    Wow, Stricture...

I could not eat. As soon as I got a little bit of food down it would come back up, if it didn't it hurt going down and felt like it was sitting in my throat and couldn't go down. It does make you not want to eat. I have a hard time getting vitamins, water, food or anything for that matter down. He is going to go into my throat and widen it so that food and liquid goes down easier. Wish me luck.

    Wow, Stricture...

I had my surgery on August 14, and thought it would go smoothly. (for the most part). Then I started having issues where I couldn't get food down and I couldn't drink anything. Once the dehydration started, I finally called the doctor and made an appointment. Doctor. Taylor tells me that I have stricture and that he needs to go in and widen my esophagus. I had no idea. My advice to any and all, if you don't feel right, call the doctor. Dont wait as long as I did. Back to the hospital tomorrow and clear liquids. Yum..<---- sarcasm...

    Looking for Buddy.

Hello Jusinh125, I appreciate the help. I wanted to be able to go thru this journey with someone that would help me and motivate me. I have had a rough time getting food down and nourishments. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
  5. Hello, I am looking for a buddy to connect with. Would like to chat and get feed back on things I may be doing wrong. I was sleeved 5 weeks ago, and having a serious time with it.

    What am I doing wrong?

My surgery was on August 14, 2013. Pre-surgery I was 243 lbs and now I am 217 lbs. My weight goes back and forth every day and it has been like a stale mate here for going on 2 weeks now. I can't get passed the 217 mark and if I eat anything I will go back up to 220. It has been very difficult getting food down. Shakes, protein's and vitamins. I am struggling to get anything down. The only thing I have found that I can get down and keep down (if I take 45 minutes to eat) is Salmon. The frozen packakge. Other than that, Its hard. I am still on a soft solid diet. So I will try mashed potatoes, yogurt, eggs, bananas, etc... Yet anything I eat just sits there and takes forever to go down and hurts, which in turn makes me not want to eat. Everything else has a funny smell or taste and its like parting the red sea to get me to eat it. I am walking everyday at work. I walk around the building 4 times which equates to roughly a mile. I try to get enough water down. I drink about 3 bottles a day. (about 45 oz's). It's been tough getting that down. I didnt think I would have this many issues. It just feels like I am failing and I don't know what to do.

    When will this pass?

I too am a slow healer. I am 5 weeks post op and cant eat any solid food. I have a bit of a different problem in that anything I eat just sits there and doesnt move. I have not been able to get protein down myself. You are right, we all heal at different rates and I would say just be patient and you will see that slowly but surely you will be back to eating in no time. NOT like before, but better after the surgery. Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestions Lloyd. It's been hard to find food that I can get down and I love the chicken idea.
