Question for ALL of you who posted on this topic...Would you say that post ok eating is a bit of a trial & error as each person had to see what they can tolerate? So depressing to know ther isnt anyway to know in advance of either getting sick or having those Gosh awful "slims" that many of you speak of :-(

What was /is your motivation for having surgery!
A_ReNUDE_me replied to Juciilyps:)'s topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
yeah...what she said...lol. oh and plus I'm a 42 yo with type II diabetes, highblood pressure, high cholesterol, sleep apnea & asthma...I raised my two children ages 25 & 22 as a single mom, I never put myself as a priority during thier childhood, because life wouldn't allow it. I became depressed with the struggle of raising my kids alone and used food as my emotional crutch...I have decided that it's time for me to focus on myself and I really want to be healthy by the time my children figure out thier life path and settle down and make me a "glam-ma" one day! Whew..that was therapeutic LOL -
Wow..you look awesome...work that sleeve girl!!!!

An English Sleever's Journey
A_ReNUDE_me replied to marywithoutsound's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm excited for you...I'm pre op hoping to be sleeved in mid November...wishing you great success in your preop diet phase...one small suggestion I'm trying to get in habit of now is the 30-30 wait. drinking for 30 minutes before eating and waiting 30 minutes after eating to drink. It's hard, but if we can incorporate it in beforehabd it will be second nature by the time we are sleeved. I read once it takes 16 days to form a habit, may as well try forming a good one -

so I finally figured out NUT =nutritionalist...
A_ReNUDE_me posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I meet with my nutritionalist and she mapped everything out for me from a preop diet to the steps of post op. My ONLY concern is that she is not physically fit herself. Now don't get me wrong, I respect that she knows what she is talking about as my Physician is ultimately the one who oversees my health; however it's just a little concerning to know that she doesn't really practice what she preached. I really hope this doesn't sound rude, just wondering if anyone else's NUT was over weight & did it matter to you? -
Madam R...u are so funny! (nicotine card holder) I am preop and my Physician tasked me with stopping the smoking prior to surgery since I am a type II diabetic and smoking along with diabetes hinders healing...so far cold turkey almost 30 days...BUT I am eating more. I hope to be totally smoke free by the time I have my surgery (tentative Nov-13). It's challenging, I am trying to learn how to replace bad habits with good ones pre surgery. Last on the list...FOOD.

A_ReNUDE_me replied to A_ReNUDE_me's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you all...I'm not going to say anything, because being overweight myself. I know how hard it is to have someone say something about the elephant in the room..like you have suggested, I'm going to just focus on the positive information she is giving me & useit to my benefit. It's high time I learn to moment own business for the positive changes necessary for my future. I really appreciate the honesty & good advice -
I'm preop, but LOVE reading all the posts from you post op'ers...I am scared to DEATH about being so sick,so I am going to try and stick with the regime my NUT has advised, very nervous about not being able to tolerate the protein shakes, ect especially while on the full liquid diet for 30 days. Welp I guess it's par for the course...just hope one-day I can have a small glass of wine again. Must admit reading all the postoperative posts is a little overwhelming, but helps with preparing for the mental part of adapting to the sleeve. Going on line to order the book Emotional First Aid Kit, now
