  1. If you don't mind my asking, why did you have it removed?

    Pain on right side?

OK, now I'm surprised. Is that true, everyone? Is the port always on the left side? Mine is definitely on my right side and the pain I feel is on my left side.

    Pain on right side?

Hi Missy, I've been having the exact same pain. I had my surgery about 2 months ago, and just in the last couple of days, I've been having a sharp pain on my left side (my port is on my right side) just below my ribcage. I've also been having a lot of pain in my left shoulder. It seems to be come on after I eat. I haven't called my doc. yet, but I, too, am wondering if anyone else has experienced this. Weird! Liz
  4. Hi everyone, I'm in the preop phase of lapband surgery so I may be getting ahead of myself here, but I'm really curious as to whether I'll really need cosmetic surgery someday (assuming I'm successful in losing the weight!). For those of you who have lost 75-100 pounds, was your skin incredibly loose? I'm not looking at all to have perfect skin tone, but I don't want my belly hanging down to my knees either. I'm almost 52 by the way, and I'm female. What was your experience?
  5. I'm wondering if it's feasible to have lapband surgery without telling my co-workers. I'm tentatively scheduled to have it 7/27, and I would really prefer to keep it to myself for at least the first few months. Will it be obvious when I eat lunch with them as far as the way I'll eat? A group of us always eat together, and sometimes we bring in meals to share. I'd really appreciate anything anyone call tell me as to how I can keep this private. It's not really that I'm embarrassed, I just feel like they'd be watching every bite I eat, and I can do without the attention.
  6. Ok, that doesn't sound too bad. Thanks for the advice.

    Slime?

OK, thanks, I'm glad it's not so bad. But what does cause someone to slime? How can you avoid it?

    Slime?

What causes you to slime? It sounds so disgusting, I don't want it to happen to me!
  9. I'm pretty new at this--hoping to have my surgery at the end of this month. But based on everything I've read, it sure sounds like you should get the surgery covered. I have BCBS NC and my doctor says he's sure I'll be covered. MY BMI is higher than yours (39) but since you have those health issues, I think you should be good. If you can come up with a few more problems that would be helpful--back pain, pain in your feet, shortness of breath?
