I'm in Austin. Surgery date 9/16 with Dr. Fass. -
I am loving this forum. I woke up last night to noise and couldn't go back to sleep. While laying there I wondered if I could do this. I've been excited since day one and this is the first time I've had any doubt with my decision. As I continued to lay there I went over in my head all the reasons I was doing this. I know this surgery is the best decision for me. I drifted off to sleep and when I woke up and dragged myself out of bed with the aches and pains from all my ailments, it was the best reminder of why I'm doing this. To be healthier, to be better! Thank you all for posting your thoughts because its just added encouragement.

Self Pay & Complications
leanerlena replied to MamaK's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
My insurance won't cover me because my employer has an "exclusion clause" for weight loss surgery. There is no way around an "exclusion clause". Any complications directly to the surgery will not be covered. However, if there is an issue after surgery not caused by the surgery then that's a different story. Example, if I become dehydrated and need to visit the ER, I am visiting the ER for dehydration and will be covered. I am very confident in my doctor and am not looking for any complications. There's no room for fear - just faith -
I could have definitely been a quicker process. It all depends on how quick you complete your pre-ops and I wasn't rushing the process. You also have to factor in the availability of doctors schedule and the hospital surgery schedule. Five weeks is quick enough for me

I had previously considered surgery years ago and was denied by insurance so this is kinda like my second visit. I am a self pay and I had my initial consult on August 15th and have my surgery date set for September 16th. The time frame is based solely on how quick I got my pre-reqs completed. The process has been completely fast, but for me I'm happy about that. Less time to be nervous about anything Best of luck!
