    Smokers

Totally feel you. I have given up my last couple vices.....and WILLINGLY! So glad to be a non smoker!
  3. it's fairly simple. Do you want to live an extra 10-15 years, or deal with your food issues?

    Smokers

I am an ex smoker, quit oct 4 for the sleeve. surgery is nov 4. My doc recommended quitting, but doesn't require it. It is REALLY hard being on the pre op diet and not smoking too. This is HARD!!!!!! But I am very motivated that this will all be worth it.
  5. when I had ear surgery, I came to in the recovery room and was like, "who the heck is screaming?" and then realized, 'oh, that's me".

    November buddies where are you?

I wouldn't start early, it's hard enough. Maybe do a modified week (lo carb, no sugar, etc) and do the 2 wks of optifast. It is wayyyy harder than I thought and I have cheated (protein bar) every day. Someone from the forum suggested broth, which has no cal and helped a lot. Also having contact with others that are also doing it with me really helps! Good luck!

    November buddies where are you?

I started the pre op diet (4 shakes/ or 3 shakes and one 'dry salad') 800cal a day. did you know pickles have no calories??? I am eating the &(*&(*^ outta some pickles! It's hard you guys! But I have lost 5 lbs in less than 4 days. I can do it!!

I am suffering along with you! It's really hard. They say the cravings get better after the detox.

    Surgery tomorrow!

sounds like you're right where you're supposed to be. Good Luck!
  10. I am in the same boat. Just started pre op shake diet 3 days ago. So far I am pretty hungry about 3 hours after my shake (new directions 27gm protein). I drink broth and crystal litel in between. Oh and I have also quit smoking almost 2 weeks ago!! Good thing I spaced them out a little. I was joking with my manager yesterday, "I quit smoking, and I'm on a liquid diet, so don't eff with me." She was like, "hide yo wife, hide yo children!" We are all gettin a good laugh out of my journey!

    Protein Drinks

The only pre made one I love is called BFast, but it only has 10gm protein.

Ablation, sleeve, now periods? What gives?

It is probably from the release of estrogen stored in fat cells as they are breaking down and shipping out.

    Protein Drinks

I think the New Directions brand Chocolate is the best. They sell it at my surgeon's office. The other flavors arent as good, but I really like the chocolate.
  14. you have lost your coping mechanism (food). Just a guess. seek some help, psychologist??
  15. I think this is not a process you should rush into. My insurance approved me really fast and I was almost not ready for it. Things start happening really fast after that. Kaiser has pretty straightforward guidelines. you either meet the requirements or you don't. I would just do what they recommend, and learn the information. It's a huge, life-changing decision, and I think the time required is important.

    Biggest loser

Biggest Loser is interesting...It just doesn't seem sustainable. They work those ppl out like it is their JOB. It is inspiring to watch tho.

    It's been 1 year

Thank you for posting. Every time I see a transformation like this, I get so much hope that someday this could be me! Well done!
  18. just start the liquid diet a few weeks before surgery. no way you can fail.
  19. No, not unless you want to try to reschedule it. It will probably be resolved/ resolving by next week.
  20. Yep, I'm on the 4th! So excited. Here's the link to the November thread. http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/94286-november-buddies-where-are-you/page__st__180#entry1027267

    Random.. About blood clots

They will check your blood counts prior to surgery, and if there is any reason to be concerned, they won't proceed. A bruise does not indicate any problem with clotting, unless you suddenly notice you bruise easily or are covered in bruises for apparently no reason. I'm sure you will be fine.
