the time, constipated and really scared that I will lose too much weight and my body will go into anorexia. I know this is normal to feel fear, but I am just scared to death of going from being a fat, no so healthy person, to a skinny miserable person. It's really starting to get me a little down. -

sse----> THANK YOU SO MUCH! Stories like yours are of great encouragement to me. First let me say to you, what an awesome blessing it must be to travel the world. I have only left the country a handful of times (once to the Bahamas and 3 times to Canada). It is my greatest desire to one day travel to Europe. I really appreciate you sharing your WLS journey will this forum and myself. It means so much to hear from people who have gone through the fire so to speak. I will continue to follow your journey and am very excited for you and your progress. As soon as I have a surgery date, I will let you know and selfishly elicit your prayers . Again thank you for taking the time out of your own personal journey to reach back and help those of us who are just getting on our way! May God continue to bless you in all your endeavors! -

Thank you so much for sharing your journey...I have a few more diagnostic tests that I have to have done and then I can get my surgery date. My insurance makes me pay a very high copay so I am a little stressed about that, but this surgery is going to save my life. I am only 215 &5'3" buy I hsvr high blood pressure, uncontrolled type 2 diabetes (insulin dependant) and I take 10 pills every day. So I figure the copy will pay for itself eventually when I no longer have to pay so much for ny healthcare. I would love to hear more of your journey, but I hsvr to admit I'm not so technology savy. So it took me 2 months to respond to you. I'm using an app on my phone,so I may have to go to the desktop to get a better handle. Again thank you for your encouragement and for sharing your journey. Good bless
