BreadLady- I am so impressed that you make your own flour. Now I love to bake and I love to make breads, but I have never heard of anyone who makes their own flour. I actually have a harvest gather in the fall----I make Pots of homemade soup and everyone who comes is asked to bring a loaf of bread to share.....It is such a nice time, most of the guest try to make homemade bread, I just love the texture to homemade bread......it must be out of this world with your own milled flour!!!!!!! I love when company comes over with the new coffee machine......there is something for everyone. Have you tried the new K-cups hot chocolate??? My kids love it!!

Good Day to all, I have to say, I am in a funk. I feel like the past week has been a whirl-wind with the kids going back to school. I expected it to be easier, but it has been hectic. I not in a funk about the band, just how crazy life is. I would love to just pack my kids up and move to a very small town (Norman Rockwell like)----OK- time to wake up now. Because of the pace of the week, as you can see, I have been absent from here as well. I have read alot to catch up and my head is spinning. Aunti Phyl--I am so sorry about your fill......I hope that you can do something to move up the date. I would call them and demand that you been seen earlier than that. I work in a dental office- the squeeky wheel really does get the grease. Breadlady- welcome back.....I am curious about "Breadlady"- what does it mean? I give you alot of credit for homeschooling your children. What are thier ages? I could never do that- I just dont have patients. Chim-always a pleasure to read your posts. Kathy- Yea for your husband and you! Laurend- How is school going? Lynette-Jackie-Denise-Ruby-Chris-Lorna-Indio-Linda- HELLO!!!!!!!!!!!

    Any Long Islanders?

Candle- you will see one of the PA's when you go. They will take off the steri-strips and remove any sutures that are present. They wont do an xray at this visit. They didnt show me any xray (I am assuming you mean when they did the florosope the day after surgery)- its mostly post op visit, where she will talk to you about the diet and any concerns you will have. You will be given a six week visit after that visit. ac

    Switching Insurance Mid-Stream?

Wendy- I think you should tell your employer- you have an opportunity to make a change before they sign a contract. If you dont say anything, you run the risk of them not including the option of weighloss surgery. At least if you say something, your voice has been heard.
  19. After going through all of my pre-admission testing, my ins co changed, and I then had to go through the 6 mos of weight loss counseling with my Phys. I was very upset as I was expecting to be banding in January of 07--I was banded In July of 07---It is frustrating to wait, and my PCP was not very supportive of having to see him for 6 mos- I ended up changing him for this reason. But, after 6 mos I only lost 15lbs (purposely) because I was afraid that I would go under the 40BMI--

Ruby, Don't beat yourself up at this point, whats done is done. When the bill comes in, call the sleep study program and ask to speak to the head of the billing department. Tell them that you were not anticipating this bill and you would like very much to pay them but you will have to make a payment arrangement. As long as you are paying off the bill, they are not going to turn you down. Make it so that it is comfortable for you, but that they see you are going to make an effort to pay it. Facilities are usually good about making these arrangements. They just want their money in the long run. Also, ask if there is any way they can discount some of the bill. They accept alot less money if they are in a network than what an out of network insurance plan pays,(I am talking hundreds of dollars less) it doesnt hurt to ask-and you arent the first person to ask them this......Goodluck

Ruby- Im sure you are very upset, I deal with insurance company's daily and know what I am going to say it going to sound insensitive, but as the policy subscriber, you have to be well informed of your policy. The minute they told you that the facility is out of network, you should have asked exactly what that meant. You are lucky that they covered anything out of the network at all, my policy does not cover anyone who is out of the network period! Trust me, the minute they said that to you they document what was said so that they are covered by disclosing that information to you. Also, every test you go for, any hospital bill, any other Surgeon that you see, even the anesthesia is considered a separate charge from the surgeons bill. The Surgeons bill is only one of many required for this surgery. I know that from dealing with insurance companies, The will say to you that it is your resposibility to know your policy, and to stay within guidelines to maximize your benefits. I know that none of this helps you now, and I am sorry that this happened to you.

Chim and Laurend- I find that with chrystal light, I just add a small amount to my H2O just to flavor it a tad. If I make it into the 1/2 gal, its much to sweet and certain flavors have a metalic taste. The lemonade is good, and so is Raspberry ice. But I just add a tiny bit to the Water. I like that better than the flavored waters, now those I cannot drink at all.......they taste so fake to me. But I like just plain water the best. Hi Lynnette, Jeanie, Ruby, Kathy, Ssanskoffa, Marcy,CC- and if I forgot anyone....Sorry!!

    Any Long Islanders?

Candle- Sorry I didnt get an email stating that there was a post on this thread. By the time you get this you will have had surgery and will be home by now. I hope all is well with you. The first couple of days were a little tough, but I walked alot and kept and icepack on my port for the whole first week. I really felt that it helped with the pain and swelling. So many people comlain of port pain, and I had none at all. So, ice, ice, baby!! Yes, I am on mushies, and I am doing well, at my 2 week post op I was down 21lbs from the time I started the pre-op diet. But I feel very much back to normal. Let me know how you are doing.

    Any Long Islanders?

notmzperfect, It was only about a month after the pre-op testing. After all of your testing, and after you get your date you will be scheduled to meet with their OR nurse, June,- you usually meet with her and a group within 2 weeks of surgery date and she goes over everything that will happen from admission on. The you start your pre-op diet, and then surgery. It goes very fast. I am hoping to go on September 4th, but I come in from Suffolk, and I work on Tuesdays, so, I probably will be either late, or wont make it.
