    ????ANXIETY ????

I too had those restless days, legs would not stop moving and I felt as if I wanted to get up and do something, did not know what, I was so restless. I could not sleep and heart pounded. I succumbed to taking .25mg of ativan and it really helped. Stroking my dogs and cats also helped when I got really anxious and restlessness. It has been 4 days since last I felt that way, I am now 11 days out from surgery.I hope it soon stops for you. I think it might have something to do with anesthesia and catacholamines/ or rapid metabolic changes. You probably should talk with your Dr. see what he thinks, and maybe ask for something to help you get through this rough time.
  2. I too am really hungry tummy growling, so empty I could throw up hungry. The Unjury chicken soup with 8 ounces of water fills me for about 2-3 hours and then my tummy starts to growl again. I find I can eat 4 ounces of yogurt easily, and I am hoping when I add meat protein it will get better. I have felt more full wiht half of a cup of malto meal mixed with yougurt and protein powder. Than does seem to keep me more full- 5 hours, but I can only eat that 1-2 times a day. I am wondering if some sleeves can hold more food 11 days post op.

    I'm my own worst enemy

It has been 11 days since my surgery, I remain exhausted too. Pain is very little but I can not stop sleeping. I walk 25 minutes a day, and then sleep a great deal of the rest of the day.I was going to go back to work after 2 weeks, but working 12 hour night shifts, there is no way I am ready. I am ususally one who bounces back fast, but this has kicked my rear. I tried to go to a party yesterday. Stayed for an hour and left only to sleep the rest of the afternoon and night. I am only eating about 400-500 cals a day and maybe this is why, but wow, I would like my energy back. I hope we get it back soon.

I live with The Food ****!

I would kindly tell him" honey, you have lost 80 pounds and I have lost 92, I think I know what I am doing, and my love, I feel your caring when you make comments about the carbs, but each one of us is different. I am not you and you are not me internally. My food needs are different than yours. Please it makes me feel ...(you fill in the words how it makes you feel). Please resist from making comments about my choices in food, I hear your concern and love, when you do it, but it is irritating me." Then if he doesnt stop you will have to escalate.your tone.Sometimes men are so about what they want to say they do not hear us women. Sorry guys but it is true.
  5. Day 10 and guess what, gas is problem improved. I changed one thing, my source of protein powder. I started using Unjury and I am feeling stronger and less gas. It does not seem to be as untasty as the nasty powders I bought in the health food store. Or maybe it is just the time I was going to feel better. Any way still have gas but way better than before. Not so painful.
  6. Funny yogurt has never affected me like this before, and post op there just are not alot of items you can get protein from. Maybe lactaid will help, cause other than protein shakes with almond milk there isnt anything that gives better protein than greek yogurt.I will try the peppermint tea, heating pad.
  7. No dairy except low calorie greek yogurt I am lactose intolerant. maybe that is it. I use almond milk, the vanilla 30 calorie per cup kind to make m protein drinks, maybe the yogurt is making me gassy
  8. Angela, Thank you. Everything you asked your Dr. I am thinking. I can drink water without limit too. I am also so hungry all the time, stomach growling hungry. 5 ounces of yogurt would be easy, I try and limit it to 3 and I am hungry one hour later. I worry that I am stretching my sleeve or it is leaking as I have to eat so often. I also am so fatigued I sleep at a moments notice. Thank you for helping allay some of my fears.

    Mentally Hungry II

I think we will all be mentally hungry forever,we like food, infact we love food. But with the sleeve we have limited our options in regards to the food we can, and the amounts we can eat. I am newer to the sleeve than you, I have to applaud you for taking the step so young. You are addressing your weight problem young. You actually did something to make a positive change in your life. I am 62 wishing that there had been this surgery when I was your age, because I have struggled all my life, since 5 years of age, with my weight I even lost jobs due to my weight. You are way smarter than me, you nipped your problem early and will not have to go through all the weight related health problems. Your support group who said you are taking the easy way out, are rediculous. You made a medical decision based on current knowledge to change your life, so you do not fall into the yoyo dieting that never results in long term weight for any of us. As for the mental hunger admit it is there, tell the steak you love it, have your 1-3 ounces of it, when you can, then acknowledge your sleeve limitations and your desire to not end up an unhealthy fat old woman. Congratulations on your journey, in just a short time you will be having so much fun, playing, running and truly having no limitations in regards to your babies, being a thin healthy woman.

