Weight Gained Since Having Gastric Sleeve Surgery
Tartan-Tiger replied to sleeve 4 me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for the link, just read this "Your attitude even affects your hunger hormones—specifically ghrelin, a hormone that stimulates hunger. In a study at Yale University, researchers had each of 46 participants drink an identical 380-calorie milkshake on two separate occasions. During one test, they were told that they were enjoying an "indulgent" 680-calorie shake. The other time they were told that it was a "sensible" shake with 140 calories. The researchers measured levels of ghrelin during several points of the experiment. Ghrelin levels dropped more steeply among those who drank what they thought were "indulgent" shakes. Those participants also reported feeling more full." Huh, looks like it is more in my head than I though -

Op tomorrow - interested to hear other Uk views

The pre op is more so that your liver shrinks, allowing the surgeon to operate easier, rather than loosing weight. Scales can be a pain, the ones in my surgeons office were half a stone heavier than the ones in boots and the ones in my bathroom were heavier than the lot LOL Good Luck for tomorrow honey, and dont get hung up on numbers on the scale, you'll find it can send you loopy, i have stayed the same weight for weeks but went down a size!!!! Let us know how it goes when you can. X -

I Am So Angry When People Think Surgery Is The Easy Option!

Thanx for your replies..... to all that it is working well, I am pleased for you. My point was that it is not an easy way for many, myself included and that it is when non WLS people just assume it takes no effort I get angry. I have to be careful what I eat as my tiny tum doesn't hold much, and as my holiday shows me it will be all to easy to fall of the wagon and end up back where I began. I had problems when trying to get back on solids and was ill for several months and back on puree, I am now doing much better thankfully. It is by no means a magic wand and we have to work with it. I hear of many that regain, others have to force themselves to eat - the results of surgery can be so varied. Good Luck to all of us, whether pre-op, post-op or just thinking about it. To travel this road with other by our side makes the journey a more supported one X -

I am happy for you that it is working so well, it is more that "some" people assume I can eat whatever the heck I want and it is not a problem.... I was on holiday last week and put on 2lb, due to a chocolate cake experience I know I need to eat healthy to stay well and lose weight and avoid regain.... X -

I am a newbie - so please forgive me if this has been ranted about before... I just need to get this off my (now smaller than it used to be) chest LOL I AM SO ANGRY WHEN PEOPLE THINK SURGERY IS THE EASY OPTION!!!! They treat it like surgery is being lazy: Just don't eat so much... Exercise more.... Etc...etc...etc Sigh! It is a tool, i need to work at it. It is not a magic wand. It hurts even more when it is family.... feels like i am the wee fat one and they dont want that to change, well piss off that is YOUR problem! I made the choice for me if you can't support my decision.... well.... tough! Thank you for saving me from burying my anger in chocolate X -
Menstrual cycle is messed up :(
Tartan-Tiger replied to bellaaa_vita's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Pre-Op I was regular every 25 days.... now I am looking at 38+..... not on birth control.... but apparently your cycle can change do to your hormones changing (that is what my surgery team says)..... it is taking some getting used to -
