I was banded on July 8 and today was the first time I have experienced port pain. It's almost a burning pain. I don't know if I moved the wrong way and hurt it or not.

About 2 month post op and I'm feeling good
zeama commented on zeama's blog entry in My Lapband journey begins after child bearing is over
I've been trying not to step on the scale too much, because it can be hard to see the numbers not go down as fast as you would like them to, but I stepped on there this morning and the scale read 215!!! I cannot believe I am only 15 pounds away from being 200 pounds again! And the best thing of all is that I tried on a size 18 the other night and it fit! I have not worn a size 18 in YEARS!!! My biggest struggle I have found so far is that I still like to drink when I eat. I think that is slowing down my weight loss. Last night I didn't have a drink in front of me and I ate dinner, and guess what? I felt full a LOT longer! So I am going to try and obey the rules, and stick with not drinking when I eat. The other thing that I think has helped my weight loss in the past few weeks is eating mixed nuts when I get hungry. They are high in protein and they help me feel full in between meals. -

I am glad that they caught it. Just like the others said, this could be a blessing in disguise. I hope your other tests go well. -
Welcome Coco! I have learned so much from posting here. Can't wait to hear your success stories along the way! :crying:

I am home from getting my first fill
zeama posted a blog entry in My Lapband journey begins after child bearing is over
I was really nervous about getting a fill and it was not hard at all. He put in the numbing shot and I did not feel a thing. LOL...maybe that will change when I lose a little more weight and there is not as much fat! The needle he used was L*O*N*G!!! My suggestion is look at the ceiling, do NOT look at the needle. But in all honesty, I did not feel a thing so I am totally pleased with that! Now I am back on a liquid diet for a few days, which is fine with me. If that scale starts moving down some more, I'm all for that! -
Here is where I started. The first one was taken in Dec 2007 and the second one is today!

How much have you lost July Butterfllies??

I'm down 28 pounds since surgery and a total of 40 pounds since my journey began!!! -
Am I suppose to feel this good?
zeama replied to cakegal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I felt good too! Congratulations on your surgery:thumbup:! -
I also had surgery on July 8 and just got my first fill last week. I still have hunger, but it's not as bad. It gets frustrating to see it not come off as fast it does in the beginning, but just remember that this is a slow process. Keep eating those small meals, and make sure you're eating high protein so you'll feel full longer.

I got my first fill today and OMG, I feel sooooooo much better! My stomach was growling even as I was waiting in the waiting room. It did not hurt a bit. I looked directly at the ceiling and did not even feel the numbing shot. I feel full and I feel great! :Banane37: Back to liquids for a few days!!! :biggrin2:

I had 3cc put in and I am doing great. I have not had any problems and am loving the fact that I am not as hungry. I did go out to eat with some friends the other night and I had a bowl of brocolli and cheese Soup and I could not finish it. I LOVE the band!!! I wish I could have gotten this years ago!

Welcome! It was my health problems that made me decide to do lapband. I had to start taking 2 blood pressure medications this year to control my high bp, and I just had enough. It really scared me that I may not live that long if I did not lose the weight. My hunger is always what held me back and the lapband has been a life saver! I am 5 wks post op and have lost 25 pounds so far and I just got my first fill today. I would do it again, 10 times over! Good luck on your journey!

My first fill is on Aug 13, and I am SO hungry right now. My hunger also increases before my cycle starts, so I think that is also contributing to it right now. Please tell me after my 1st fill it will get better! Right now I don't feel ANY restriction at all. Is this normal before the first fill?

Ok, I am getting discouraged here. I have been REALLY hungry. My first fill is not until the 13th and I feel like I could eat a horse. I do not feel banded at all. Is this normal?

4 wks post op and I am so hungry
zeama replied to zeama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You guys are a Godsend! Thank you! I also have those thoughts running through my head "OMG! This didn't work". It's just scary when it starts coming off really easy in the first month and then the hunger sets in. The hunger is evil and that has always been my downfall. I can live without certain foods, I just don't like feeling hungry! I will post after I get my fill next week. -

I have been drinking Special K Protein Water, chicken broth, black decaf coffee, sugar free Jello and sugar free Carnation Instant Breakfast. I'm starting to feel a little hungry. So what is everyone else sipping on these days?

3 weeks post op and getting stuck?

I have noticed that if I eat chicken it has to be moist. If it's dry, it hurts like heck going down! -
3 weeks since surgery
zeama posted a blog entry in My Lapband journey begins after child bearing is over
It has been 3 weeks since surgery and this is the best I have felt in years. I've lost a total of 22 pounds in 3 weeks and my clothes are starting to get loose and I can really tell that I have lost weight when I look in the mirror. My blood pressure is normal and I have not had to take medication for my reflux since I have had surgery. I am still drinking the Sugar-Free Carnation Instant Breakfast drinks, usually in the mornings. I also like to have egg beaters for breakfast, because they are high in protein and help me feeling full for a long time. I guess my biggest struggle right now is not drinking while eatting. I drink a lot of water, and it was that way even before surgery, and I hate not being able to drink while eating. But I've pretty much stuck to the rules. I want to get down to my goal weight. I want to weigh 145 pounds and be able to fit into a size 10 again. The weight is coming off a little slower now than it was the first week or so, but I know that is to be expected. I get my first fill in 2 weeks and I can't wait! I am looking forward to feeling some restriction and feeling fuller, longer.:frown: -
