    California? Anyone...ツ

Absolutely, anyone is welcome! Mondays, conf rm a (first 4 monday's of the month, no mtg on 5th monday) Orange Coast Memorial Med Ctr 9920 Talbert Ave Fountain Valley Hope you can make it sometime.
  3. Yeah, you heard right. My little brother really wants my stomach to come home in a jar. I don't know why, he's just weird! But I might actually ask them to bag it up post surgery. Has anyone had this request? Did any surgeon let you have it?
  4. yes, they send most surgical specimens to pathology. When I worked as a labor nurse, occasionally people would ask to take home their placenta. The rule was, if there was no reason we needed to test it, they could have it, but they had to leave the hospital with it immediately. I don't know if it's the same for stomachs. I saw a guy on youtube that asked for his, but his doctor said no.

I have anthem bc also! Very fast and painless approval process.
  8. It totally depends on your insurance, because I have heard so many variations of this question. Talk to the insurance coordinator, because she is the one that is dealing with many different insurance companies, and will know the most about the process. If you ever get to choose your insurance, I am fully recommending Anthem BC, because their pre op requirements were very easy, and approval was less than a week. No 6 month diet! Also the Orange Coast Center for Obesity has been an amazingly well-oiled machine, and I have been very impressed. My BMI is barely 40, and I have no comorbs, so I was kind of unsure if I would get approved. At the first appointment, they gave me a huge binder, and took my 'before' picture, and I was like, 'hold on, guys, don't cha wanna wait til I get approved?'. They knew what they were doing. check out my signature! The only reason for the Nov Surgery date is because I have to finish a big project at work before I can take off. They wanted to schedule me for sept 30!

    10 1/2 months post op

Thank you for that dose of divine inspiration this morning. I just scheduled for Nov 4th, and although it is a ways away, it is starting to seem a little more real.
  10. eye on the prize, my friend. This too, shall pass. look at your worst "before" picture, and remind yourself why this will all be worth it.

    sadness

Well when it comes down to it, you can only control your own actions, attitudes and acceptance level. You can stay in a relationship you KNOW is not going anywhere, and hope and wish that things will change. But if you already know, (I know in my heart we're not meant to be, the love is there...but not much else.. IDK.) what are you wasting your time for???

New here! Never did i ever......

It happened really fast for me too. I have Anthem BC in Ca. Super fast approval and not too many hoops to jump through. I have to quit smoking too. I just got my date today (nov 4) so now I have a time line to wean off caffiene and cigs. Not looking forward to giving up my last two vices, but it is all worth it. (I must want this REALLY bad!) Im glad things are going fast for you too. Its kind of crazy. So far no second thoughts. They wanted to schedule me for the end of Sept, but I have a lot going on at work till the end of Oct, and I just can't bail on my team. Three people recently quit, and I can't do that to them right now. Anyway, now I just have to get through the next 2 months. Im sure it will go fast.

    Birth control and VSG

My surgeon's guidelines are no hormonal bc one month before surgery. Much higher risk of clots.

    TT numbness / swelling

the swelling will resolve in a few weeks. Sometimes numbness can persist. Depends on a lot of things, mainly what was disrupted during the surgery.

What Role does the scale play in your life?

scales are dumb. many of us get so obsessed.
  22. ive taken out a lot of c section staples. there are a lot. not the most fun time, but its fine. you prob dont have all that many. if they're straight they come out real easy. its the ones that are a little cock-eyed that can be more uncomfortable.
