First Pangs of Regret
sbarbiegirl replied to LumpySpacePrincess's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not sure what your starting weight was. I've lost 94 pounds and didn't move down any sizes until 80 pounds. I hit a stall. Lost 2 pounds in 3 weeks and lost a whole size. I just tell myself when I'm not losing weight on the a scale maybe my body is adjusting to lose inches. I know it's hard sometimes when nothing is happen. Just hang in there. I started at 410 and now 316. Some people still can't tell I've lost weight where others tell me how much they can tell ( I'm not sure if they are telling the truth). I just try to take it day by day. -
The struggle is REAL....
sbarbiegirl replied to HollyJ2621's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My bmi was 71. I was sleeved Sept 27, 2013. I was self pay in Mexico. My insurance does not cover wls surgery. My recovery was very easy. Maybe I got lucky. I had no gas pain. The only pain I had was it felt like I had done 1000 sit ups in my left side. I was back to work in a week. I do have a desk job. I was never tired. I think that is because I did my pre op diet for 4 weeks. I think this made my recovery easier. I'm down 94 since surgery. I don't feel like I'm in a diet. My starting weight was 410 my current weight is 316. Sometime I still can't believe the surgery works after trying so many diets. But it does! Good luck. -
I didn't tell everyone until 2 weeks after the surgery. I guess I'm lucky. Everyone was every positive. I didn't get any negative feedback about the wls surgery. I did have co workers tell me they can't believe I had it done in Mexico. I'm 18 weeks out and down 94 pounds. Now I hear man that surgery does work you look great. When I dine out I even tell the wait staff. Since I get a drink and normally only order a side dish I dont want them to think extreme cheapskate here. It's a personal decision. I think you have to do what you feel comfortable with. Which is weird for me because normally I'm a very private person.

Mexico Surgeon finalist
sbarbiegirl replied to JudeS's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I was sleeved on Sept 27, 2013 by Dr. Alvarez. I can't say enough good things. Zero complication and almost no pain. I was off work only a week. I'm down 92 pounds. While he is more expensive it was worth every penny! I will be glad to answer any questions. -
what was your longest stall?
sbarbiegirl replied to LuminousLife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm on day 12 of my stall. I'm 17 weeks out and down 90 pounds. So frustrating. I been eating well and going to the gym. Only to gain a pound or 2 and then lose it again. Hopefully I will start losing again. I just try to stay positive and tell myself I'm losing inches. -
Does anyone know why we dont sweat anymore? or it takes a long time to begin to sweat when working out ?
sbarbiegirl replied to OHHLALA's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Weird me too. I thought it was just me. I only come out with a big red face. No sweat. I thought maybe I'm not working out hard enough. -

Our experience with Dr. Guillermo Alvarez in Piedras Negras
sbarbiegirl replied to gamergirl's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I was sleeved by Dr. Alvarez 09.27.2013. I'm down 86 pounds. I could not be happier. You can fly to San Antonio Rosie the driver will pick you up and take you to Eagle Pass. You will stay at Holiday Inn. Nothing interesting to me in Mexico. You can walk on foot to a few stores or restaurant if you feel safe. You will have a cordinator to get your travel companion food or drinks. You can pay in American cash. You will have a private room. Let me know if you have any other questions. -

Grocery bill since surgery?
sbarbiegirl replied to ebonidarden's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I save at least $400 a month. Not so much on my grocery bill. Just eating out. $8 a day on lunch out adds up. When we dine as a family i just add a side salad or extra side and no drink for me. -
Almost 1 year later...
sbarbiegirl replied to Obsidian's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Wow thanks for sharing. I was sleeved 09.27.13. Starting weight 410. Current weight 324. I hope I can do as well as you are doing when I hit my year out. You give me so much hope that I can do it!!!! -
Are you comfortable talking about it?
sbarbiegirl replied to Defying Gravity's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I guess I'm different. I discuss my wls with everyone. I even tell servers when I go to a restaurant that I had wls and I can't eat that much so hold the bread and I will be sharing to bring an extra plate. I figure they can see that I'm fat and at least now they know I'm doing something about it. Everyone is different. I say do what you feel comfortable with. -
Anyone lose weight w/out exercise?
sbarbiegirl replied to Scorpion11's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I have lost 83 pounds without exercise. I was sleeved 09.27.13. Keep in mind I do have a lot to lose. I am going to start exercising when I hit a stall. Since my weight has been coming off pretty well I didn't want to change anything up yet. -

I had my surgery in Mexico. I was asked to lose 35 pounds. I only lost 25 pounds. They still did my surgery. I didn't cheat in the pre op. I lost 25 and then hit a stall for 2 weeks. -
Self Pay & Complications
sbarbiegirl replied to MamaK's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I have my surgery in Mexico. My pcp does my follow up care. Really all she did was look at my cuts and routine bloodwork every 3 months. My insurance did cover it. I have only had to pay my normal co pay. -