    Honest Opinion time!

If your friends are really not helpful,or good, why keep them?Remember this journey is about you, You have lost 40 pounds, they don't care. You give yourself the kudos. They are incapable of it for what ever reason. I found out a long time ago, if friends are not respectful of our relationship, it isn't worth it. As a woman with a new body you will feel differently about yourself and will find other friends who enhance your relationships, not tear them down. Congratulations on your 40 pound weight loss. Now go lose (,how much do your friends weigh) that many pounds more this week.
  11. Hi Janice, Post nasal drip, yes for 6 days after surgery, but mine now seems to have gone away 6 days after surgery, can you ask your Dr for Vera mist or Flonase to help stop it? Amazing career that you have had since 2. Are you back at work yet? Barb
  12. Yes I am drinking at least 4, 16 oz glasses of water.I also have 2-3 glasses of decaf tea.I am having loose stools now need to add fiber. Yay, managing your body after sleeve is almost a full time nursing duty.
  13. Dr rx'd the ibuprofen, seems to work and my little tummy seems to do better with it, than without? I am a little worried as it seems I can do 3-4 oz without any problem. In fact I am so hungry 2 hours after eating,my stomach is growling and I have hunger pains. No nausea today, no zofran at all. My concern is I need to eat every 2 hours and it is not head hunger but stomach pangs of hunger. If I keep my stomach full I do not get nauseated or gassy. Seems wierd, but I am keeping my calories under 600/day, with 68 gms protein per day. You are doing really well looks like you have lost lots of weight. how often do you need to eat?

    Today I am....Depressed

Post operative depression is a real phenomena. Plus factor in we sleevers can not eat what made us happy before and voila instant depression. I hope it will go away as we see our lives improve, weight wise, health wise. I would admit feeling bad, and let it be for as long as you need it, then kick the bad feelings out the door as you go for a walk. I do not want to sabotage my surgery by feeling depressed. If you can not shake it then profesional help might be needed.
  15. Hi I am Barb RN for 37 years now working Hospice. Sleeved on 8-21-13. Hard time yesterday but I was not taking anything for pain or nausea, you know us nurses we want to be in control of things like" I don't have pain". Was constipated but Mirlax took care of that. Today I made myself eat every two hours as I was having +10 pain which I identified as empty stomach /gas/spasm.Also put myself back on Ibuprofen, tylenol, and zofran. Spasms are now much improved. I try to get 3 0z of greek yogurt, with protein powder in every 6 hours, with plain greek yogurt 3 oz every two hours. I am also catnapping most of the day and night. My calories are under 700 a day. I am more hopefull today. I too had a lap assist vag hyst and that recovery was way easier than my sleeve. By day 5 post op I was out and about , but this sleeve surgery is really kicking my rear. Much more involved recovery. What's a stomach as compaired to a uterus I thought? Well, I must be honest, this is way more intensive, trying to figure out what is causing the discomfort, managing constipation, gas, trying to get the right amount of protein and low calories. Fatigue, and nausea is a real factor in recovery which the hyst did not present. Also your sense of smell is hightened, and things do not taste quiet right initially. This is my experience and everyone will be different. Am I happy I had the sleeve?, much more today than yesterday, as I was really sick. I am hoping I can go back to work in 2 weeks, but I am not going to push myself, I learned a long time ago I come first before the job.
  16. I have plenty of gas but nothing in the pot. I walk and still nothing. I think it is time for the Miralax. It is very uncomfortable.
